  1. Ive just had a play with strelok and its giving me,using my loads just over 1 inch low with a change in temp from 74c (origanal zero) to 1c at 300yds, wind will also shift poi .whatever the angle, unless of course its constant from muzzle to target which is ni-on impossible Bearing in mind i am using 50 nosler shifting 3870fps
  2. Check out different powders also, there are those that are more sensitive than others.
  3. With a decent gap in the weather and off night's til Wednesday i managed to get out on a newish permision again and see if there were any Fox's still around. First look round with the new cluson led pistol lamp (very impressed) showed nothing so a slow quiet drive up the track another 1/2 mile, a call for 5 minutes and a look with the lamp showed a pair of eyes in the grass around a small flight pond, not moving around much, the occasional loss of eye shine as its head moved up and down. It was time to use the gun mounted lamp another clulite, no filter on this time as it didnt seem too bothered. It wasnt coming in for the call, just sitting now bobbing its head a little, i estimated to be over 200yds, if it wasnt going to come closer it was now or loose it. A squeeze on the trigger and the 53grn v-max was on the way,and the thud returned only fractions of a second later to say, job done Checked the distance at 238 yds so an impressive shot, i was happy with that Farmer happy, and my visits productive which is why i am shooting there Tikka M55 (rebarrel by Dave,Valkyrie rifles) 22.250 53grn v-max, 36grn varget ,br primer Z4i 3-12x50 ill
  4. I take it that he was sat looking at you then Job done
  5. Bi pod's off the truck a dumpy sniper system 3-9 or if walking a 13-27 harris, i need it on my Sako its far too heavy for sticks, the last one i tried collapsed under the weight But my newest rifle is not too bad weight wise so may revert to sticks if i take that out foxing whilst on foot.
  6. He is dark specially lower down, and seems small'ish, that is unless your a man mountain. whats your combo, ? Did you call him in ? and if so what with ?
  7. That will do That is a 5p coin and assuming its 100yds or so
  8. That looks about right price wise, i charge around £15-20 for cutting and baging but mostly get more due to being such an amazingly good butcher :whistling: or i get my meat cheaper. I have a barron sow to sort out soon, she's a big'un so i am guessing there will be a fair bit of bacon coming of her, just need to source some decent cure, any suggestions before i troll the www.
  9. If you go out to 300 plus yards then its more likely you will start to see the variation show in the velocity spread you mention. But 100yds it will show very little as you have noticed. But 60fps is nothing to worry about for a sporting shooter.
  10. I also seem to remember a few HMR with not allot of go in them aswell. A brilliant day .thanks to all involved. I also seem to remember a few HMR with not allot of go in them aswell. A brilliant day .thanks to all involved.

    Gazza

Spot on, i think the biggest insult George Best could of had is when the comment was made that the so called "Gazza" was another George Best. Yes i partly agree with the science bit (a very small part mind" but we have the choice do do something about it. And please dont mention to me about not understanding it, (wrong one here) maybe i was lucky who knows. His manager i think is pathetic for knowingly let him go ahead with his last interview, maybe it has turned out that he can now see how much help he needs, BUT he has to help himself. How long he can extend his life is up to him, but personaly i dont think it will be for too long.
  13. a good idea re limiting the numbers, It would of been easier for me to get to some of the stands without the need to be patient. If there were that amount of folk on one stand i walked around looking at others i could get to, then returned later when i could get to the stall.
  14. I went Sat, the only moan i have is the price of the so called food. But i have not read a comment over the last few years that has not brought up that topic with regards to the so called food vans from these type of shows, so me personaly i expect to be ripped off, if, that is i choose to buy from them, which incedently i dont. It was crowded yes, but that just goes to show what a strong following your sport and mine has. For those that moan and winge about the amount of people, then how about seeing if the show organisers will let you have exclusive accsess for a day before the doors are open to the rest of us peasants, as it sounds like your making out you actually deserve that right. All shooting related gear on show under one roof, people to actually chat to face to face, (not over www) for a change, pick brains from people who are actually using gear i am interested in buying. Not a sales rep who tells me its the dogs danglies, reading peoples faces,ie; sussing out the BS from the reallity. something that you cant do over the www. Bargains !!! yes i saved my entrance fee on a few buys which i needed so apart from the dog that tripped me up, yes i had a good days. Thanks for asking dougy
  15. for goodness sake man up its a bit of snow its not a bloomin tsunami, it dont snow down here much so this end will be ok. Its going to rain as well so it wont last Just fix bayonets and go for it pike
  16. Pm me your address i have a load of old black work socks with holes in you can have for free, they might need washing though, your decision. :good:
  17. I'll be the one walking round with a couple of black eyes and a bloody nose, after calling all the blokes bigger than me fatty and pushing my way past them. I think the BASC stand would be best for a meeting place. at lunch time with a beer in hand for David
  18. Still got my paper one, and will not be going to the plastic one unless i move house which i have no intention of in the future (living anyway)
  19. Not sure if i will be there sat or sun but will definatly be going.
  20. Another Dog Fox comes in on the caller, this one kept it low coming over a rise in the field. Then it stopped as i switched the main lamp on, which this time was a 170 scope mounted, it seemed to get right down into the stubble but not enough unfortunately for the Fox as i could see enough to get a nosler 55grn bt into its front I could still hear a Dog calling in the distance but decided it was time to pack in, another night out will hopefully find another one or 2.
  21. I recently bought a "Hoover" 2100w dustmaster cyclonic its very good at removing hairs with the beat sweep action, you wont get the same results re hairs with a numatic type vacuum cleaner. Cant believe we are discussing what type of vacuum cleaner is the best, are we all turning or what. Now get you cleaner sorted and get back on track.
  22. did they use drawing pins I used to out and we would average 25 on a Sunday morning 07.30 til 11.30 then in the local and sell 1/2 of them for £1 each. I know what you mean with regards 12 being enough to carry
  23. very little effort i like to keep things simple i was in the local at 20.30 having a pedi.
  24. Our ultra sonic cleaner at work will clean it.
