  1. Nice grouping Simon, and well done on the 3 fox's....if i may ask without sounding rude, why the small text, and your finger nails need scrubbing
  2. Sorry no, it was cheaper than your cheap "Fox Call CD's" that your selling.
  3. Dougy

    bad day at work

Sounds like you too have had a bad day at the office, some grumpy posts off you today
  4. Its a UTRA S5 its effective yes a bit weighty though but not bothered on that rifle, in total its just a tad under 14lb, stays pretty much on target after the bang though
  5. I dont mind you asking at all but it will cost you £295 for an answer
  6. Been there had that happen to me for quite a long time, its not nice, specially when your told when you return to work after you rest days your going to get a rollokin and this is the call you get when you have finished work maybe hours after getting home, (I work perm nights 12hrs) as been said a word is needed pronto, he has no management skills or manors. When this happed to me on umpteen occasions it ended up with me blowing all gaskits and giving my gaffer a right gud ear full +. Never happed since. I would reccomend a quite word first though or slip another phone in his jacket pocket and put call divert to that phone from yours
  7. Well another one to the cheap fox call, Same as the other night, caller out on a bail 100yds into the field, on with my play list 1 and shuffle that gives me an hour of- silence rabbits squeals and the odd rodent squeals and the odd minutes of silence here and there. Again not long before i see a pair of eyes, a little high i thought for a fox at least 6ft in the air, thats a bloody big fox first though it was a Barn owl as there are a few about perched on a bail, checked through the scope wound the mag up a tad, lamp straight on, Blast its a fox sitting quite happy on the bail,i clocked it jump off, but lost it between the bails somewere for a few moments then it appeared again, heading towards the call. Trying to get a shot on both of the last foxs in this field was like Boar shooting in the woods Croatia style only Fox. Fox----Bail-----Fox------Bail------Bail-------Fox, the caller stopped for a minutes silence so the did the fox, just long enough-------- 195yds another one in the bag. In total thats 7 in only 2 weeks from only 2 fields of about 20acres all using the "cheap" ipod caller and not had to wait for too long for a response, max i thing was about 1/2 an hour
  8. The wheat had been taken off and the straw bails left behind,so a call to the farmer asking to pop down for a look, "No problem get yourself on it" The first one taken on Monday night at about 21.50, put the caller out on a bail about 100yds into the field, got back to the pickup and it was spotted comin across from the left corner of the field,if it wasnt in the fiels allready it got there bloody quick as a quick check with the lamp on arrival showed nothing then only about 5-10 minutes it was onto the caller. The only problem was it seemed to be playing hide and seek with the bails, now you see it now you dont, has it gone,no its there------were it stopped just infront of a bail looked over to the lamp. which was only showing its eyes (kept low) i quickly grabbed a chance for a shot 195yds Bang !!! pooo missed it, eyes popped up a few yards away,.Not bothered at all by the lucky escape it just had it was intent on getting to the noise coming from the caller it was back on track, i couldnt believe how unlucky this fox was, it had to be a cub . It stopped again his time it wasnt so lucky Bang !!! Job done. I waited for 1/2 an hour to check if any others were about but called it a night.
  9. LOL couldnt help but laugh, i had to go back and look at your dashboard all in bits, you mentioned a chimpanze,LOL Sorry, The young lad from halfords put the controls were i asked him to, made a cracking job too and it all works. PS your last picture shows you have made a decent job
  10. Shoot one and see, If its a dead un i would say there ok. Probably not a 75yard bullet though
  11. Thats some big fox your way,you must be feeding them well. I dont let them get that big round my way. Lol
  12. I have been fishing for quite a number of years,(mainly course,a little fly and a few days sea fishing around Donegal for Cod,Pollock,Ling ect) possibly more than 40 :yp: so knots are not a problem using braid or tying rigs it the Beach bit i have never done before, Thanks for the offer Jasper but i think we should be back that week. I am looking forward to the huge amount of fish i am going to catch
  13. The rod is a cheapo Rod Hull (Ron Thompson) 12 foot, i really cant see the point in over spending, the use its going to get is maybe once a year after this, and its a big maybe. It wont be for a couple of weeks or so, i may see if there are any deals at the Midland this weekend for a bigger reel. Yes a mono for the leader. not too fussed about lures as its more tackle to buy that i wont be using much after. The most important part of the tackle is going to be the seating
  14. Havnt drank cider since school days, was really bad and never touched it since, crab butties sound nice though,
  15. Hers one for you all;; I have a 30.06 if i hit a can of coke at 50yds were to i put the cross hair on a nice Red Stag at 265yds Oh! it will be a 180grn nosler Please be quick with the answer i am going stalking this afternoon !!!
  16. I find it a tad confusing your asking for drop/trajectory for a rifle you also use on Roe, i understand you will possibly be using different weight bullets for Fox and Roe, personaly i wouldnt bother with the change. You are surley aware of the drop when your Deer shooting . If you need to know what the drop is at any chosen range than may i suggest you place your zero targets at that range and not guestimate or take measurements from other peoples guesses, Get out there and put some holes in paper at ranges up to say 300yds it will make you a better rifleman quicker than listening to most of the advice given on here And IMHO a far better way to learn.
  17. Or you could of done what i did and paid the man at Halfords £25 to do it, 4 hours and no stress later job was done
  18. After another text from Farmer giles, my services were in need again. After the other week i thought the job had been done after shooting a couple of fox's,but there you go as we all know there are others that quickly move in on the vacated area's,and being as there's a few hundred acres next door fenced of with all the high tech gizmo's you could imagine to keep all the rabbit and fox population fairly safe :yp: ( i know nobody controls either) Anyway the text "just seen another fox in the back field" Ok be there later Rifle sorted, caller sorted (Altec Ipod player) cans of pop, lamps and out at 20.00. At the farm quick chat with the farmer, sorted out some nice lamb for the freezer which i will be butchering next week ,then get myself sorted on the silage bails, not before putting the caller out on a hay bail about 50 yds in front of me. Switch on,a quick climb up on the bails (3 high) and wait. Not long before i spot a pair of eyes about 190 yds in the far corner coming in,i loose it through the trees, thinking its got to be about somewere i lay off the lamp for a couple of minutes see if its coming in to the call, lamp back on its sniffing the bail that the callers on,it runs off back to about 90yds to a tree line, stops, turns side on,just enough time for a shot, jobs a good un . Can open well deserved drink (Tango) i decide to hang on for a bit,too early to go home yet its was only 21.50, have another flick round with the lamp about 15minutes later and clock another one coming straight in this time, not bothered about the lamp, i gave it a grunt to stop it then gave it a 55grn nosler for its last supper. Well happy wrapped up and a pint on the way home picture,s on the rubbish side poss due to the phone being left out in the rain a few weeks back
  19. Well they sound pretty good these 2, do, one runs on fresh air,and one runs on oil and shows very good mpg.But does possibly give you back pain. ;-)
  20. Thanks chaps.its actually braid so should cast ok,i must up my leader though, its my first time beach casting so I am approaching it with expected fluff ups lol.. Looking forwaard to it. Oh! The reel will be either a shimano 4000 or simalar bait runner, any good

  22. Mung, take it to Croatia and try it out on some of those Pigs, i'll shoot you one or two and you can do a bit of butchery on them.
  23. If your getting close to the renewal date and have any worries, then get yourself on old cheap 22lr to fill your slot, chuck a cheap scope on and you have filled your slot, looking around you could get a set up for just about £180 inc scope
