  1. We have an agreement that has been in place now for 31 years - if he is absolutely sure that it will delight me then he surprises me such as when he bought my gun. If he is unsure then he admits to this and I buy what I want. This works well. He couldn't care less about presents at all so he just gets what he wants when he wants it. No arguments, no tears, happy happy happy.
  2. I appeared on Top Gear back in the early 90s as we had unwittingly bought a ringer.
  3. Pork scratchings Brazil nuts covered in Belgian milk chocolate
  4. There is a premier inn that is 4.8 miles away from the hospital and ones that are further out. I went onto the Premier Inn website and put in the postcode of the hospital B15 2TH and it brings up the Inns and how far they are away. I can't help with B&Bs as I have never used one in Birmingham.
  5. Feeling any better today? We didn't go out either as the hubby seems to have similar to you. He's just starting to feel a bit better after 2 days really bad.
  6. It's only a practise ground for sporting so not too tough. They have other disciplines there as well which is good as I like that. I prefer competition grounds really but they are a nice bunch and I enjoyed myself.
  7. I have only been to Kibworth twice, long way from us and I was not asked.
  8. I'd definitely be able to see that one
  9. I'm so very sorry for your loss - take comfort in each other whilst you heal.
  10. Thank you Moose Man - a very informative explanation. As I stated I make no judgment on anyone's action - I just wanted to learn a bit more about something I know nothing about and in turn I can maybe play a part by relaying information to those who know less than me should the occasion arise.
  11. Thank you now you have added to my knowledge. I now know it is a choice the person undertaking the cull makes.
  12. Thank you Moose man now I understand a bit more.
  13. I know we are typing and it's hard to tell sometimes how someone is feeling when they are responding but you sound defensive. It is not my intention to have a go at you. I simply wanted to understand how deer culling worked. I know nothing about it and with my lack of knowledge thought perhaps male deer or older deer were culled. I did not realise mothers with young were culled and whilst I personally find that upsetting as I'm quite sensitive, I make no judgment on what has to be done. I thought this was a place to learn from others.
  14. I too would like to understand the rationale behind the original taking the doe. Is this usual or was it an error? I ask because I don't know anything about hunting of deer.
  15. I'm trying to go with your lighthearted approach but all I can think about is 6000 dead ducks and someone's business has gone t*ts up :(
  16. I've done the odd shoe thing many moons ago when I worked in the City of London. One black patent and one navy blue with a bow on it. Slightly different heels. Got all the way to work by tube without anyone saying anything. It was only pointed out to me when I was sat at my desk. Sent my friend off to buy cheap shoes for the journey home. Also left the ladies loo trailing loo roll in my tights and my skirt tucked into them. The letchy Accounts Director took pleasure in telling me. That was also many moons ago.
  17. A few of the shooting school type grounds have under cover sporting and Crazy Bear in Oxfordshire have installed them. Personally I would rather face the elements than shoot in a shed.
  18. We have this in our road - you can get fined for wheels on the pavement and I don't think we have a sign either. There is a popular cafe at the end of our road and it attracts lots of people in cars and vans. They stopped them parking at the entrance to our road with double yellow lines and bollards to stop pavement parking. Further up you are free to park both sides of the road. In a way parking two wheels on the pavement would help in our road as only the other day a fire engine got stuck. In the end failing to find the owners of two vans parked opposite each other the driver simply pushed his way through, scraping both vans. As we are a London Borough I am surprised the council have not taken advantage of the situation and introduced permit parking as has happened in many boroughs. It's also annoying getting off you drive as people do not leave any room for manoeuvre.
  19. Trap - OT and UT under cover, sporting not.
  20. Got up early Went to Sainsburys Came home and cooked family breakfast Went shooting at my local club - Compak, ABT, Skeet and DTL Came home, fed the family a very late lunch Went to bed for an hour Got up, prepared evening meal Watching a movie with family as I type
  21. Restores your faith in humanity for a short while.
  22. My smiley laughing face did not show up. Keep them coming Ack Ack.
  23. Taylors of Harrogate - a variety of strengths but I like Lazy Sunday.
  24. I have always found him to be polite and friendly having shot with him and quite often around him at various grounds we seem to both frequent. He is all about absolute dedication when in the stand and I imagine if you interrupt that moment you would not find him to be quite so charming but then that is his job not his hobby. Outside of that minute or so when he is "in his world", he is jovial, helpful and interesting to talk to. IMO of course.
