  1. Bike hire guided cycle ride. It's easy and see parts of the city you would not otherwise. Usually includes feeding giant koi and small rowing ferries, great fun. Dinner at Cabbages and Condoms. It's a restaurant in the centre that supports a farm co operative that seeks to help former working girls. Don't take a river trip but get on a river bus ( follow locals and not the touts) it costs next to nothing and it's very authentic ))
  2. Fault is clearly the driver. I can't think of a situation where a stationary object can be liable?

    Week away

Madrid is nice but not for a week, I was there in Sept last and four days was enough. From Bristol Vienna two capitals in one (Bratislava is just a few miles up the road) and stunning. Dubrovnik stunning with cheap car hire great food and loads to do. I have tickets for Berlin but yet to try it. Pula in Croatia is a good spot to pick up venice by boat as its close. Its very cheap to stay there great food and you can visit Tito's holiday resort just up the coast. Its also got a huge amphitheatre.
  4. My force do the checks very quickly and they now clear them for the maximum calibre (whatever that is) and then record it on the data base so that they don't have to do it again. I don't see how that takes into consideration the shooter. Even new land to be added does not get the joint visit and discussion suggested. What surprised me with the whole thing is that they see a farm named but don't know the boundaries what land the farmer may have bought or sold. It seems to me rather pointless.
  5. I thought I didn't recognise the wheels. I always wanted a lotus cortina till i drove one.
  6. I had to submit a 646 form with my application signed by the farmer. I was told that subsequent land could be called in or send more forms. I sent half a dozen 646 forms to be called and told they could not process them without a signature. I asked for them to be returned and I would call in. I was told that as they had now seen the forms they could not take a call to check the land as they had seen the forms. I submitted a formal complaint. I then received a call to say that all of the land was cleared with the exception of one piece and the signature requirement was to make it easier to check the land. The response I have received does not directly address the issues that i raised and my next course of action (if i wanted to take it forward) would be the police complaints authority. My new Chief Constable is Andy Marsh so that may help.
  7. Is that a Morris Marina?
  8. Home Office guidance March 2015 Applicants are required to enter the calibre and type of firearm(s) and ammunition to be purchased or acquired. The information will normally need to be specific and not cover a range of calibres or a generic group such as .22 CF (centrefire).
  9. My 5kw easily heats an area of about 50m2 and a height of about 6m and we regulate the heat by further increasing the air space by opening the rooms to the bedrooms (its a bungalow). The house is very well insulated (cavity, internal lining under floor etc) and the height helps the warm air to move up and into the rest of the space. I guess if you have a lot of heat and no way to move it around then the area close to the fire will be too hot and the area outside too cold. I think if you speak to the people supplying your stove you will get better advice.
  10. External vent which is vermin proof is always open unless you close the bottom draw supply. If you close it and left the front vent open it would only draw air from the room. Our rooms are pretty tight on air gaps so the fire would probably not draw so well left like this although it would run. Not sure why you would want to draw the air from the room with the fire on as the air coming in from the room would be replaced by air from outside which would be cold? What is surprising is the amount of air it draws from outside it like a vacuum cleaner so if it drew that from the room then a lot more fuel would be required. Although I guess you get better air circulation rather than relying simply on convection.

  12. Not if you draw air directly to the fire from outside.
  13. Sounds great well done for organising. Will it be good weather?
  14. Which suggests most of them are pretty good. Griddle on mine could be better. Windows work quite well. Fire has a front vent which draws from the room if you want it.
  15. Its worth looking at one that can be back fed with air for which you will need an outside wall or floor cavity. Imagine the amount of air going up the chimney when its running (like a jet engine) this is the amount air is replaced by air from outside into the room through a vent. If you link directly to the outside (for air) then this cold air circuit is removed. Whilst the stove willl burn with the same level of efficiency removing the need to draw air from the room significantly increases the warmth to the room allowing less fuel or smaller stove. My 5kw badger morso heats a room at least 50m2 with ease.
  16. That's the place. Specials too.

    Skiing

That's busy for Poland Every year I ski in Slovakia in the Tatra's and its full of Polish who come over for the skiing. There are more Polish thanSlovaks.
  18. Sad sad loss. Clubbing late 70's early 80's was made with Bowie music. Lanchester poly, Bunty's, Pink Parrot, Tic Toc, Mr G's thank you for making my time so awesome.
  19. Whats it worth now? More than it cost i bet?
  20. Compromise or capitulation? Its late in the day for finding such differences in outlook between partners.
  21. I wonder if they loose anything at all after the initial few years. How much was the sp equivalent 20 years ago? My guess would be in reasonable condition they will hold their value? Anyone got receipts for a 20 year old 686?
  22. Eventually I find my host and take the small track down to the beach for a pre shoot briefing. Its lashing down with rain and feels at least minus ten outside.I try to extend the in car discussion to prolong my eventual departure from the warmth of the car. There is no respite and out I go. Trying to get waterproof trousers and wellingtons on in the darkness, I thankfully manage the circus act and avoid putting my sock clad feet into the wet mud. I make my way down the foreshore stumbling over the outlet pipe down the track looking for a useful piece of flotsam upon which to park. i stumble across a small tree log and roll it into what looks like elephant grass at the edge of the beach and step inside to wait. Its still lashing down so I decide to put my hands inside my top pockets and rest the gun in my lap. The two coats I have on are working but the rain is finding its way into my sleeve and down the inside of my pockets. I keep my head down to keep the worst of the wind and the rain out of my face and away from my neck, whilst at least trying to look at the sky.I sit and wait. It must be nearly an hour before it starts to look a little lighter and out comes my hand to find the wet pocket that contains my phone. My coat is too wet and my hands too cold to extract the phone so I have to stand and take a look to see that only twenty minutes has dragged by. its colder now. Did something fly by? I sit back down and wait. The cold is now creeping through my thermal layers and i realise that the waterproof trousers are no longer waterproof. Did something fly by? I sit and wait. The cold from the log upon which I am parked is gradually reaching my bones. What did my mum say about getting piles from sitting on a cold seat? I sit and wait. Something flies by and I try to stand to prepare to shoot. My legs and hands have seized and lifting my head allows cold water to move inside my hood and find my neck. I look up to see a few passing gulls and I sit back down and wait. At last its light and i look at my phone to see that an hour has passed, that's enough and head back the way I came. When i get to the cars I see my host still sitting in the warm car. I could tell it would not be any good today he says with a smile the sea is too calm. **** I think. As i get back to my shooting buddy already in our car. At least we tried it he says. ****. I think. Any day is better than this.
