  1. Never been a fan of the all you can eat restaurants to be honest, I watch people in there get a plate full go back to their table get a plastic container out with a lid, slide the contents of the plate into the container, put the lid back on, look round to make sure no staff are watching then back up again and repeat the process several times, I will refrain from mentioning who does it the most but it seems to me that they are all at it. They only seem to eat a small amount most of it is deposited in containers and they walk out with those insulated carrier bags full up, which they didn't seem to have when they come in and sit down. Apart from the food being pretty much bland in these places, apart from the one I went to last night, That is pretty much my main gripe with them.
  2. Anyone else been here? Went last night with the wife and kids and got to say it was tip top. Not a fan of these buffet style places but here was on another level, food was fresh, loads and I mean loads to choose from, not just Chinese there was even a full english roast, turkish, indian, pizza to name a few. I had seafood lots of seafood, crab claws, squid, prawns so many variety of prawns there didn't know what to go for but at 15 quid a head and up as many times as you like or until you start to embarrass the wife you have the time to try them all. Drinks however bit on the stout side. If your driving the bottomless coke is the way forward. Well worth a visit.
  3. We....or should I say the wife has a Kirby no idea how old it is but its still very powerful, and noisy....very noisy!! But its pretty much bullet proof all sorts of things have been sucked up by that thing and done it no damage at all. I have a Henry in my workshop and as said its the dogs danglies.
  4. Very nice, love the handle. grain has really popped. You mentioned a Lansky is it the deluxe one with the yellow to black stones? If so if you haven't used one before I would recommend a bit of practice on some scrap the same width as your good blade, The instructions aren't great and there are different angles you can slide the rods on, pick the wrong one and you can seriously scratch your polished blade and make a whole lot more work for yourself. Know this from experience, I wasnt a happy chap. Bit of practice and you get a seriously scarily sharp edge, Just remember you need to get the burr on the opposite edge before you flip it. otherwise it don't work.
  5. Cannot recommend a model but can recommend do not get a solar powered one they are **** with a capital S
  6. If the weather predictions are correct its going to be hell literally up there
  7. And the UK has no laws about these temperatures in the workplace. Spain etc if it goes above 30 you get sent home. My van (no air con) will be like a small forge and in London traffic even with the windows open will be unbearable. Not looking forward to it at all. I can see fan sales rocketing.
  8. I had a mid life crisis when I got me PPI through. When I was 17 the car to own was either a Ford Mexico mk1/2 or An RS2000 MK2 but on my apprentice toolmakers wage both where out of my reach, Now I'm 50 and got me PPI through surprisingly both are still out of my reach. MK2 RS2000 in reasonable condition......19 to 22 grand. Mint? don't even go there. I'm sticking with me fiesta for now.
  9. That's the Barnet Diablo, big bulky thing, however very easy to modify into a very powerful slingbow. Two cable ties and a key ring ring bigger the better.
  10. Nice work Ditchman, are you going to be using it regular? Just that I have been perusing a few catapult forums and the general consensus is that the screw method of securing the bands is not that reliable. A ball bearing pushed into the elastic or wrapped round a small rod on each prong seems to be the prefered method. I'm no expert but they all seem to use those methods rather than the screw, apparently it wears the elastic very quickly and may result in the loss of an eye.
  11. One of the organisers of the London protests was a proper posh bird whose dad owned the largest haulage company in Surrey. Hmm lorries, diesel fumes, pollution. Lets hold up london to ease my conscience, not forgetting to park my Bentley away from the media.
  12. As a driver in London, when they where there chaining themselves to anything that didn't move and some things that did. I have to admit the police with their knee jerk reaction to everything in London caused more congestion and chaos than the protestors could have ever hoped to achieve. The police closed roads that were not even close to where the protesters where or going, pretty much bringing London to a standstill which was what the protesters hoped to do over two weeks, and in the end didn't have to lift a finger to cause a fortnight of sheer carnage up there the rozzers did it for them
  13. Very nice, being a burl handle might I suggest some zapp it on the small holes and imperfections. Though they add character after time they will start to disintegrate. Even though its stabilized little bits will start to fall out. Zapp it will stop it. English handmade knives stock it. I use burls quite a bit and found out the hard way when I put the handle on a belt sander and wasn't left with much wood at all.
  14. I'm making 4 at the moment just finished casting the ally cores three are 6mm one is 10mm thick. Just planning the laminates now.
  15. Theraband gold tapered 25 down to 20 is pretty much the tops in catty elastic, hasn't got the life of tubes but is far more powerful, easily put a 9mm lead ball through a door at 20 meters.
  16. I make them, sold quite a few. Here's one I made earlier. Got a few in the pipeline at the moment all with aluminium cores and exotic laminates.
  17. Yep very nice crisps but not a patch on Marmite flavour, not the walkers ones the original Marmite in the black packet.
  18. I have a 18v cordless Milwaukee and to be honest its ****!! I replaced my Einhell with it and immediately wished I hadn't.
  19. Yes Jenks and Cattel made it. Bearded axes are quite the collectors items , I've made a few from old axe heads and they dont hang around on ebay for long. I'm still mastering the etching to make a real viking style axe. There are a lot of tutorials on you tube but they don't tell you the chemicals involved. There seems to be three they all use one does the actual etching. Then another goes on which looks like it removes it, then another which really darkens it and makes it really pop out. If you decide to fix and keep I would definitely give the axe head a mirror polish. a nice hickory handle coloured heare and there with a blow torch and then oiled and it will look the dogs!
  20. Its a Jenks and Cattel by the looks of the sticker on the handle and not of any particular value. Probably get a score for it on ebay. I would take an angle grinder to it and turn it into a bearded axe, Mirror polish it and give it a nice shaped handle with a leather weave at the top. Then put it on ebay and watch the bids pile up.
  21. In my experience as a full time delivery driver, parking tickets are almost impossible to get waived. I think the only time I got one waived was when I caught the warden slapping a ticket on me windscreen without his hat on, Managed to grab a picture of him, he told me it wouldn't make any difference but his superiours thought otherwise and waived the fine. Good luck with your situation but to be honest even if you do go to court I doubt it will go your way. As said above you can't prove otherwise,
