  1. As an apprentice i had to break the ice on the water butt at work so we could dip our hands in, it does work but it's painful at first! I use some string knitted fingerless gloves, hard wearing and warm
  2. Smile says it all! Doesn't get better than that!
  3. Another enjoyable vid Ollie great shooting!
  4. Enjoyed that b325, cheers for posting!
  5. Sounds a great days shooting! I know what you mean about the young un's they act like ferals, trying to land on your magnet, coming in whilst your shooting, doesn't seem right to shoot them.
  6. The pigeons could well come from any direction in light wind but will always turn into the wind to land, I've found pigeons don't like popping over a hedge to be faced by a whirly, (it was a high thick hawthorn mind),if they can see it from a distance it works better good luck and report back how it goes!
  7. Ever build stiks all is very good, that would do it,and as Matt said you don't want to pollute water but also put off the mink with strong smelling treatment
  8. Happy birthday You old Jdog! Who took the picture then?
  9. Great shooting Daz! Cheers for posting!

  14. Cheers Aga man that's kind of you to say! That sounds a good evenings flightlining!
  15. Today I headed for the outskirts of grimsby on the kind invitation of Jdog, we planned to meet for 1pm at a pub just off the a180 where I've met him before but thinking about it nearly a year ago, due to Friday traffic an accident and me forgetting which junction it was I was running 30 mins late! No problem I'll ring him, no phone! I'd left it on charge at home, arrghh! Jdog is a stickler for punctuality and had left the pub and was reccying a field where he and agaman have had a good day in the past but could I eck as like figure out how to get to it and with no phone I couldn't get hold of him, arrgh! Frantically I crossed the a180 trying to remember how to get to him by this time he has moved to our shooting spot so I parked up scrambled down an embankment through a hedge and into the field shouting and waving like a loon! Jdog had tried to ring me and had given me up for dead, by now it was 2:30pm I'd been an hour! Anyway drove to the spot, a large wheat stubble surrounded by three other wheat stubbles I placed a rope banger on the furthest field as instructed and made my way to Jdog's set up,due to footpaths, roads and wind direction we shared the same hide, the pattern was set, magnet to the left and a few dead birds and decoys I added my magnet to the right and settled in, Jdog had already added 5 to the pattern I then missed three before finding my stride but I didn't shoot well, inconsistent! We were plagued by ferals and it was hard to pick the woodies out,all day we took turns and steadily built a bag, neither of us keeping track just chatting and shooting and p**s taking, but sharing a hide you get to see each other's shooting and Jdog identified that I mount way to early on some shots and invariably miss! I know it's often mentioned in reports on Jdog's shared days but it is a pleasure to witness some of his shots,I can think of three fast 45yrd crossers that he killed really well with the birds flying into his shot string snapping there heads back, instinctive snap shooting at its best, we both missed a few (me more so) birds came from several directions but all afternoon was a steady return line right to left but well out and high, birds did fall for the pattern but the majority sailed passed, one that paid the price contained a crop full of beans! Anyway the birds had tailed off by 6:15pm so we set to and packed up,jasper picked a couple of birds that made the tree line making our final tally 61 wood pigeons and 5 ferals, which surprised us both as it had been a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon dispite my nightmare start!
