Little boy mauled to death in Caerphilly 😔
serrac replied to WalkedUp's topic in Dogs and Dog Training
Watching the series "Pit Bulls and Parolees" changed my mind somewhat on this. Bearing in mind why the breed was created in the first place most of the dogs featured seem to be happy affectionate animals even after abandonment and in many cases obvious abuse. Same with Cesar Milan's programs. Sadly their reputation and innate destructive abilities too often appeal to the very folks who should never be allowed to own a dog of any type. And of course there are some dogs that are just plain aggressive and unpredictable and the right thing to do is cull them from the population before something awful happens. -
My all time favourite novelist - his writing could suck you in until you felt like you were part of the story. If you're never read anything by him, "Eagle in the Sky" would be a great place to start.

End of online anonymity following Sir David Amess' Death

Not so sure about this, the VPN I use to access my employer's systems is a different animal from the ones offered as a service to enable anonymity and access to regionally restricted content. There have already been cases where government agencies have forced VPN providers to surrender identities of "persons of interest" (i.e. HideMyAss if I recall correctly). It would probably be sufficient to pass legislation enabling official access to personal data of VPN users to make public VPNs unattractive to most. Fortunately offshoring would make enforcing this rather tricky. -
I should have retired at 60 on 2/3 of my final salary. Unfortunately I was made redundant after 31 years service and missed out on the last 11 years contributions. It still started to pay out when I reached 60 but the monthly payments are about half what I was on when I was made redundant in 2007. Absolutely not enough to live on so I work on until my state pension kicks in at 66 - fortunately I still enjoy my work to some extent. The scary thing is my current employer and I are paying £400 per month into their pension scheme and I'll have been there 14 years when I retire. I'll be taking the whole lot as a lump sum and sticking it in the bank because if I take a 25% lump sum and purchase an annuity with the rest it will pay the princely sum of £800... A YEAR! The final pot will be 1/7th the size of the one from my previous employer. How young people are expected to provide for their retirement in today's economy is beyond me...

It may be a wash when it comes to smoking - fumes and ash from either can't be good for the lungs. Cannabis at least can be used in other forms such as edibles which obviate that particular risk. However, it's fairly well established that heavy use of cannabis among teens and young adults is a risk for mental issues such as psychosis and schizophrenia. This is likely exacerbated by the preference among serious users for strains of increasingly high THC content.

Very true - my house is worth around 4 times what I paid for it in 1993 whereas my wage hasn't even doubled despite considerable career progression in the meantime. My son who is nudging 40 and a senior software engineer is struggling to make the move into a house similar to what I bought at 25 as a lab technician.

Same here, unless it smells anything like CBD oil tastes - i.e. like licking last year's fermented grass trimmings off the bottom of the lawnmower 🙂

Predictions for the rematch (assuming it happens)? Repeat of last night or Joshua comes out with a new, better game plan like he did with Ruiz? Personally I think repeat of last night, unfortunately - it's hard to knock out someone you can't hit...

I have a perfectly good TomTom which lives in a drawer in the garage because they stopped publishing maps for that particular model several years ago. To be fair they offered me a derisory discount on their current models as compensation.

As usual, resort to smear tactics when you can't address the substance of the content. So the vaccine now also cures blood clots from all other unrelated causes - good to know...
-
How would she know the difference? A significant proportion of covid patients now being admitted are vaccinated. (I'm not convinced a low platelet count is the determinant - there could be more than one mode of action by which the vaccine can cause blood clots) https://westernstandardonline.com/2021/07/bc-doc-says-hes-found-blood-clots-in-62-of-post-jab-patients/

I remember physics class in the '70s, teacher asked does anyone have an air rifle? Yep? Bring it in and we'll do an experiment to demonstrate conservation of momentum. A former colleague told me one of his classmates went to apprentice as a gamekeeper (a decade or so earlier) and was invited back to the school to give a talk and bring all his kit with him - including his shotgun. Think either scenario might prompt a visit by a swat team these days.

It seems the facts are somewhat malleable. Last time I checked 25-11=14, not 3
-
Such a derogatory term might actually be appropriate... This selfish little hussy, just three days away from being hospitalised with covid, took it upon herself to ignore the incessant warnings to stay at home and self isolate and instead took herself, rancid with virus, along to a vaccination centre and risked spreading it to everyone else waiting in line...

Clots in the lungs following the covid jab are not without precedent. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57260463

Well that escalated quickly, ended up in the hospital

As I recall, Tramadol is a synthetic form of Codeine. My previous lab Mac had to have an eye removed at 9yo due to what was believed to be a tumour but turned out to be a completely detached retina. He was in obvious pain so the vet gave him Tramadol to tide him over the weekend before he went in for surgery on the Monday. I remember him rolling about the floor without a care in the world like a 3 month old puppy Good stuff in the short term but can be addictive like Codeine. -
Seems fair 😂

Fair enough - one last question then. By what method do they determine that all members of this cohort are biologically incapable of becoming infected Challenge studies are only now getting underway for any of the covid vaccines)? "60% protection from infection - sterilising"
-
So now you are begging the question - trying to refute my statement that a vaccine that doesn't prevent infection or transmission can't contribute to herd immunity by asserting that it does in fact prevent infection. This is incorrect, for herd immunity you need whatever percentage level protection from transmission. This cannot be achieved with a non-sterilising vaccine such as the current crop of Covid jabs. As per the HMS Queen Elizabeth example the virus is able to circulate among even a 100% jabbed population which would do nothing to protect the ~40% without natural or vaccine immunity in your 60% scenario. If this is what herd immunity actually looks like we are being served a bill of goods. I concede this point by the way 😀
-
A "vaccine" which is admitted to not prevent infection or transmission can contribute nothing to herd immunity. There was an outbreak of "cases" on HMS Queen Elizabeth despite 100% of the crew having been double jabbed.

There IS however a perceptible increase in deaths along with the spike seen in your graphics. Deaths which arguably would not have occurred in the absence of the spike. Thankfully not on the same scale as you say. True to some extent but doesn't fully explain the situation. For example Latvia conducts more tests per day than the Netherlands yet is way down in the noise floor as regards cases recorded. I will note however that Latvia's vaccination rate is 50% of the Netherlands yet the disparity in cases appears to be much more than that, suggesting other factors are in play - perhaps the types of vaccines favored in the different regions.
-
I think you missed the point that there was a massive spike in cases per million (which likely resulted in additional deaths) in the highly vaccinated countries which was not reflected in low vaccination rate countries. Hard to impose a narrative on that data that favours vaccination. May be true, but much of the coercive pressure for vaccination is based on the implication that the unvaxxed are selfishly putting "others" at risk. We are vaccinating younger and younger cohorts who's risk from Covid is already effectively zero, and some of them are becoming seriously ill from the Jab. Why? To protect granny etc etc.
