  1. The same argument could be made 1000x for a Covid Vaccine... https://helenaglass.wpcomstaging.com/2020/08/05/covid-vaccine-a-possible-hoax-for-quick-money/ Hydroxychloroquine has been in use for ~65 years for Malaria, for which it is an over the counter medicine in several countries. It is also used long-term for conditions such as Lupus, where again it is considered to have an excellent safety record. Banning or discouraging it's use under proper medical supervision for Covid is pointless, and while there remains the possibility it might be helpful, dangerous. What would qualify as "any effect"? "In the multivariable Cox regression model of mortality using the group receiving neither hydroxychloroquine or azithromycin as the reference, treatment with hydroxychloroquine alone decreased the mortality hazard ratio by 66% (p < 0.001), and hydroxychloroquine + azithromycin decreased the mortality hazard ratio by 71% (p < 0.001). " OK here are a few more for you to "debunk" https://c19study.com/ Science has many facets, not just Pharma rigged sponsored trials. http://www.plata.com.mx/enUS/More/392?idioma=2
  2. Then there's this from 15 years ago. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16115318/
  3. Could you please list these "proper trials".

And where will all these rigorous independent peer reviewers come from when most publications and scientific institutions working in the field are taking a substantial part of their funding in the form of grants from Pharma businesses?

It seems the editors of the Lancet might have some some issues with that statement: https://vaccineimpact.com/2020/editors-of-the-lancet-and-the-new-england-journal-of-medicine-pharmaceutical-companies-are-so-financially-powerful-they-pressure-us-to-accept-papers/ In a videotaped interview on May 24, 2020, Dr. Douste-Blazy provided insight into how a series of negative hydroxychloroquine studies got published in prestigious medical journals. He revealed that at a recent Chatham House top secret, closed door meeting attended by experts only, the editors of both, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine expressed their exasperation citing the pressures put on them by pharmaceutical companies. He states that each of the editors used the word โ€œcriminalโ€ to describe the erosion of science. He quotes Dr. Richard Horton who bemoaned the current state of science:

  7. Um, after you, I think... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3335060/ Immunization with SARS Coronavirus Vaccines Leads to Pulmonary Immunopathology on Challenge with the SARS Virus "That lung disease exhibited the characteristics of a Th2-type immunopathology with eosinophils in the lung sections suggesting hypersensitivity that was reminiscent of the descriptions of the Th2-type immunopathologic reaction in young children given an inactivated RSV vaccine and subsequently infected with naturally-occurring RSV [32]โ€“[33]. Most of these children experienced severe disease with infection that led to a high frequency of hospitalizations; two children died from the infection [33], [40], [41]. The conclusion from that experience was clear; RSV lung disease was enhanced by the prior vaccination."
  8. Mine has a sound like a very gentle growl when he is anticipating something good - maybe a walk but mostly food - he is a lab after all... :-)
  9. Wonder what will happen to them when they ban single-use cups...
  10. Or his description of a deadly Australian spider that likes to hide under toilet seats. "If it bites you, you've got less than four minutes to work out how to apply the tourniquet!"
  11. Ha Ha, The old Aussie guy on the right is Tommy Emmanuel, reckoned by many to be the greatest living acoustic guitarist. If you like Ukelele check out Brittni Paiva:

    BREXIT

And if Boris stood up on the 14th of October and said "well actually I don't know if it would be lawful under Article 50 to request a further extension and will not do so until the issue is clarified by the courts". Could make for an interesting second half to October :-).

    BREXIT

And what if requesting a further extension turns out to be a breach of the terms of Article 50 and therefore unlawful? https://lawyersforbritain.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Article-50-TEU-Part-I-and-Part-II-23.5.19-by-Stanley-Brodie-QC.pdf Hmm, bit of a conundrum. Given the importance if this issue the question needs to be put through both the UK and EU courts before an extension is requested so we can be REALLY sure the rule of law is being properly upheld, as all the remoaners seem so keen on all of a sudden. Of course time's a bit short now...
  14. tried clearing your browser cache, or using a different browser?
  15. Years ago my son hit the brakes for a hedgehog. His best mate ran in to the back of him writing off both cars. Expensive little blighters ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. Been there, feel for you. My wife says Louie will be our last, I'm not so sure...
  17. "The most popular gun is a rifle, followed by 1.4 million separately licenced shotguns, with just two per cent of applicants being refused in 2018/19." Eh? Maybe if you include air-rifles...
  18. Huh! so you're actually buying an actual farm. Thank goodness for that! I read it as "so it looks like I might be buying the farm" Something else entirely ๐Ÿ˜
  19. I once dropped into Morrisons to fill up the X3 Had to queue for quite a while but eventually got the rear pump. The customer at the pump in front drove out so I decided to drive through and park next to the kiosk. Meanwhile the guy waiting behind me had decided not to wait any longer and driven out onto the street and back in the Exit - only to find me now sitting next to the front pump with nowhere to go because he was in front of me and someone had also pulled in behind. From the gesticulations and mouthed swear words I gathered he was not too happy having to reverse back out. I mouthed back that I was actually trying to get out of his way... Of course there was also a queue to pay so he was at the back of the queue when I was leaving. He didn't respond to my little smile as I walked past but then I was about twice his size ๐Ÿ™‚
  20. Hmm, that sounds like the Whitchester estate that used to belong to the Landale family. My Mum grew up there as my Grandfather was the head forester on the estate. I knew the old gamekeeper back in the day - Jimmy Menzies (Minges to us) - he used to turn a blind eye to us young 'uns fishing in the Laird's trout pond :-) Sad to see something like this going on...
  21. My son scored a lathe with milling head from his work who were about to chuck it, mostly because it was hardly used. Not one of these toy mini-lathes either - half dismantled it to move it and the two of us could only just lift the bed section into the garage. It didn't make it into the skip which is just as well as it probably wouldn't have come out very easily.
  22. I had a .177 Sharp Innova - bought it 2nd hand in the 1980's and sold it just last year. They are a bit of a collector's item now - I got 3.5 times what I paid for it originally. Even though it produced ~12ft lbs when fully pumped up I always thought it was build like a toy - lots of plastic and very rudimentary woodwork. Very lightweight but the time required to pump up between shots and the resulting wobbly arms meant I eventually decided it wasn't really a good hunting tool - especially compared to the options available today. Webley do/did sell a chinese made "copy" of the Innova which looks better styled but is not considered to be of the same quality(which is a bit worrying...). What I did like about it is just couple of pumps gave a low power shot suitable for plinking indoors. Regards Mike
  23. I'm not sure this is credible: "Of course, while cheaper cars would be welcomed by U.K. consumers it would lead to more cars on the road, increasing congestion and reducing the U.K.โ€™s economic competitiveness." Cheaper cars are already available in the UK, they are generally known as "used" or "pre-owned". The decision to buy and drive a car is based on a perceived need for that form of transport, which only very loosely related to the price of new cars. A more likely outcome is more existing drivers being able to afford to drive a newer less polluting vehicle which is a good thing for the environment.
  24. All this will soon be moot. On the news this morning - new EU regulation - all cars sold from 2022 to contain technology to read speed signs and keep said car within the posted limit. The UK intends to implement this ruling. (maybe I'm on the wrong thread...)
  25. Very few around Fife/central Scotland. Can't remember the last time I saw a bunch on the verges at the side of the road in the headlights - used to be a pretty regular sight. On the other hand I did see some very young ones in the park 2 mins from my house a few months ago - so maybe...
