Take all the lead out .then shoot the primer with an airgun at 30 yds .it will just go pop . Don't shoot it with the lead in as it could fly back at you .empty all the powder in a pile and burn it with a match . If you shoot the cartridge in your gun (without lead. )but with powder and wad you will get pop and a load of unburnt powder all down your barrel and possibly a stuck wad .which is fine if its easy to rod out ?

As long as you don't push that blockage by force into the barrel accidentally. Often the issue with a mag that won't let you push the bolt forward after the last shot is , you can't store the empty mag in your gun .not an issue if you have on gun storage but not ideal to find you have gone out hunting and your magazine is in a pocket of your other jacket .

No your right .410 tss will be much much cheaper than a tss 12b .

Just buy the .410 you fancy a 1000 carts and enjoy .if you have to stop. Then £300 on the gun and £ 350 on carts Isn't the end of the world .jeepers a decent sh 12b will cost that . Also I don't find that there is a huge difference in cartridge price between .410 and 12 these days . I pay around £100 a slab for .410 and £90 for 12 b Since they announced the 5 year transition period back in 2021 ? Was it ? I've bought 3 .410s sold one still have the other 2 . I shoot them more than any other gun these days .

I like them .I had one on oder when they were first announced. But after waiting almost a year. I gave up and bought a sh mossberg .410 . Now they are everywhere .I was waiting for the 24 or 26 inch barrel version not the 28 . Cos I wanted to add a mod on the end . I still think they are great value .

A mate had a Jimmy with big very knobbly tires .it was literally unstoppable in everything .tractors would get bogged down and that thing just went over it all no problem .

No I think 3 - 5 shots per cartridge /choke would have been a bit better than a single shot per choke .but it clearly shows that not much is changing between chokes even with just 1 shot each . I accept all of stoneparks comments above including where he says basically if the chokes are of poor quality (not well designed ) they will produce patterns with very little difference and I guess kofs make and fit these chokes on there .410 s . I wonder how precise a very good quality choke has to be on a quality gun to produce excellent patterns that we would expect from cylinder through to full .in .410 ? Maybe it's just very hard to reproduce pattern size consistency from a .410 compared to 12b ?

So a new utube vid out today .field sport with speed. He choke tests a kofs .410 from skeet to full at 30 yds and finds there is no difference in pattern size at all between them .confirming exactly what I said above .but hey I know nothing eh ? .hull high pheasant 18 grm no7 fibre exactly the same cart I prefer to use .

Well that's the theory at least The reality is somewhat different . A .410 has all its pellets stacked in a long thin column in the cartridge and there are probably around 6 pellets across the width of it .compare that to a 12 b where you have maybe 20 - 25 pellets across the width in the cartridge and hence in the bore as it passes through the choke the choke constriction helps force these 25 pellets together holding them together for a longer range .the same doesn't work so well with the 6 pellets across in the .410 choke .this is why the constriction difference between full and cylinder in .410 is very slight and much more in 12b as it works much better in 12 than .410 .

The main difference in 12 /20 and .410 is that choke makes a bigger difference on the bigger bores . So when you swap the choke from cylinder to full on a 12 b there is a huge pattern spread difference at your chosen range . With a.410 there is virtually no difference hence why multi choke .410s aren't so common, and the guns that do have them are mainly for show .

I have 12 20 and .410 and if I put a 1/2 choke in all 3 and shoot at the same distance say 25 yds the patterns are basically the same size .obviously the 18 grm load of the .410 has less pellets so density is lower than a 28 grm 12 or 20 b but the size is the same so it's just as easy /hard to hit a 25 yd clay /bird with a .410 as it is with a 12 b The difference comes when you move out to 35 yd plus and your patterns are still the same size but the .410 pellet density isn't sufficient to consistently break clays or kill birds . When I go to the clay ground I use my ou .410 it's more enjoyable (after all that why I'm there ) and as long as I only shoot at targets up to 35 yds I can break them just fine .

He should suggest people shoot .410 guns or moderated guns .that will keep the noise down .

OK just out of interest if you select a different tp setting is the gun consistent or does the energy creep up then ? . Maybe your knock open valve is sticking open longer than it should giving higher readings .this would probably be due to either .A. weakening valve spring .B a sticky valve stem (corrosion possibly ) or C . a deformed valve head .

Desperate to recruit I suspect . It's probably also easy to make them fight when they have been dropped behind enemy lines .

Next question .does your gun have any sort of short curve though it's entire shot Count .similar to an un regged gun ? Ie starts lower on power raises to a maximum energy around 150 bar then drops off slowly till its below acceptable power levels .? If so then the reg is stuck open and your shooting of main cylinder pressure .. Also just looking at fx crown mk2 images they have a 3 stage transfer port adjuster. Does yours have this and does it work and what's it set at and does it make a difference if adjusted . Shot to shot sd will usually be better if a narrow t.p. is selected over a large one . I think .

I think that if your hammer spring is so easy for you to adjust , then maybe its possible that it's self adjusting .though they usually tend to wind out so power goes down not up .but I don't know your mechanism exactly . If you have just altered it and the sd has dropped to 2 I feel that this is the place you should be looking and not the reg . See how it is tomorrow and report back .

So looking at your shot strings above .on the 2nd of March you were getting around 714 fps with little a 9 fps spread then 12 hours later ,next day you were getting around 730 fps with and a spread of 23 fps . So this sounds to me like a hammer spring issue .I'm no reg expert . But the reg (measures out a set pressure into the plenum ) and the knock open valve takes air from that plenum instead of the main reservoir. When a reg tends to fail the washers start to stick and the pressure in the plenum either fills too slowly (fast shooting can result in low power shots ) or it doesn't fill the plenum to the correct pressure = the odd low power shot. If the reg is sticking open then you will be pulling air directly from the main reservoir + plenum and this can give higher power readings . But if the hammer spring isn't consistently pushing the hammer and knocking open the main firing valve then the best reg in the world isn't going to give you consistent readings. If the hammer has too much oil/lube it can alter the speed that it is released .the spring can bind and then release shot to shot (look at the ends it may be broken ) the fact its been left over night and possibly warmed up suggests that lubrication somewhere may be the issue . Look to the hammer assembly first its easier to diagnose and fix . Check the knock open valve is OK also .orings and return springs .then lastly the reg . Regs tend not to like being adjusted too much .the more you mess with it the less reliable it will become (usually ) If the reg is at fault then its either a reg service or replacement .

I've just picked up a 20 year old mk1 bsa lightening .it's in excellent external condition , and looks to have been worked on internally . It's running at around 9.5 fpe with jsb rs .177 .and is so smooth to cock and shoot its amazing .I thought it may have been a gas ram conversion at first but no, I found the spring OK. Accuracy is excellent out to 35 yds with most pellets tried , it doesn't seem overly fussy but definitely preferes the lighter offerings . It just goes to confirm my statement above that if you find an older well run in gun that's in harmony it will be a joy to shoot . I used to have a hw 30 that gun was easily the most accurate springer I've ever shot .but only to 30 yds or so when the power dropped off a bit too much .

I use tabasco original on loads of stuff .pastas .rice dishes .beans .meats .nothing escapes . The green tabasco I love on pizza The Chipotle also on pizza but also on meats like sausages and steak. The habenaro (hottest ) goes in chilli's and on rice dishes . And the siracha goes on fish dishes it works so well . My scotch bonnet (not tabasco ) goes in fajitas and other Mexican dishes hot hot hot .

Mine I starting to grow I expect I will cut it mid march when we get a dry afternoon .just a little off the top .
