  1. I only did this once, decades ago, and really did not enjoy it so have never repeated the experience. I recognise it can be an essential cull but it’s not for me.
  2. Yes standard in Scotland, will be going through it all tomorrow.
  3. Montrose bag company. Huge good value and well made
  4. Just topped up the tank and the price is 20p/litre cheaper then the start of the year. I am paying less for 1000 litres than I paid for 600 in January. Get your tanks topped up!
  5. Just received a detailed letter from Police Scotland setting out how my certificate will be renewed in lockdown four months in advance. Good active policing in my view and to be commended.
  6. I shoot everything from 27” to 36” through the season depending which gun I take out. I can tell you it makes not a jot of difference....I miss with the same regularity in every case. 😂
  7. You should be able to get a specialist locksmith to read the key code and replace it with a blank chipped key. I had a couple done when I bought a 53plate l200 many years ago. Obviously finding a motor locksmith open is another matter. Good luck.
  8. Hi no problem with the questions. I use wool felt or baize and got this from a haberdashers. I am pretty sure you can also buy it by the metre from Dunelm. If you can get a sheet that has come off a pool or snooker table it is ready aged. I have a roll of that too. Traditionally it is glued down with pearl glue but I cheat. I water down waterproof PVA adhesive so it can be brushed on to the wood. I the flatten the felt on with a cold iron and clamp between two pieces of timber until dry. Might be more difficult in large drawers but shouldn’t be impossible. There is a bit of a knack to getting corners and returns right and I am learning that as I go along. I cut with steel rule and scalpel. Hope this helps and good luck
  9. I have had springers and labs for forty years now and the labs will eat any cr*p that comes their way when free running. At present grass as it tastes good and constantly chewing sticks. Cow and sheep 💩 is treated as desert. When at heel or working no problems. I have never had a problem in all this time and have tried all types of vitamin supplements. If you are worried about poison etc yes a muzzle. I personally do not worry about mine from experience but do have pups insured as they are most vulnerable. I have fungi about but have never seen a dog eating it.
  10. Well just finished fitting out an old box I picked up years ago from scratch. It’s for one of the percussion guns and just needs the screws in the hinge sorting properly. A few things I would do differently on the next one and I have several cases just waiting for attention so there will be plenty of practice with Nicola keeping us in detention. And before you all kick off I agree “Stay at Home”.
  11. Suffering from shock. Key thing is how you reintroduce her to other dogs. I would give her a couple of days and if you have a mate with good soft natured dogs socially distance yourselves and let the dogs play.
  12. I have a range of smocks for winter only, two tweed and two Ridgeline. Would not bother in summer just a lightweight inexpensive goretex. Look at Austrian army Goretex online hardwearing, totally waterproof and inexpensive.
  13. Cracking. I need to get out in the garden with my big lens when I get the chance. Not expecting your quality pics mind you.
  14. I didn’t say he was good in the human sense I said he was good at arguing a case and turning the facts against you. That is not the same thing! If you have ever been cross examined by a good QC you would understand what I mean.
  15. ”I know nothing about the bloke, but when speaking in the house he looks polished, speaks well, better than BJ, which makes him far more dangerous than Corbyn ever was, and he doesn't have to back up anything he says.“ Absolutely agree. You need to remember Starmer is a QC and hence one of the very best in finding flaws in an argument or evidence and turning a perfectly valid argument against you. All the QC’s I know are polished performers well versed in articulating an argument calmly and intelligibly to gain a winning position. This will be a tough five years for Boris whatever he does.
  16. Let me know what they say as mine is due in September
  17. I have always been very happy with my Winchester. Inexpensive, heavyish and seems to take a good edge. Half what you want to spend.
  18. Nothing that can be added in terms of spec. You can pick up a Yeoman now cheap as chips and for the shooting you are doing may find an ejector a pain as you are in a hide so I would not bother looking at the No 4. Auction sites like a Holts have these in numbers.
  19. It depends what your outlook on life is. For general wildfowling I use steel in a ten or twelve bore and certainly shoot most geese with them. But there is nothing quite like taking a 140 year old hammer gun out and using it for the purpose it was built. Aside of clocks there aren’t many pieces of engineering that are still fit for purpose after all that time. I use tm in the eight. So yes it is worth it for this reason alone. Would I bother with a bored out modern ten bore... NO!
  20. Have I missed the point of the question😁?
  21. Absolutely right you want to know ability to work and nature just as much if not more so!
  22. You can get very wound up by all of this. It is right to be thorough and cautious but in my experience disasters are rare these days. I do not breed from my labs but once thought about it with a very good dog. Got him xrayed and the vet told me not to even bother submitting as the hips were so bad. I kept the weight off that dog and kept him fit. He worked without a problem until he was 12, including wildfowling. Good luck whichever way you choose to go.
  23. Yep,still, see them particularly hill and grouse country
  24. Ours is pebble render so the small pebbles are thrown at the wet tender then all painted over.
