  1. In the Tay estuary they use boats for wildfowling due to the vast areas of reed beds that make access to foreshore pretty difficult other than that i think the only other use of boats would be Puntgunning.
  2. I also had some 410 lyalvale cartridges and this happened to them, i wont be buying them again . LYALEVALE.jfif
  3. I would say brown trout, it looks like the ones you get in lough Corrib
  4. You can get buy steel 20 bore cartridges and open the crimp, remove 1/4oz of the steel and replace with 1/4 oz TSS and close the crimp up, that would be the easiest way of doing it . It wont be as good as a pure TSS load but its better than straight steel.
  5. That would be Peter Anderson he died last year i heard that covid got him, he was a nice guy i dont know how true the poaching thing was i know it went to court.
  6. I have the Ninja as well and think it is great, get chicken thighs or drumsticks and give them a coating in pataks tandroori paste and fry for 20 mins and you have a great meal/snack.
  7. I loaded 2 of Zeekups high velocity loads, i fired 1 and did'nt fire the other it must have been way over pressure, i had trouble opening my gun after firing it so i would be careful if you want to try some of his loads. If you want to try some high velocity loads the late BT Justice on the refuge forum published a loading book on 10 bore loads he has loads going up 1650 fps and maybe a couple going a bit faster all his load data has the psi and the fps readings for each one.
  8. I started off with and Argyle in about 1975 we got it from Kays catalogue, think it cost £27.00 it was ok at the time, the thing i remember most about it was the knurled top level you pulled back on to open it was sore on the thumb on a cold day.
  9. This guy here seems to have cornered the market in 20 bore reloading info it everything you would want to know https://sites.google.com/site/hobbyhintstricksideas/home/reloading-modern-20-gauge
  10. The HG load is a good one for ducks there are a few variations of it most of them are mentioned in this page: https://pipesf16.wordpress.com/chronopattern-testing-10gaokie-hg-load-5-flavors/
  11. the 410 trimmer is here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203793576926
  12. Jim i work in tackle shop and get to see lots of waders and the faults they develop most boot foot waders end up leaking at the boot usually the boot cracks, i have been though lots of waders and this year i have settled on a pair of snowbee stockingfoot neoprene waders and i am using the snowbee rock hopper boots the boots are quick to put on and have a zip fastening at the side they also have steel spikes in the sole that make them totally non slip i can walk over bladderwrack covered rocks or up a steep grass covered seawall without slipping or fear of slipping , i have not had that much of a chance to wear them this year ( its been too warm) but i had them on today and they were great. I also have the rockhopper wellington boots i have worn them a lot seatrout fishing on the rocks, wildfowling under a pair of waterproof trousers and in the snow and ice of last winter, you feel invincible in them everyone else was slipping about on the ice and i was walking about thinking "whats the problem" Here is a link to the waders and boots https://www.anglingactive.co.uk/snowbee-rockhopper-spike-sole-wading-boot.html https://www.anglingactive.co.uk/snowbee-neoprene-stockingfoot-chest-wader.html
  13. If the guy out roost shooting had shot some pigeons, he could have opened up the crops of the birds and showed the cops what they had been eating and that would have showed them if the birds had been damaging crops and therefore he would be justified in shooting them.
  14. That is shocking, thats why i reload at least that way i know what is going into my cartridges
  15. Good job it was'nt your first shot with a semi auto it could have been nasty
  16. Its Napolina olive oil in the 750 ml bottle
  17. In the olive oil bottle i have it has 10 plastic fingers and if you remove the top from the bottle ( a bit tricky to do) it fits a 12 bore case nicely.
  18. Go into your kitchen and see if you have a Napolina olive oil bottle, they have plastic fingers inside the lid ( pouring neck) that you can use as wad fingers, you can probably get it in other bottles but i know they are in the naplolina bottles
  19. I just checked 2 tubs of ssb150 and mine only have 20 and 12 bore load data on it as well, i would'nt mid seeing the 10 load data as well
  20. could the primers be "sealed" to make the shell weatherproof with lacquer or something...what cases are they?
  21. What primers and what cases are you using 209 primers are not all the same size
  22. I did try that in one of the earlier variations the push in crimp starter works well, but the crimp finisher is based on the MEC style of finisher where you have a tapered tube with a punch that pushes down and closes the crimp, MEC uses a cam to operate the punch. I have tried doing a spring loaded punch that would push down and close the crimp and then pop up when released and free the cartridge but i could not get it to work well enough.
  23. From a Wildfowlers point of view i would say my distance for steel would be 40 yards max, with the 10bore and BB or BBB maybe 50yds and bear in mind that given the feathers and down on a Duck or Goose can be pretty dense so maybe steel would work at longer distances on Pheasants that dont have much on them in the way of "padding" that Wildfowl have.
  24. When i have checked the weight of the shot load it is within 1 gram of the weight required, these are subsonic loads and i dont think going over the shot weight by a gram would do much. When you check shop bought rounds and cut them open you find they never have the right amount of shot as advertised on the box, i have just opened an RC Superfast 34 gram and that has 34.8 grams of shot in it and that is a high pressure magnum steel load so that should worry me more than a 2.5" low pressure in a 3" chambered gun.
