Hi all Due to a change in circumstances I am selling the above. 28inch barrels, 15 3/4 inch straight hand stock, Professionally extended with walnut. I think 7 chokes, 3 extended briley chokes imported from the us. A pretty rare gun indeed. Please message me for photos. I live down in cornwall but will travel up to somerset at a push, failing that i will RFD it at my expense. Looking for £1250. cheers ZT

Hi all I have used a few bismuth carts in my 16g this season, i wondered.....do they pattern the same as lead? I think I understand that bismuth is slightly lighter that Lead, so a bigger shot may be required. so many questions, it only occurred to me sitting watching the sun go down this evening on a flight pond.
-
Get a 16g......
-
Well done that man, where did you get the carts, i have discovered i rather enjoy sitting near ponds watching the sun go down, oh and the odd duck coming in. looking for a good wildfowling steel cartridge for a 16g. mallard and teal mainly. I have a box of bismuth but they are eye wateringly expensive especially when you shoot as badly as i do.....

I use a 16, if you are shooting large volumes of clays they are probably not the wisest choice, as you say not really a great range of clay carts available. The joy of them to me is that they are lighter than a 12 in general, well the ones that are fun to use for game shooting are, this lightness/quick handling etc does not necessarily mean that they are a great choice for a clay gun, I have shot a few rounds of 100 plus carts and I feel it afterwards. being lighter they are not great at soaking up some of the recoil. It terms of game shooting, I have found it more capable than me and never feel under gunned. I have shot just as good a birds with it as I have with a 12. It terms of decoying I have had my record bag this season with it and found it ok, 160 odd shots was tiring though, compared to using a semi auto 12g. I have tried all of the cartridges I can get hold of through just carts or buying locally. Settled on a 30g 6 load from Lyvale as a mix of what I wanted. They are all ok, some noticeably faster than others. I have done some very basic pattern testing and there is not a massive difference. RC carts are very good, Eley carts are good, Rottweil ones are good, I personally don't like the hull ones. I have two 16s, a William Ford sbs and a Browning White lightening over and under. I use the browning most.

I have two 16s, a browning over an under and a william ford sbs sadly no ejector. I am on the hunt for an ejector sbs. I never feel underguned.

lovely write up. I have a cocker, he is a legend, a pet really, but every now and then astounds me and makes a retrieve my trialling pal is gobsmacked by. the latest one was a teal, shot at last light across a pond and into a thick ditch covered in blackthorn and gorse...off he shot, skirted the pond, then waded/swam across the corner, then disappeared, returned wagging his tail, with the teal in his gob......

are you coming to cornwall any time soon....oh no wait we are locked down again.....

I have a 2010 ford ranger supercab. I find it a bit tail light if that makes sense, I have fitted bf Goodrich KM3s mud terrains on it and still slide about on the mud. has anybody got any sensible ideas for adding weight to the rear. I have in the past filled the spare tyre with water, used cement bags...I have heard about filling rear bumpers with lead? any ideas lads. to answer you question, it is very handy being able to lock stuff in the cab. the bed is big enough for a dumpy bag of wheat to fill up feeders etc..

has the deerhunter pro got a hood?? cheers ZT

How much does your shooting cost per year?
Zimtrout replied to humperdingle's topic in General Shooting Matters
I have previously never really thought about it. having recently become a father which has put a dent in my disposable income I had to have a little tot up. I am a member of two pheasant syndicates, one fully driven £1200, one beat one stand one, £200. I also try to have a few away days..£ 600. I try to get a few clays sessions in, say £300. insurances, basc dog etc £500. cartridges, having recently started using a 16 this has gone up a bit. say 4000 carts a year £1200 roughly. I don't plan on replacing any kit, boots jackets etc so...….I have also not included fuel, one syndicate is 6mins up the road the other is about 30 mins drive. I have recently bought a pick up (£6000, including new offroad tyres etc) by the look of it I cant afford to change or replace a gun anytime soon...... total roughly..... £4000. which I must admit I am a little worried about. Justifying it is wrong I subscribe to the same as some on here, it is what I love to do. However, the fully driven syndicate has proved this season to be a bit of a disappointment, after a massive fall out with the current captain. I recon 8 of ten guns will not return...….We are looking into renting some land and starting a small syndicate with the fall out of the above. -
Interesting, I am not a fan of any of them. I do like that silvers pad though.....
