  1. Its difficult. The stuff is always right up north or so far away that the cost to get it is more than buying new stuff but sometimes you have to get the motor out and go get the stuff. I did this with a Mec 20 bore reloader and the reloading supplies.
  2. Right this isn't advertised but it isn't kept secret either. There is monitoring of the channel on a regular basis. There are aircraft that fly all the way down from Doncaster to Lydd Airport. From Llydd the plane which is fitted with cameras for day and night operation flys up and down the channel roughly from Margate down to Dungeness point. They also have big drones like reaper type jobbies that operate out of a hanger down there. these operate for many many hours. All of this is going on all of the time. Why I don't know what for but it must cost a fortune. I found this out by using flight radar. I happened to click on what appeared to be plane flying around and then I could see that it had been flying up and down the channel for a long time after it had flown down from Doncaster. By checking the plane reg no. It showed the company operating it and on it went. Another time I found that the drones were being used and all about them. Its all out there if you look for it but it isn't advertised. Why is anyone's guess because it has no effect on the immigration numbers. Nothing is mentioned about this. Edit. I just had a look and there was nothing up. I haven't looked for some time so it might have been scrapped or tomorrow something might be on patrol.
  3. One of my daughters has just sent me a msg informing me of potential trouble spots all over the place tomorrow. This info has come from twitter and I remember that the address of a target in Hastings was near where there were running knife fights across a garden square and out onto the sea front between Kosovan and Albanians years ago when the waring factions were put into hotels opposite in a square. I think that plod stood back and let the factions fight it out and then rounded loads up into coaches and then shipped loads of then out somewhere.
  4. I did notice that yesterday after the Cobra meeting that the chief constable of the Met left the meeting with a bit of a rat on. He gripped a reporters microphone and threw it on the ground and made off in an urgent manner, I can quite imagine that he had been given a good kicking inside and read his fortune in the meeting. I can quite see that if there is hot weather there will be trouble ahead. Especially if the general public loose confidence in the police, the politicians and the general belief in the rule of law, if this does happen the army may have to be called in to remove the few ringleaders and settle things down.
  5. I am no fan of the police but I do not hate them as individuals. They have a difficult and often thankless job to do BUT I do think that they often don't help their cause by being arrogant and not appearing to bother or care..l. An example. My sister became aware that a couple of scrotes had scaled the 6ft garden fence and were trawling stuff in the garden shed. She made the call and told the operator that they were still there and IF they came WITHOUT USING SIRENS that they could be caught in the act. There must have been a car along the road. But what did the clowns do..? They turned the sirens on and you could hear them from a distance AND they sat outside for several minutes with the sirens on. When they eventually came to the house they said..... Well where are they....? SISTER WAS NOT BEST PLEASED. To compound this they said "we'll give you a crime report number.!! Sister asked what for.? To claim for a padlock from the insurance,!! There was absolutely no point because the household insurance policy would have increased several times and amounted to fifty times the cost of a new padlock. Pathetic attempt. AND TO ADD INSULT 5O INJURY, they informed her that the tread on her front tyre was a bit low.! She sharply informed them that it was booked in and that she would take it in if she dared to leave the house unattended. !!!!
  6. Doesn't seem that there is much confidence in anything or anyone. Starmer has said that there is going to be a standing force of FULLY TRAINED OFFICERS that will be available immediately to go to any trouble spot in the uk. I would like to know where this force will appear from. This sort of nonsense harks back to the end of WW2 when Adolf was sending fictitious armies to fight the Russian armies that were advancing. Starmer looked like a weak pathetic sheep on the TV today. Edit. The government must be hoping for a long cold wet spell and not a really HOT HOT summer.
  7. I've tried all sorts of things. I really don't think that plastics matter I have had problems when I've mixed real and plastics. also I've seen some right tatty decoys with lots of paint missing draw birds better than real birds. Like Archie Coates said in his pigeon shooting video .." you have to be in a place where the birds want to feed". and that's where recce comes in. Half an hour watching. if they ain't coming in to feed at that spot why would they if you set up a hide there. Your ideal spot might be twenty paces away and you setting up throws them off. 45 the other day was good. don't get dispondant. I used to think that a good day came along 1 day in three.
  8. Looking at this picture, I notice that there is a lot of open space right through the hedge. I used to have a chunk of brown hessian that I sprayed black and green patches on to use as a back stop camp setting. If the birds are there AND they are landing in the hedge why aren't they coming straight in to land. ? it's something silly that's causing this. Edit, That is a small hedge. What about putting a couple of decoys on sticks on top of the hedge right over the hide area and putting a few decoys really close in to the hedge, as if they have just flopped off of the hedge a few yards out. I've had pigeons land only a few yards out front and I could have shot them with an air pistol they were so close. the only thing with this if it does happen is that they just seem to arrive without any warning at all. they land have a quick look and see the hide / you and emergency alarm take off. sometimes I've managed to connect but others I've been left thinking .. where did that come from and how did I mis that one.
  9. It's all there to try you. At least you managed to connect with an amount. when I was younger I reckoned on a good day I shot about 1.8 cartridges per bird, so if you said 2:1 and you shot 45 that would be 90 odd shots and if you had 2..3 birds over you for everyone shot that might make it somewhere between 150 ...to 200 birds over you during the time that you were out there. I've had loads of days where yesterday there were loads of birds on a field and I've set up and the sky was blank or they've powered on right over the pattern at high speed and high altitude and got somewhere better to be. I've packed up and gone home to mow the lawn, I've packed up and gone on reconnaissance with the binoculars to try and find where they are flying to. I've been to a field where they are pouring down on the other side of the field, only to move the hide to where they are and then to find that they are coming in on the bit that I had just moved from. I've set up on a new sewn field of beans where the sky had been full of birds yet when I set up there wasn't a single bird to be seen. at least you got a bit in. next time you might not get a shot.
  10. It could be down to the amount of guns going through holts auctions and being exported to America. People just off loading to get rid. Look at the amount of guns being put up for sale here under the reason of making room in the cabinet because they are not being used.
  11. Herein lies the demise of shooting sports in this country. The firearms departments are making up new policies every day. I'm sure that there are an amount of people on here,,, me being one of them who would love to have these barrels to play with and see whether they fit my gun and how they would perform. But with all the paperwork and hassle involved it's just too much faff. Now basic are supposed to be standing up for shooting sports ,,, but do absolutely nothing to challenge departments who just make up rules and stories. Hopeless. You only have to look at the guns for sale section to see how many guns even get a comment let alone an offer or a sale.
  12. That's a bit shallow. They used to say stuff like that about Japanese motor bikes, Italian equipment and all sorts. Its that sort of attitude that wrecked all of our industry. The Chinese march on to churn everything out that we po po'd as a load of junk. Most of our superior shotguns are made in Italy and Spain and just finished off here. Any company could turn out anything given leadership and quality control. At a fraction of the inflated cost .

    What is it?

Some ringpulls are tight and hard, so we use either a spoon or fork to get underthe ring and then change it around to use it as a lever bar to assist breaking the seal and then levering the lid off. I can see how the person using that tool could get covered with contents of thecan.
  14. You'd think that with the might of the Chinese manufacturing industries that they would reverse engineer anything and churn them out by the million. I'll have a look on Tumu and Alibaba Nahh. Nothing on there. They could turnout a copy of anything for afew quid.

    What is it?

I remember that Albert Steptoe used his false teeth to crimp an apple pie and his son HAROLD said " you dirty old man" with total disgust. Ps I did think that it was some sort of leatherworking tool. I think that there is one out in the leatherwork tools box.
  16. It's so sad. Just imagine everything that is your life stuff just ashes. Family photos, documents in fact all of it. Some years ago I used to communicate with a bloke who lived on the goldcrest. One time his community had a fire and he was lucky and the fire went past his house. He said that the problem was the result of houses being built in woodland and that undergrowth wasn't cleared away. So when there was a fire it was tinder to power the fire along.
  17. From what I saw I don't see any justification for the Stuart pierce free kick to the face and stamp on the head to a bloke on the ground. Non at all. It was a loss of control. This event will end up in court and substantial compensation claimed and issued. To those that think it that's its OK for the police to act in this manner should consider their view if this was done to them and perhaps the catastrophic results to your life and the wellbeing of your wife/kids/mortgage and job.
  18. "Oh dawg, you didnt;,,, right on the flaag".!!! Disgusting animal.
  19. We quite often see foxes on the cctv system. Mostly they are just passing through but I have seen them feeding on worms out on the front lawn after rain. It is something to see the athletic performance when they go over the garden fence in one movement as if it wasn't there. The foxes sèn to be in residence for a few weeks and then move on and a new fox takes over residence. Seeing as we live on a small housing estate there is absolutely no possibility of shooting out of the window. It's a total. Non starter. Firstly wouldn't know when it would be out there and you would have to be at the open window rifle at the ready. I don't think that pedestrians or vehicles parsing by would appreciate it and I don't think that plod would accept such. Behaviour and they would just revoke my tickets.
  20. I saw a very clever bloke on sky news explaining what happened and how systems should have alternatives like pen and paper options. He said that it was nothing. new and it was known in the trade as ( Strive and Survive) And that companies should have backup systems for when things fail as they will and do. At the moment the wife and I are away for a few days and apparently the hotels reception computer is down and it is all down to pen and paper. At the hotel there are quite a lot of trades and I notice that they all appear to be paying with wads of CASH. That to me indicates that there are a lot of cash fiddles going on.
  21. I don't know what you lot were watching but on the bbc news that I watched the rioting was by people of white roma origin. The blacks and Asians were calling them scum and saying we BRITISH (from ,, "it ain't arf ot mum") don't want your type here upsetting comunity relations.,!! AND GIVING THE AREA A BAD NAME.!! Oh the behaviour of the white trash is appaling.
  22. It doesn't matter how clever anyone is or how rich they are when things go wrong, your number is up. Some years ago The father in law of a bloke that I worked with had a stroke driving his car. He was driving in second gear, foot to the floor to valve bounce and the cam followers jumped off the cam stopping the engine and the car. He had been driving in the wrong carriageway making vehicles swerve to avoid him. When plod eventually got there they thought that he was drunk because he was slumped in his seat and hanging out of the door. They idiots arrested him for being drunk in charge. Then the ambulance men told them that he wasn't drunk but that he had, had a stroke. He wasn't able to drive again and only lasted a year or so before he keeled over
  23. The mountain side of the road is a vertical cliff of rock the ravine side of the road is segmented BIG concrete blocks solid enough to withstand a car or a coach impact. If you went between the blocks you would fall a LONG, LONG WAY. IF he's there he will only be found by the dogs or the flies. I don't see it because of the extreme terrain. The flies have it, the flies have it. The searchers weren't exactly trying very hard and we're just wandering about but the terrain is the killer.
  24. I wasn't taking about anyone, I just mentioned that a break period might make a difference. perhaps some fencing could make a difference.
  25. Maybe the cat needs to go on holiday for a while to see if there is any difference. We had a strike on a sparrow out on the front lawn a few years ago. not a good day for the sparrow and only the other day I saw a strike on a bird on the pavement in a town.
