  1. That is very generous of you. I would love to read it and pass it on to a youngster. I'll pm details.

    First cut

We Were only commenting the other day at the family Easter get together about how years ago no one had a lot of anything and how the wife's father used to cut the lawns by hand with a swap. The son in laws all said what is a swap.? I blame myself for allowing my daughters to marry them.

The grass Shute will just get clogged because the grass is so wet and long. It's better to tie open the back flap and rake it up. Then into the bin. I've never seen a year like it.

The power strimmer has another job to do. We went for a walk with one of the daughters today and ended up at hers. The grass on the lawn was so long and wet that it is beyond mower control. It needs something akin to an Allen scythe. I volunteered to bring the 2T strimmer up and get it under control for them. There is a potential problem in that Mabel her cocker had a very very urgent semi liquid midnight unloading session out there in the middle of a torrential rainstorm So it sort of melted into the grass. I. Have asked her to find the item and mark it with a stick so that strimmer and item don't encounter and I encounter the item. It could be like something hitting the fan. Perhaps the item has been washed into the soil.
  5. Where are you (roughly). What batteries does this take.?
  6. What is this powder suitable for.?

I have cut the lawns 3 times now. The back lawn which gets the sun, if there is any was getting so long and it was not drying out....SO... I got the power strimmer with a long line and reduced the length and raked the grass with a spring tine rake. This went into the garden bin. I managed to use the rotary on a high cut on the front lawn. The rain has given over the last week and yesterday it was HOT so everything has gone mad in the garden. Roll on global warming!
  8. Lovely dogs ... But (roughly ) where are you in the country. a county would do.
  9. Someone has been arrested and charged with the above. BBC News - Broughton: Man arrested after dead animals dumped in front of shop https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-68690702
  10. It's all a bit academic now because the gun sale has been retracted but it aroused my interest because I have a 325, so, I went and got it out and low & behold my gun which is a 325 G5 has Utah stamped on the barrel. I took about 20 pictures of the barrel to try to capture the image but it is difficult to get the focus & light correct to be able to see . I don't know if the stamping will show but it reads Browning Arms Company Morgan Utah & Montreal.PQ Edit.. if you use 2 fingers you can spread, stretch the picture to zoom up 5he inscription.
  11. All of this could be a bit academic if there is no ammunition or components available. Have to go back to flint lock muzzle loaders firing lead sheet cut into squares or broken glass or eads and homemade black powder or bow and arrow.... or blow pipe. No need for a silencer. Although recently there was a note that silencers were no longer on ticket.
  12. Shooting has certainly seen the going down of the sun. Every Holts sale is overloaded with guns. Some still command reasonable to good prices but there are hundreds in the bargain bucket. Last year I was in a shop and there were a couple of blokes in there. One asked if the shop would buy in his uncles guns because he was having to give up. The shop reply was a definite NO. they didn't even ask what he had got. The shop guy pointed to fair rack of guns that appeared like brand new. the shop bloke said that customers would buy new guns but wouldn't even consider a S/H one. When I was a kid people started off with a ratty 410 working up to better or new guns. These were used as a working tool. Later guns have been more of a status symbol. An accessory. Two of my son in laws have bought S/H rifles that have been AS NEW condition. One being a 223 BRNO that had Genuinely only ever shot 4 rounds at a paper target. With it was the original box and the protective paper sleeve. It couldn't have been more new as if it had just come across the counter. The police and feo's don't even answer the phone, answer phone or email. They don't exist. There are people who would love to take up shooting but its difficult. As Mr Frazier of Dad's Army fame would say... We're doomed. As for resistance the orgs like basic do little or nothing to stop this. Edit.. a glance at the guns for sale section is a good example. A lot of views but minimal sold. Sellers asking miles to high prices in comparison to auction and even shop prices. Recently a friend bought two quite reasonable clean sbs and a Franchi hunter 3 shot auto for £25 OK nothing special but were usable especially for walk up the hedgerows with the dog.
  13. Where is there any condescension in my post. The overriding point that I was making was that it is a case of bolting the stable door after the deed had been done. Putin can blame the man in the moon but it was all to late. Whoever attacked the venue, they just walked in. There was no security at all. Americans warned putin about this but putin just like Stalin did, he rejected the warning as propaganda saying that America was stiring the pot.
  14. What is this emoji. It is so small that I can't make out what it is.
  15. You are all behind the curve on this one. It doesn't matter who did the job or who gets blamed or whether putin don't like it. The point is that a group has done it without putins men doing anything about it. They just walked in and did the deed. Now I hear that the Muricans were warning about this last week so how did the system overlook this one. Does it mean that other PEOPLE / GROUPS can just wander into anywhere... train stations. Public areas such as markets, train stations or factories or military establishments and do a lot of damage. Can't cover everywhere. Look what happened in the troubles. Watch this space. Putins men are already stretched?, using prisoners and men from other sources.
  16. What just the one. I have a mass clear out of the spam box every couple of days. Hundreds of the blighters. Lucky spins, I've been selected for ..xyz, They need my details to deliver a parcel. You name it I've had it.
  17. This shows how. Much treatment has advanced over the modern era though. At least it looks like they've found it early and can get straight on it. Unfortunately this is not necessarily the case with everyone at by the time that they get diagnosed it's too late. Best wishes to both King Charles and Kate.
  18. Are the ideas people the rejects from the apprentice..? Totally crazy ideas from people who have gotten into a position but aren't practical and haven't got a bloody clue. I notice that in the parish magazine there was a planning application to have an electrical charging point installed for a car.?? I asked a mate who is an electrician and he said that not only planning permission but you are supposed to have it installed by COMPETENT QUALIFIED INSTALLER due to the risk of a fire caused by the charging. I just thought that you'd chuck an extension lead out there. My neighbour has put in a car parking access into his garden and it has cost him in the region of 10K..! The council wanted thousands for the legal access across the grass verge and the planning and the accredited company to do the work just to his boundary. All of the drive had to be redone by a second company because the first job was so bad that the KCC highways inspector wouldn't pass the work...then the cost of muck away lorries and the standing materials. NOW ..for something completely different.... A friend knows a land rover salesman and asked him to bring a demo vehicle to our shoot so that he could look at it. We all looked at it. The salesman said it's ONLY ... £850 A MONTH. IT'S MORE A LIFE STYLE,,!. We noticed that on original land rovers the chequer plate on the top of the wings was substantial aluminium but on the new vehicle there was a flimsy bit of plastic cover and the wings were about as thick as a tin can. The inside was more like a high end car rather than a vehicle that would be at home up on a mud track or farm yard with a couple of wet muddy dogs vying for a seat. Don't forget it's a lifestyle. AND IT COULD BE YOURS for ONLY £850 a MONTH..! Life is getting crazy.
  19. Oh No. It was me not getting on with the job. it was a case of "do I want it.? Do I not want it.? my fault. I hope the new owner gets good use from it.
  20. This is a good case of he who dithers about does not win. I asked a question but did not act of it in time. I would have had it but came back to find it had gone. shame I would have had it but another fish somewhere.
  21. If it was the case it could have been due to the competitive atmosphere of the way he grew up to fight for his place in club and for country. And eventually to take the Republic of Ireland to a football world Cup. Bad form though to go against the wishes of a host. Should have been invited to remove himself from the field. Never mind the money.
  22. Archie coats was a cantankerous old fellow. He sort of had a contempt for Jack, and it seemed to me as if Archie would not have had this low fellow out in the hide were it not for the fact that the film company were greasing Archie with cash for his services. I felt a bit sorry for Pru, Archie's wife. I bet that he was a bit of a handful.
  23. 😁😃🤣😵‍💫 Ha Ha Ha. YES. Bare knuckle stuff it was. Jack was out there cheering them on. Still at least there was one person that was alert and read the text.
  24. What actual size is an XXl.? Whats the measurement across the back pit to pit.?
  25. Well it was and it wasn't. I was a kid and Jack used to go out actually shooting stuff. Pigeon decoying with people like Archie Coats and ollie Kite. Ferreting., duck fighting and other good stuff... then it all changed and it was less good. Stuff like basket weaving, stuff to do with horses and carts. I remember that one program was about fireman's braces to hold his trousers up. Country fairs and other such Toot. Total waste of air time. A bit like the shooting times or basic. Originally good stuff but degenerated into nostalgic tripe. I could have added a lot of other words but what would be the point. We're doomed. The only redeming thing is that things like FEOs and basic are cutting their own throats because at some stage systems collapse like smoking or pints in the local pub. And that's the way it is. Edit.. at one time there was big brother that would know everything about us in 1984.. was it and then when we went in to the year 2000 all of the world was going to collapse because there was a 0 missing from computers. But since then we ....the country ...the World has sort of tripped up. A friend who is a welder said that they cant get anyone to work there. No one has any sort of practical ability and no interest in turning out to work. Perhaps the country will have to pay the illegal immigrants wages and bonuses to stay here and get a job.
