  1. I had an early 2011 520d which popped the engine at 102k miles. Rough sounding for about 100 miles when I was on hols and then the big bang and nothing. Good luck.
  2. Excellent perspective. I wouldn't want to be in her position for ANYTHING....
  3. I think the Royal Family are one of the major attractions for visitors to come to the UK and spend loads of money. Certainly anytime I'm in London, millions love to see if they can catch a glimpse. And the Americians positively idolise the Royal Family when they come here. Superb money making gig for UK plc..... So your comment above sounds a little sad.
  4. He'd travel anywhere although the Ards area would be stretching it a bit. Omagh/Tyrone area I believe. (He knows the Seskinore club that shoots on Mon nights - 20 ABT and 30 Spt - in the 50 shoot comp.) But he'd really like a full sporting layout. I believe there's one Dungannon way . But anymore would be great to know about as he'd shoot a couple if possible.
  5. Can anyone please recommend a clay ground in Northern Ireland that offers ESP practice? I've a friend who's going to N Ireland the last week in August and he wants some practice as he's shooting the British Open the next week. (No trap disciplines please nor skeet, needs to be ESP and he does have PSNI permission to bring his gun!) I did say to him that it was a daft week to take a week off if the Open is so important to him but it's the only one he can do, and he'll have wheels with him so can travel to almost anywhere in the Province. Thanks.
  6. Guys, in relation to the LED inside cabinet light, I have no idea of the quality of these but please bear something in mind. I've had a few of these and they're great. However, one of them had a wonky magnetic plate that detached while the light was attached to the inside top of the cabinet and it fell on top of one of my guns. It was a synthetic stocked rifle so it didn't matter but it would have if it had hit one of my walnut stocks!!!
  7. Thanks. Kind of you to contribute. Do you know what size the dot is? 1/2 MOA?
  8. Never used a red dot type scope. Is the dot always activated or what does it look like if not? A black dot? PS I'm interested in the scope..
  9. Neighbour of mine served with him in the war/was on his ship and said he was a great guy.
  10. For what the CLA offers, I think it's actually reasonable to good value. The Midland is not far behind and people were happy last weekend to pay £30 for the Bicester air show/Flywheel Festival, what for me, seemed to be a small show. Judging by the huge queues every year to get into the CLA, it seems many people are more than happy to pay the entrance fee. I've paid £92 for my son and mysefl to go to the RIAT airshow in Fairford.
  11. And it also can depend on the speed of a clay. A slow (turning) clay needs a 'better' hit than a rapidly turning one. eg one pellet could cause a high rotational clay to fragment but a slower one may need more hits - due to the differences in centrifugal force on the turning clay.
  12. Wed is a Sportrap type layout - two of them I think, and on Thurs, you turn up, buy a card and visit the stands and shoot. Couldn't be easier.
  13. Thanks for this. The only reloading I do is light loads for my Martini Enfield and it is all too easy to get distracted, despite taking care. I'll still do the torch check but this seems a great safety addition. And I will soon be reloading light for my new Marlin....
  14. Can we see one please? You can fill your wallet or your gun cabinet. But, IMHO and experience, not both!!!!
  15. ....but there is a sizable section of the community who don't use FB and some actually dislike it. Depends on the business of course and your objectives, but I for one don't do business with FB only companies... But if it's only an add-on to your normal business, good luck and it prob makes sense.
  16. now that did make me laugh.....
  17. A few enquiries but still for sale.
  18. Understatement of the year
  19. Of course it depends on the ground and other geographic factors but I shoot over 2,000 rounds of 22LR moderated subs each year after rabbits and I don't remember the last time I had a ricochet. But I don't shoot on flat or stoney ground. (Just seen Dunkield's post and just wanted to add that my shooting isn't in Bucks!!!)
  20. I don't watch much TV either and certainly not something like this. But, while some people clearly abuse the system, I don't think (read something about this being only a few %) that a large % of the benefits money goes to 'abusers'. You'll always get some abuse to almost anything but just how significant is the abuse? Does anyone have any credible data to hand?
  21. Got this U4 but before I used it, I changed guns so no longer needed and never used. Useful to tighten up the pattern for practice or for longer shots. As new and in original plastic tube. £50 posted. Inv + is suitable for (some) Brownings (not 725) and I believe some Winchesters and Mirokus. (Inv + is different from 'Invector' standard.) Any questions, ping me a PM pse.
