Cranfield
Both Remington and Beretta make reliable semi autos and I have owned both. However, I intend to check out the Benelli if I buy another semi auto. I have used them in the US on Commercial Dove Shoots and they are a very nice gun to shoot, with a reputation for reliabily and quality of build. barrie0
Beretta again , 391 model I had a good look at a few others ie Escort , Franchi etc in the gunshop a few months ago when picked up they did not feel right picked up the 391 synthetic and the balance was superb . Only thing is I got a 30" barrel version and now wish I would have got the 28" as it gets a bit cramped in the hide with all that length . henry d
I have a Remy 11-87 and the only complaint is an "O"seal from local gun shop was £9 but apart from that a good solid gun.
Country_est
Dave, What do you want it for. If you do any wildfowling then I would sujest you go for the max 3.5" Steel jobbie. If you are a herculean body builder and are not wanting it for pigeon / clay work then there is the Biakal 3.5" semi auto. It was heavy & front heavy with it. The Escort is in 3.5" was a lot lighter and seemed quite a nice gun, if a bit short in the stock (for me). A but pad would have probably been Ok, (it was camo and I really want black synth). Tried the Beretta 391 Xtrema and found it a better handling gun alltogether. A lot of money more if on a tight budget but that is what I bought. :yp: Trev. Ps if its not for wildfowling then ignore most of the above and get what ever suits you
AJAX
Hi Dave, I'm in a similar situation to you and I've spent quite a while researching what will be the best auto to go for. I've used a Remy a few times in the past and it was nice to shoot and came well recommended. I'm drawn to the Beretta but Benelli I've been told are massive in America and a lot of people are claiming that the Super Black Eagle in particular is the best semi auto ever produced. I'm hoping to try both in the near future. regards Ajax
magman
remmi 1100 almost shots itself :yp:
pavman
Hi Dave going through a similar exorcise myself, the Faranchi Raptor looks nice and at only 6 3/4 lbs weight its light enough for a southern softy like me, but chamber is 3 inch, good review in this months sporting gun. :yp: pavman
M ROBSON
I would choose the Beretta Xtrema every time but the Benelli SBE is a similar gun with a good rep. Mark.
Frank
BERETTA I have the A 304 and it is the most reliable semi-auto i have personally ever come across :yp: . Of course, if you can afford it, the exreamer is very hard to beat Thats my next purchase .
wacker
I Have a Benelli which is a really nice gun, well made, no ports to keep clean & it cycles like a dream, The plus side as well is that being a lefty it comes as a true left hand oh, and it's Italian. I strongly recomend you take a look at one if you get the chance. They come in wood, synthetic & cammo dipped.
Zapp
I am on the verge of buying a semi auto, but torn between a remmy 1187 (£495)and a beretta A390 (£550). discuss! Pete
ernyha
No contest in my book Pete, AL390 would be my immediate choice.
lanber1088
I have a remy and Beretta both sound guns, not had any problems as yet
MC
Berretta all the time, I have an Extrema 3.5" synthetis stock and it is superb, will fire and cycle anything from 24G to 66G monsters Martin
gunner
i have both a remi 1187 which shoots very well but on the heavy side i have a beretta pintail camo which i use for all my pigeon shooting and sometimes i use a bennelli 121 which is the same system as the pintail for now beretta has a share in benelli also . last week i have tried the new benelli comfort and i tell you it is a dream very well balanced light and has very good recoil so i suggest you try to view and try it for i thing it is one of the best guns around at the moment plus it has no pistons for benelli's work on a blow back system and it is so easy to clean . i have used benellis for 22 yrs as my first gun when i was 18 was a benelli 121 which i still have and has fired thousands of shoots and have not changed anything except the recoil spring in the stock for a few quid once about 8 yrs ago. Zapp
Well, in the end I went for something entirely different! I ended up getting a Franchi 712 Raptor, and my first impressions of it are very good indeed. I have done a spot of casual pigeon shooting and will be taking it out on the clay range at the weekend.
