Glensman
Hi guys, Basically as the title I am getting both of my rifles screw-cut next week and I'm looking for the best mods I can get for around £60 each. I would like the one for my WMR to be stainless if possible. The second part of my questions is: Can I buy my mods online? If so... Where? Thanks in advance! Glensman
http://www.jacksonrifles.com/sak22lr.htm These may fit the bill. Yeah I found that site earlier, but it says Trade Only
mr smith
E-mail them and ask for a local supplier.
Colster
No you can't buy it online, if it's going on a firearm then it has to be entered on your FAC so face to face only.
bicykillgaz
best mod for a .22lr that i've found is the sako i've had several different types including parker hale and logun and my old man has had jsl, parker hale and a coupler of other dearer options and the sako is the quietest mate and only £30.00 so you would be able to to spend £90.00 on one for the WMR so should get a nice shiney one for that which blinds you when you switch the lamp on! casts_by_fly
Or just buy one SAK for £30 and use it on both rifles. It is aluminum, so no rusting issues. Plenty big enough for the WMR (I've used mine with the 17 hornet) and rated for it. That would be my first shot, and pocket the other £90. Thanks Rick

Go for the SAK and save the rest of the cash so you can treat the Wife/GF to a bunch of flowers or a box of chocs and gain a few "brownie points" for when you want to go out shooting and she doesn't want you to! tweedledee
i had a p h but now use sak on both lr and wmr. will be hard to find a rfd who will supply without adding them to your fac

As far as I was aware it has to be on your FAC, so Glensman do you have it stated on the FAC. If not you may have to send another variation and another 8 month wait

Now here is a problem-- I have a slot for a .22 mod on my FAC already, but my FAC is in Lisnasharragh sittin in a pile for the last 7 weeks!!! Colster
I'm confused, so you have a variation in for a mod on your FAC but you don't have the paperwork back yet, yes?
Dekers
I have 3 rimfires, a .22lr, a HMR and a WMR! My .22lr has a SAK, perfectly acceptable! My HMR has a Sirocco (bareley adequate) but tried the Hog, DM80, Cub, Whisper, Sako, Sak, Parker Hale and even a ASE CQB centerfire on it, and none worth the trouble or money, although to be fair the DM80 probably "just" edged it. My WMR had a SAKO, sold the gun and mod just before Christmas and bought another, and after all the trials I did before settled for a SAK, exactly the same as on the .22lr. So, my .22lr and WMR BOTH have a SAK! Does for me!! DO NOT be tempted to spend a fortune on a Mod for the WMR, you will be wasting your money!! If so I would imagine you could put the mod on your cover letter and transfer it to your FAC when your variation comes back. Colster: he has a variation in for a different rifle at the moment but he has a slot already on his FAC for a .22 mod (I think this is what he meant ). Glensman who is threading the barrel for you? Glensman
I'm confused, so you have a variation in for a mod on your FAC but you don't have the paperwork back yet, yes? I've had the rifles and slot for Mod for a couple of years but the rifles weren't threaded. I'm taking them to Fergal White (Athlone) to thread them for me on Monday so now I'm after the mod. I sent an application off for a .270 7 weeks ago and haven't got my licence OR COVER LETTER back yet. So it looks like I'm going to have bother getting the mod. Which after reading the advice here and having seen one in action on a 10/22 before, will be a SAK.

Ok this is how you do it....you, or anyone else, your mum, your granny your daughter can walk into any RFD and buy a SAK without ANY paperwork!!!! This is on the understanding it will NOT be fitted to a firearm, only a sub 12ft air rifle, so that is what you do! When you get home with it, after scratching your head for a minute, you decide you would like to fit it to your rimfire, so, you just write to your region and tell them you purchased an un proofed air rifle moderator (or indeed someone GAVE it to you, or you bought it off a guy at the pub) and have now decided you want to attach it to your FAC tool! Jobs a goodun!! PS Yes, it is legal!!!! Edited February 17, 2010 by Dekers
