Stretch
i have used both 65 and 70mm carts, both have done me fine is it the 3inch chamber or 3 1/2inch chambered escort?? the 3 1/2inch chambered 1s arent as keen on ejecting smaller/lighter carts, usually have to use bigger loads and longer carts try 70mm cartridges I was wrong previously when i said it was 3 1/2" chamber, it's a 3"
Dekers
If it is a couple of years old or more then they were terrible/dangerous, but it does clearly say on the box/instructions that you must use a long cart, I can't remember but I think it was 70. I had mine new in april. Just had a look through the manual and it does'nt anywhere that you must use long carts, what it does say is that "Your escort semi auto shotgun is chambered for 3", and is capable of firing 3" and 2 3/4" shot shells". Took it back to the shop today and they said it's not right, sending back to edgar bros for testing/repair. Craig
njc110381
You've just said it yourself. It's good for 2 3/4" (70mm) or 3" (76mm) shells. 65mm shells are made so they can be fired in old game guns with 2 1/2" chambers. 70mm cartridges should really help, even my Beretta Xtrema used to get the odd jam with 65s and that IMO is one of the best and most reliable autos out there. They are a pile of poo, but for what they cost they do the job if you know how to treat them. Can't believe the shop sold me an over priced escort and the wrong carts in one hit Looks like i'm gona be paying "eastsussexlad" a tenna when i get it back and try it with longer cart
Admiral Von Tirpitz
I had a Hatsun Escort - Had being the word..........great looks, nice gun when it worked but it didnt work too often and simply nothing seemed to solve it, had it cleaned and serviced even at gun shop, and it still jammed somethings........all that glitters is not gold I think the saying. Get rid of it and stick to a nice simple o/u shotgun, you will use less ammo that way too, I always find the luxury of a third shot means I aim less well on the first two rounds
bakerboy
Beretta urika, shot a few 1000 in mine never had a jam,i do keep it spotlessly clean though I go along with the 70mm theory, it works on my hatsan and my son hatsan. nobby63
Like all the others use 70mm carts but also make sure you keep it clean and when cleaning make sure the O ring is put back in the right place http://www.hatsan.com.tr/pdf/Escort_Semi_A...n_Manual_GB.pdf
MITCHF
I use 28g 8's, never jammed, 1000's to date. 67 -70mm Also use 32g 6's, same, never jam's. Check your O-ring and find some cart's it like's You'll always get feedback from the Hatsan Hater's, but you've got to remember they're a cheap gun, it's not right to compare them to Brownings and Berreta's. neil smith
I'm unsure but 3 1/2 ring a bell. It does make sense as i have some a box of 36g BB carts for if i ever see any foxes and they fire them fine. If a gun has a 3 1/2 inch chamber the manufacturer has built it for heavier loads so the gas ports will be smaller in diameter than a 3 inch chambered gun, loading & ejection ports will usually be larger also. Its not a fault, Hatsan figure you want it for heavy loads or else you would have bought the 3 inch model instead. One solution I have seen done is to drill out the gas ports to a larger diameter this then makes the gun reliable with lighter loads but will no longer be suitable for the 3 1/2 inch heavy shells. My Extrema has never failed with any cartridge from 65mm 21 gr to 89mm 66gr. At 3x the price, the Berettas have a self adjusting valve for the gas piston which would help make this possible. I believe the newest Hatsans also have this now.

I believe the newest Hatsans also have this now. They may well be 3x the price but they work, My extrema is now entering it's 6th year of abuse on the saltings and it has also spent a night under the sea yet it still does everything I ask of it. It has already lasted twice as long as the warranty of a hatstand and I am sure it will last for another 30 years just like the 301's, 302's and 303's that are still around. If there are any of todays hatstands around in thirty years then please feel free to come back and tell me I was wrong.

Nobody said you were wrong but you can't expect something that is a third of the price to be equal. I am still waiting for my rarely cleaned (apart from a boresnake) Beretta to mis feed too. The cheaper guns still have their place Now tell me, would you rather go to Tesco's in a 1970s Rolls Royce or a brand new Fiat Edited September 2, 2010 by sitsinhedges

The Hatstand apparently won't which makes it useless in my opinion.
