henry d
Where's the link between mainstream pornography and pedo's?! I'm willing to bet that every single man on this website has watched porn on the internet/tv/video/magazines etc but (hopefully) none are paedophiles! Hopefully doesn`t cut it IMHO. My town has 43K+ population and this board has 19K, and as there have been many people caught with "kiddie" pics on their `puters in my town and the demographic will be not too dissimilar, then I think it fair to say that there will be some people who are members of this board that are, to all intents and purposes, paedophiles as defined by the online dictionaries A bit like banning driving to stop drink drivers!? Not the same, you have the cart before the horse, educate people about the dangers of drinking and then you will prevent some drink driving, ban drinking and you will stop it. (Obviously flawed but then all limited arguments like this will be. Or legal handguns to stop murder with handguns Mark There are a plethora of medical texts about the relationship........ A total of 279 men were asked about their purchase of erotic magazines, rental of videos and attendance at erotic movies. There were 131 sex offenders and 50 community controls from Alberta and 97 sex offenders from......Of the 15% of sex offenders against children who used erotic materials in their offence, conventional adult female erotica was used, usually to stimulate the child''s curiosity. “Investigators searching for a motive in the brutal slayings of a Townsend mother and her two children will explore the role of ‘hard-core pornography’ in the [17 year old] suspect’s life. . . . Police sources say accused killer[’s] home…including his bedroom, ‘was full of hard-core pornographic magazines. They were all over the place’. . . . Several torn and crumpled porn magazine pages were found in a wastebasket at the murder scene. . . . The pornography in [defendant’s] home, coupled with his history of violent and sexual crimes has prompted investigators to explore whether [defendant] may have been ‘inspired’ by or may have copied acts depicted in videos or magazines.” ...and still the relationship is not understood, so the question is, do you support the porn industry and as such may also unwittingly fuel a sex offence ? or would you prefer to make the likelyhood much less ? Breastman
Sorry but the old get out clause of 'movies/computer games/loud music' made them do it does not wash with me. Its almost always used as a lazy answer to very complicated questions - just look at the Cumbria investigation going on right now. I can understand why BASC seemingly agreed with Vaz trying to blame video games for violence with guns but personally i in no way support it. Neither does the "Well if it saves one life . . ." arguement work for me. If that was the case everything that could possibly hurt anyone would have to be banned, including people! Also, most, if not all of those papers/books purporting to link porn with sexual deviants (that i've seen anyway) are written by Americans, and usually right-wing Americans who have an underlying agenda because of the strength of religion in their society. They almost always fail to realise that the many homes with men in, especially sad lonely individuals as most of these freaks are, have some form of pornography in them. And as soon as one copy of Hustler is found the media report it as awash with 'disgusting' porn! And just look at the state of countries where there is heavy censorship of pornography and their rape/sexual assault/pedo records <cough> Saudi <cough>. The more you try to repress the most basic of human urges the darker they become - Just read Dr Jeykll and Mr Hyde to see what this country was like at the height of our sexual repression! chrispti
OK so here's a question. Your 16 year old son ***** his 15 year old girlfriend at one minute to midnight the day before her 16th birthday. By the time he's finished (hey...he's got staying power for a 16 year old) it's past midnight and she is now 16. Don't mean to disrespect this thread in any way, but, well, what is he exactly...discuss.... If a complaint is made, but the girlfriend gave her consent to sex ie; wasn't raped, the Son could be made to sign the sex offenders register. UKPoacher
Plenty about Pedo Pete Townend from the Who will spend 5 years on the U.K. register of sex offenders Couple of Labours MP's Catholic Priests Bring back burning ! All this signing the sex offenders register and killing or maiming offenders is all right, but who's going to lead the scout movement then? Actually I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been locked yet. They don't usually get past two pages before the mods have to step in.
artschool
surely you would need a licence for the stone?? yes and good reason for your choice of stone weight. 2.2kg has a loopy trajectory but is harder hitting versus your 1.77kg stone which you can throw harder some departments will not condition your stoning licence for pedos on either weight so you have to go for a 2.23 kg stone but usually you need mentoring with a stone this heavy :yp: Edited December 1, 2010 by artschool
Beardo
Strangely on the whole it's been a level headed conversation for once - with one or two minor outbursts. Don't think we're not watching it like a hawk though

Don't think we're not watching it like a hawk though I was just thinking the same thing. An interesting read. Folks, just imagine the knotty, delicate subjects we could talk about on here if only the same restraint and maturity could be shown whenever immigration/policing/terrorism/religion was mentioned. This thread shows it can be done

henry d
Sorry but the old get out clause of 'movies/computer games/loud music' made them do it does not wash with me............... May I ask what your profession is ? Neither does the "Well if it saves one life . . ." arguement work for me. If that was the case everything that could possibly hurt anyone would have to be banned, including people! So is it just let it happen and hang `em when they`ve been caught ? And just look at the state of countries where there is heavy censorship of pornography and their rape/sexual assault/pedo records <cough> Saudi <cough>. The more you try to repress the most basic of human urges the darker they become - Just read Dr Jeykll and Mr Hyde to see what this country was like at the height of our sexual repression! No correlation really, what about Fritzl and Prikopil(sp?) from Austria where consensual sexual age is 14 and porn can be sold to 16 yr olds. If all paedos turned blue tomorrow I would imagine that many would be totally gobsmacked at the number as with many crimes, the numbers caught are just the tip of the iceberg. Breastman
I work for local government but i'm not directly involved with social services or anything like that. Yep, thats how free democratic societies work. Conform/behave or be punished. Its only the severity/type of punuishment that seems to vary from one western country to another. 2 extreme examples in 'open' societies. There are websites (which i have been unfortunate to see) which show sexual abuse problems of epidemic proportions in middle eastern countries. I am more than aware from family members and friends who are involved with law enforcement that the numbers of ALL crimes that are shown being prosecuted in the media are a small percentage of what is actually happening :( Mark
dazza
I don't see how you can't pity them. It's a terrible position to be in. I do agree 100% with you when you say that they need to be locked up for life. You can't brainwash out one of the strongest natural urges man has so there will obviously always be a risk. And I don't see how you can pity child rapist's. I'd say the only one in the terrible postion is the child. The only postion a nonce needs to be in is an uncomfortable one at the end of a rope. If I ever ever sink so low as to pity a pedophile it will be one sorry day.

Daz2381
I don't believe in paying more taxes to keep the low lifes in jail for life, I think something cheaper and more terrifing for them, we should take the average yearly bill for the said in-mate and pay this to a foriegn goverment who houses nasty people like pirates, malitia and give them said people so they can receive the same treatment as they have dished out to the innocent, This isn't just for peado's but rapist, serial killers and the like. death from below
Sadly, Sara's law has many great ideas and recommendations - the sad bit being it would take a PM or Home secretary with guts to implement them - human rights lawyers like the wife of our former PM would drag the Govn straight to court
