Just got back from the All Round Weekend at Doveridge and am knackered!

Managed 2nd in A Class yesterday at the English Open with an 86 (ABT 23, DTL 22, ESK 22, ESP 19, pipped to 1st place by 1 clay  The shoot was won overall by Richard King, who shot an awesome 99! :o

Went back today at the British Open and faired much better, managing a 93 (ESP 25, DTL 24, ABT 20 :ermm:, ESK 24). That was enough to win me A Class by 5 clays and also put me in joint 3rd overall. Finished off with a 5-way shootoff between myself, Ian Mullarkey, Jack Rowley, Kevin Mayor and Richard King for 3rd place. I lost out, shooting a 23 on the DTL, 1 behind Ian Mullarkey but didn't disgrace myself so can't complain. (Just regretting missing the first bird out - which I'm not too ashamed to admit was due to nerves! )

Good weekend

Well shot student :good::good: , congrats on the class win and that was one hell of a shoot-off line up so no disgrace to be pipped there.

Went to a virgin ground, well virgin to me anyway, Orston in Nottinghamshire. What a ground, everything about it was first class from the clubhouse, the grounds which were as tidy and trim as a Stately Home, to the targets which were good but tough hardly a gimme on the course. If anyone is considering going there don't hesitate, in my view it was a match for Hodnet totally different, a flat ground, but at least as good on all criteria.

That's nice to know as that's going to be my local ground when I move to Nottingham on Wednesday :good:

Just got back from Cockett Farm (3rd visit) and my scores are getting better. on the sporting layout I shot 12 out of 50 the first time, 18 last week and 19 today. Last week was my first try at skeet with a 10 and 16 today so at least the scores are goung in the right direction. (did get a bit of beginners grace on the skeet with the pairs been sent on report)

more importantly tho, I'm enjoying it.

Me and Timps went to the rear entry shoot at Catton Hall today, which was also a Cheshire Team Selection shoot. :good:

I shot better than I have for months :P

Finished on an El Magnifico 87. I thought this'll be the day I hammer Mr Potter into depths of obscurity, so I went looking for him.

96!!!!! :o Ninety ******* six!!!! :o :o :o

Well shot you old ****. If that doesn't get you into the Cheshire Team, it's a fix. :sly:

Scores on the Doors :

Mr ******* Potter - 96 Fantastic shooting. :good:

Chard - 87 El Magnifico :P

Ron Taylor/Zippo/Tron/JKO/Berettaman - 82. Well shot you ******* old stiff :P

Timps - 75 Bad start, good finish

John Rogers - 75 Steady (he gets 75 every time he shoots Catton)

Ian E - 70 :good:

Yellow Bear - 65 :good:

Great day out. Weather and craic were top :good:

Well shot Paulos that burger must have been worth the waiting for

Mr P you will go to bed dreaming about that 96 :good: or Chard will  Great shooting.

I had to settle for a 92 at Normanton, but there was a clay there that was 100 yards away and I saw 9 people in front of us and nobody hit one.

So when I said to our squad the lowest score buys the bacon sarnies guess wot I hit 7 x 8 which was great but get back to the clubhouse and they've ran out of bacon, I dont know who was the lucky sod :hmm: :hmm:

Well shot Keef. I've got your cartridges now, so I'll bring them along if it looks like we're at the same shoot.

You doing the N v S?

I might do Kegworth next weekend, dunno yet :hmm:

Fantastic shooting by the Cheshire massive :good: Did Mr P get the high gun win with that phenomenal score?

Chard, i'm planning Kegworth and Kibworth on Sunday if you fancy a change?

Cheers Nick, we're not sure if Mr P pulled it off. I'd have been pulling it off if I'd shot 96

I was thinking about Kegworth. It's a two day thing isn't it?

Edit. According to Claybuster above, he did get High Gun  Must have been the expert El Magnifico tips I gave him :sly:

Thanks to all for the congratulations :good: , shows just what a fantastic sport this is, or rather what fantastic people who participate in it. Everyone at the ground as well as on here have been nearly as pleased as I am, my mate Alan who rang me to tell me I'd won high gun (Brett Winstanley had turned up just before I left and I assumed he'd beat my score) was made up for me. My trouble now is trying to wipe this gormless grin off my face :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Bad news though for those hapless Southerners, thats both Chard and myself coming into a bit of form just in time for the N v S bash, we may be a tad short on numbers but it's a cert really.

So thanks again for your kind words I've just got to keep it up now.

Best Regards

Andy
