HEAD SHOT NO1

Is it me or are people trying to insult most of our inteligence when it comes to prices?

If I go buy a BSA lightning (for example)£250 what a £20 3-9x40 of ebay on it,that makes that I payed £270.So I go shoot it for 2 years and then try and sell it for £350??

All I can say is new people to the Air gun,be aware and look around to see the price of new before you consider used because to me people are taking the pee.

Dont get me wrong theres still people who live in the real world and selling for reasonable prices.

Heres one I seen some where, not sure if it was on here or not, falcon fn19 rifle alone £400 these were under £300 new.

Are we allowed to ruin there post if there really trying to take advantage or should I head down my gun shop work the best deals out and put the on here with £50 on top? I think they would actually be cheaper the most the used ones on here!!!

There are plenty of "Old" cars about that only cost a few hundred £ new, that will now set you back over £1,000,000 today....and it's a long time since any Falcon FN 19 was under £300. :hmm:

If anyone is daft enough to spend money in this day and age without doing a bit of research (which has never been easier with the internet) then they are a mug and deserve all they get! :good:

I've occasionally PM'd people, in a friendly way, if I think their price is way off.

Just because they advertise them at a certain price doesn't mean someone will buy them - Your 1 million pound Ratcatcher sounds ideal, by the way, as I have elephants eating my chicken food. Is it still available? PM on the way.

Sorry guys, the Ratcatcher has been sold.

Some Nigerian who had a lot of money stuck in a Bank overseas and trusted me as his good friend and was willing to share the money with me if I sent a release fee of 1m. So I sent the Ratcatcher instead.

I'm still waiting for the millions to be released to my account... :hmm:

On a more serious note, I can't see why comments aren't allowed. If its a pee take, we should be able to say. If its a fair price and someone says its not, we would all back the seller up by say that it IS a fair price.

Like I say, no different if we were all round a 2nd hand car talking about the price, its merits etc. Thats not to say the sellers ad should turn into some great discussion, just some comments here and there should be allowed. If it gets out of hand then THATS when the Mod steps in....

And yes, if you are fool enough to pay over market price, then buyer beware, but there are guys who don't have a clue and could be caught out. I make a point of not going on BBS because its full of nasty little con men, backed up by the mods who are there to fleece the unsuspecting.....

But would it be ok to stop outside a second hand car dealers yard, write a negative comment about the price of a car, then stick it to the window?

You do have a point about putting people off the forum with sellers' stupid prices but there are enough honest sellers out there to balance it out, I hope.

Hi guys. I'm fairly new to air guns, and got a bit over excited a while back and bought a gun from this site. well needless to say, it turned out I was done. Still, not moaning, yes I should have done more research, and found out what's what first. BUT, had someone given me a gentle nudge that I was being a plonker, it would have saved me a lot of trouble and been really appreciated. As a buyer, (still  ), I think PM's to purchaser's would be a good thing.

I think there's always a reasonable price range in which a given item can be sold. ie from 'ooh thats cheap' to 'crikey I'm not paying that'. Above that range is a p-take, but people do get caught out. Selling second hand rifles for more than they cost new is below the belt IMO. Forums are for discussion, and discussing reasonable pricing seems perfectly acceptable.

Don't read this if you are of a nervous or delicate disposition, or think the world owes you!

Perhaps I am getting old but as far as I'm concerned we live in a pathetic nanny state with very few willing to take responsibility for their own actions/mistakes.

I didn't know, nobody told me/why didn't someone tell me, it isn't my fault, how was I meant to know...

...... grow some balls, make a decision and live with it,...... climb a tree, play conkers, ice skate on the pond, every now and again you may actually have fun and survive, and so what if you spent over the odds on something, you learned the lesson yourself and will remember the next time...without someone having to tell you!!

Rant over!

ATB!!

Doesn't mean we can't call someone out when they try to take the pee with a price though?

no way, we should all just leave alone, as soon as you start sending messages to people itll cause trouble. there will be complaints and itll interfere with actualy trying to buy or sell anything. I successfully baught a bsa lightning xl tactical with a 3-9x56 ir scope for £50 quid, the guy had 80 people pm him in the first 15 mins of the sale, i got it cause im in the same area and i was polite and popped with the cash, he was having people bugging him at work and then complaining when he didnt sell it to them. We should just leave it as this is what i have for sale i want x amount ono take it or leave it, nice and simple.

There's lots of posters breaking forum rules as far as commercial enterprises go. Members advertising knives and bouncers they sell and of course our very own tame Pel Pax rep' on here pushing his products at every oppertunity. And we've had examples of members buying guns from other members then quickly advertising them at a profit. As far as selling overpriced goods are concerned the age old 'caveat emptor' still holds true:- Let the buyer beware.
