Salop Matt
As above, I was always under the impression that the trade bought from Screwfix ! Is this the case ? The reason I ask is slowly I am building my collection of my own tools as Me and the mrs moved in together 3 years ago and I need to be able to stand on my own 2 feet and not be borrowing my dads stuff all the time. I am just looking at getting myself sorted with some crimp termals for wiring etc. I have cable strippers and the crimping pliers but now trying to get an assortment of crimp terminals together. So I went on to the screw fix online and started to add up what I would want :o :o :o :o The cost was atleast twice what I was expecting ! Surly the trade dont pay these prices ? So where do the trade shop ?
libs
I'm not sure about prices. But the Screwfix mag is essential bog reading. I could stare at a page of DeWalt li-ion drills for at least an hour.
gixer1
Is it automotive crimp terminals you are looking for? http://www.qvsdirect.com/Clarke-Electrical-Terminal-Set-pr-16187.html#utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=weekly-feed
jacksdad
They seem to have got expensive over the last few years, I now use Toolstation, good prices but smaller range. Why don't you look out for used power tools, hand tools etc. from boot sales and second hand emporiums ? I also have a screwfix book installed in the bog.....I need 2 DeWalt batteries, 14.4 an 18V, have you seen the prices
J@mes
Local electrical wholesalers will be cheaper in my experience.

Clubshot
It pays to check on internet these day's Sometime the Trade charge Labour and part's and worry more about Service But is worth checking prices on electrical goods Aware better than B & Q & Home Base BOB/R

artschool
screwfix and b&q are owned by the same company. toolstation is owned by travis perkins. neither are as cheap as they used to be.
Dorsey
Toolstation is miles better than screwfix, but there's often a bargain to be had on that bay site too. Screwfix used to get my business but they never seemed to have everything in stock so I jumped ship. Shop around tho and you'll be fine
HDAV
Screwfix aren't cheap anymore toolstation and online are cheaper do have some good offers they are B&Q afterall
fenix
If your after 12v stuff maplins do some reasonable priced party packs when they are on offer. They also frequently have iroda gas soldering irons half price which I find really handy for both soldering and heat shrinking.

whiskymac
I don't use them unless I have to......ie sat afternoon when everyone else is shut. I tend to use local suppliers as they do look after me but quite often ITS London, DM Tools and Toolstation work out cheap, especially for powertools. Usually quick delivery as well. paulf
The £50 minimum order with screwfix puts me off normally in the past I used them heavily, Powertools i can get cheaper from other Internet suppliers, I shop around. Toolstation is good but be wary of the hand tools as many of them are silverline and can be poorly made. Maplins would be best for 12v crimp terminals. maxtich
Screwfix used to be cheaper at one time B.T.W Toolstation OWNERS is a bit naughty as the owner of toolstation used to own Screwfix originaly but then sold off to Travis perkins who also own B&Q for loads of wonga and then opened toolstation no doubt to flog it and start all over again. bruno22rf
IMHO screwfix prices have risen and quality/customer service has fallen since the company was sold.My local branch employs a guy to simply walk around the store all day putting things straight on shelves-he looks brain dead and the store is tiny.Dont use them anymore-buy from fleabay. Chris Bb
Screwfix used to be cheaper at one time B.T.W Toolstation OWNERS is a bit naughty as the owner of toolstation used to own Screwfix but then sold off to Travis perkins who also own B&Q. If TP/B&Q are too stupid to include a "no compete" clause in the contract when buying Screwfix then good luck to the Toolstation man. I have to say that I used to go to Screwfix, pre takeover, but no more. Wickes may be owned by TP, in turn Focus is owned by Wickes, a bit bizarre as there is a Wickes virtually next door to a Focus locally! Just goes to show, in this country everybody owns everybody else, then they try to tell you they're offering us, the consumers, competitive pricing and fair trading. Yeah, right! DSPUK
Salop Sniper Check out Charlies in Shrewsbury - sometimes they have some good deals - there screws are good buys - also for electric stuff try shop next door to Screwfix or one further up road on left past island. - Also Builder centre in Wellington do the occasional half price deals on De-Walt tools - Do not buy Screwfix own battery drills - had three then binned them and bought batteries for my old Bosch and B&D drills. dave
