The Duncan
Hi folks, I know I can get a used hatstand for £200 ish, but is there another decent sa out there with a slightly longer stock? Do they come with pistol grip or-near-offer? She's asking what it costs to get something reasonably nice Am I a lucky man or what? BerettaSV10
It depends on your budget, I myself looked at some semi's and found the stocks way too short. In the end I bought a Benelli raffaello crio semi, a beautiful handling gun with a stock that matches many o/u shotguns. It cost me over £1100 for a second hand one that had only been fired twice. karlbird
My local gunshop do brand new Beretta ES100's for 620 quid if you can stretch your budget, a friend has one and they are nice guns. Unfortunately my budget didnt stretch to that so I bought a new Hatsan last night for 350, the new ones have a few refinements and it looks like it'll do, certainly for the 3 years of its warranty. The Burpster
I have owned and shot Semis for far too many years ( I just love em for pigeon/rabbit culling) you really do get what you pay for - If you are on a limited budget you will end up being much happier if you put you money onto a better quality 2nd hand gun than a new cheaper one. I still have scars from cleaning a Hatstand semi - OK in use but a ****** to clean and service.
activeviii
i know of a mint beretta al391 in wood with all the chokes, hardcase and bits it comes with. £550 the guy is looking for so you should get something in that price
The Duncan
I must confess, I do like the Beretta marque and I think the idea of getting a well looked-after, higher quality gun over a new but cheaper gun is appealing. Thanks for the replies guys Duncan

Thanks for the replies guys Duncan If you can find one or stretch to one I suggest this is the route to take! Please do not get a Hatsan, yes, for sure some work, but what is that all about with the spares they supply with a new gun, which you will need. And a 3 year guarantee is appalling today, most are 10! ATB!

The Duncan
Now I'm torn! Beretta or SX3? SX3 means waiting longer and increasing the budget by about 25%. Is the SX3 25% better than a Beretta? Duncan

BerettaSV10
Have you tried them out it could be that the fit of one of the guns could be wrong. If it is problem solved, if both Beretta and SX3 feel right when mounting its back to the which one to get problem.

Albertan_J
i can honestly say my sx3 is a quality bit if kit and cycles absolutely everything put through it. I think you do get what you pay for in semi autos I like to pull the trigger and have a bang instead of a click.

Is the SX3 25% better than a Beretta? Duncan No its not in my experience. If you're comparing like for like SX3 against AL391... Beretta wins every time, but to throw a spanner in there, You should consider a Benelli as an equal to the Beretta. I've owned Hatstand, Mossberg, remington, Browning, Winch, Berettas and now Benelli (a Urika 2 and an M2) (shot but not owned Franchi) the Browning/Winchester (pretty much same gun) is not as well finished and will not hold its value as well as Beretta/Benelli. In my experience FWIW.
Albertan_J
Depends if you buy a gun to sell or buy it to shoot lol
retromlc
I would take a serios look at a Franchi 712 raptor,it is a superb gun.made by Benelli and Beretta,I had one and it was faultless, they can be had for little money as they don't have a top brand name, but they are a top gun.
