The Duncan
Hi folks - following on from the pigeon / shot size and load poll, what are PW'ers recommending for Crows? I've heard a few different views now so want to find some sort of concensus
apache
If I'm after crow's I usually go with 32g number 5's. If shooting them in trees I sometimes use the .410 and all I have are number 6's, but they are sitting!
Beretta28g
I voted other, i like 8 shot for decoyed crows brilliant pattern, and what ever comes to hand other times
libs
I've voted #5. Normally use RC SIPE in 32gram flavour. I have found crows have the amazing ability to fly on quite well only to drop stone dead 2 seconds later, tough blighters.
the enigma
32g of #5 does the business.
alastair0903
32 gram 5's all the way , currently using just carts extreme game and they are doing the job
steve_b_wales
32 / 36 grm of #5 is best, but I have also have excellent results with 32 grm # 6.
bignoel
i use 6.32gr they seem to do the trick very nicely
Frenchieboy
I like to use "Gamebore Balck Gold" loaded with 20g of 5 shot for crows. They drop quite well with them (When I can hit them) and if a pigeon or two fly over or a rabbit comes out while I am walking out to where I want to shoot from they're not to heavy to drop them with! (Any rabbits I get with the shotgun get used for bait stations) I've tried 6 shot but not been quite so happy with them for crows - Those crows can be quite tough little varmints at times! dolphin
although i will probably get a few knockers i have never found the need to use anything other than a 7 get your hide and pattern right shoot within your limits and you shouldnt have many if any runners and yes i do shoot plenty of crows but like everything else its up to the individual and how confident they are atb dolphin

semiautolee
32 / 36 grm of #5 is best, but I have also have excellent results with 32 grm # 6. i will definately second that

The Essex Hunter
trap 7.5s with half choke always worked well for me. shot placement is everything. I only shoot the ones that drift over the pigeon decoys, however as above is correct, they are tough! Dead in the air is good! 32gm 6.5 Eley F/Wad TEH
mauser2002
Hi folks - following on from the pigeon / shot size and load poll, what are PW'ers recommending for Crows? I've heard a few different views now so want to find some sort of concensus Hi The Duncan, I will usually use up all the odd cartridges I have left over for shooting the crow. But would recommend for the serious shooter 32g 5's which is a good all round shot especially as crow's are hardy little blighters!
