Peppergun
Probably wouldn't do it if offered, certainly wouldn't pay. No different to culling game on African game reserves by helicopter, surely? Just a bit YeeeeHaaaa American. Not in my back yard, not in my country. Who cares. I have got bigger worries. Its not 100% humane but nor are many of things. It is fodder for Antis to some extent, but nothing credible. Perhaps the 95 million posts discussing morals might make people look harder at the original post.
chrispti
Conclusion came courtesy of seeing these little toe rags playing with big guns. plenty food for any 'anti' who cruises this site. Anybody here want to defend the actions of these jocks in the the name of hunting or sportsmanship? Sorry to disappoint but being sickened over rules jealousy. fudd I think you will find these shooters are hired (paid) to cull some of the 10000's of ferrol pigs that cause masses of damage to the land...... Anybody here want to defend the actions of these jocks in the the name of hunting or sportsmanship? Sorry to disappoint but being sickened over rules jealousy. fudd It is disapointing to read comments like this. These "toe rags" are paid pest controllers doing a job. And so far no one has defended them in the name of hunting or sportsmanship. Your complete post could be applied by the much feared anti's to any form of pest control. Like the "bunch of a-holes with money to burn and morals to match" who don't have land or crops but spend heaps on shot guns and ammo. then spend ages begging farmers for the opportunity to shoot pigeons on their land. I fear the shooters who condemn each other, more than I fear the anti's. At least with the anti's I know they will spout a whole bunch of bleeding heart emmotional stuff. When a fellow shooter condems vermin/pest control on a forum that revolves around exactly that, it is difficult to understand. One day with the help of people with an attitude like yours, someone will convince them to remove pest conditions from our certs if we don't have a direct need. This will keep the anti's happy, and the police will have a little change in the law to reduce the no. of firearms out there. We will be standing in line at the RFD to sell our firearms for pocket money. The other shooting diciplines will continue but they'll also get picked off one at a time. Fuddster
So why the jazzy sound track over the video? Was it inspired by movies about Vietnam by any chance? I propose a new 'shooting porn' section on PW for all fans of this tat. Whilst I accept it as a pest control method-does it really have to be presented so crassly? fudd

mudpatten
Oh yes! Try watching U.K. driven game shooting to a death metal soundtrack. Gives it a whole new moral(immoral?)dimension.
wayne78
They were not instant kills because he appeared to miss quite a bit. Every shot that hit the target seemed to do the job. I never saw any pigs move again after being hit Apart from the one which had 12 rounds put into it, vids like this are ammo for the anti's having said that hitting a moving target from a moving helicopter does take skill Edited July 18, 2011 by wayne78
Dave-G
I think a lot of the alleged misses were shoot throughs - viewed by the camera that was higher than the rifle scope.
chrispti
I doubt very much a pig would still run like that after beig hit 12 times by a 223 (5.56) I dont think any shots passed through either, but I guess we will never know for sure. al4x
Oh yes! Try watching U.K. driven game shooting to a death metal soundtrack. Gives it a whole new moral(immoral?)dimension. exactly the way its filmed isn't to most peoples taste. However it is America where they are allowed to enjoy this form of shooting, personally i'd pay to have a go Its not much different to shotgunning rabbits after harvest from a truck, or shooting off the combine both have variable kill ratios but are rather good fun

Cranfield
This is pest control, pure and simple. These are feral pigs which are a threat to agriculture. Due to the vast distances involved, this is the most efficient way of culling them. There was a video around some time ago of culling kangeroos in Australia, which was almost identical. al4x
Are all the pigs picked up? at a guess if they are on arable land then yes, even if its the only reason it will be to stop them going in the front of a combine or forage harvester. having heard a fox go through a combine I can only imagine what a decent sized pig would do

al4x
In some areas they use GPS and just press the button when they hit one, but in scrubland I'd imagine they just leave them

Cranfield
I suspect they leave them to decompose, or be eaten by scavengers. If the pigs are left there too long the meat would spoil, my friends in the US bleed out the pigs as soon as they are shot.
