mattslaptop247
Guys, I have a rough sxs, but the barrels are still good inside so I was going to camo it up to use as a hide gun. Whats the best option, or what have you done with yours? Edited July 26, 2011 by mattslaptop247
TaxiDriver
You can get a fabric barrel sleeve/sock in cammo pattern, (think the ones I've seen were under/around £10 from the 'Jack Pyke' Brand)
.philmypower.
I have a cheap 22lr for lamping which i cammoed using spray paint, looks really good, even had a few people ask me to do theirs for them but it does end up costing around £
Cranfield
Despite what it says on the packet, most camo tape shines in the sun, or when wet (even more than normal gun barrels). The camo "socks" I have tried are a nuisance, slipping off and getting caught up. If you really want to go this route, a matt paint finish of some sort is probably the "best" idea. mattslaptop247
Cheers guys. Ive been watching a few videos on youtube and they seem to say the same, that the socks move about and are slippery, and that the tape can still give off reflections. looks like a paint job might be the way forward. THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Self clinging tape every time. After trying many different non permanant methods I've settled with the tape. I don't use a hide net so rely on good camo & not moveing untill the last moment. Shiney barrels are a nightmare if I'm not in the shade & my stock is worse, It seems to glow in sunlight. What you think the Pigeon see's while waiting to shoot is totally different from the pigeons viewpoint. Gun camo isn't essential in general, just like everything else, you can get away with no gloves, face mask, wrong carts etc but just think about the "odd" bird that jinks even when you assume all is well, something is wrong & the more you eliminate the better it is. After wasting alot of money on many different methods I can honestly say self clinging tape is good for the money it costs.
Gadge-it
Ive tryed the scocks and been **** they slip, the tape end up going shiny through time.I would go for either a matt black gun or aone that has already got the camo onit.
caeser
I'm afraid that I wouldn't pick any of your suggestions. I used to have my barrels covered in a self adhesive cloth camo tape. I took it off after a couple of years , mainly because it was starting to fray. I was also curious as to what it would do, or had done to my barrels. It had not done a thing, glue stuff just wiped off easily, and it was perfectly ok. I keep meaning to cover the barrels again, I just haven't got round to it. See the top gun in the picture of my guns. Thats my pigeon gun. (Franchi Harrier if you're wondering.)

caeser
Self clinging is not adhesive & there is no glue residue. Yes I'm fully aware of that, but the point I'm making is, there was no problem with the adhesive cloth tape. I'm not too keen on the idea of the self clinging tape going over the top of the barrels, so that I see it all the time when I'm shooting. turbo33
This is what I did with my Auto, self adhesive camo wrap/vinyl,looks really good, not permanent like paint, easy to do/ remove when you want to change back. I have about 6 sheets left from an order. There is enough in each sheet to do a whole shotgun/ rifle. Possibly not a hushpower 20g/12g due to the drainpipe £20 per sheet posted. pm me if your interested. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/168836-auto-gets-camod/ This link will show you how easy it is to apply. Bluebarrels
As post 11 camo-clad :good: hardwearing, water resistent,no glare and easy to apply/remove  Used this on a rifle myself, had it on there 4 years, when removed, barrels were in top condition :good: BB
Gutty Boots
I use a cammo sock type on the hushpower, but that is a ROUGH gun in every sense of the word. As has been said they can slide around a bit so need held in place with a few strategic bits of tape. If you require a long term solution, I would think a paint job is in order.
