Doc Holliday
Here - http://travel.aol.co.uk/2011/09/20/the-big-freeze-britain-set-for-snow-as-early-as-october/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cuk%7Cdl4%7Csec1_lnk2%7C78672 I wish I knew how to put up a little "clicky" or "here" thing instead of having to paste the whole lot. Anyway, better get ready, looks like it could hit even earlier this year.

wildfowlingmad
"The 2011-12 winter may be one of worst overall for UK in last 100 Years with past two a mere curtain raiser" Ive looked at several long range forcasts for the coming winter and they all suggest that is will be worse than last year, and that was bad enough! You cant beat shooting in the snow (ignoring the frozen body parts!)

Kes
I'm out tomorrow then and chop down another tree for the woodburner only 3 tons in the shed. The 50% increase in heating oil price can be expected soon !
njc110381
I've always wanted to know how to do that! Yey! Ok, back to the OP, snow in October - that's pants but very similar to last year. It was early then too wasn't it and that was a right pain! DSPUK
Obviously a lot of posters on here were not born before 1962-3 - now we were talking bad winters and I can just remember 1947 - so bring it on I am prepared - Got full set of steel wheels with new snow tyres on. kdubya
if the weather forecasters are predicting an early cold spell then best see if you can get hold of a cheap Barbie as it will turn out to be "unseasonably hot" love this bit from them "and said that Scotland and the North should prepare for the worst of it" some budding sherlocks at work there eh! bunch of best guesser's and pessimists, not known to get it wrong are they? Conygree
If it's snowchians your after try 'Brindley chains' first, I have x3 pairs for different 4x4's, yep 4x4's great for going down icy hills and hard packed snow. Their site crashed under demand with the snow last year. No probs with more snow for me - just get extra firewood in and put the snowchains on the wifes jeep for her to get me more beer and meat Don't want to worry anybody but look at a world map both left and right for the same latitude it's artic tundra, East in Russia it's Menutsarefrozen and West it's The Yellow Snow National Park. The only thing keeping us warm is the Gulf stream and it's slowing down :o Edited September 21, 2011 by Conygree
