jimmyb79
Hi all, Quick question, I have recently moved and had the FEO round for a check on the cabinet in my new place a couple of days ago. He said he had to take my certificate (and my wife's too), and showed me the request as written by the admin guys at the firearms department. I asked him how long it would be before I received it back and he said that current turnaround was 6-8 weeks for address changes, so I asked him what I should do regarding purchasing cartridges, to which he replied that I would have to find someone else to buy them for me. I wasn't 100% on whether this was correct so didn't challenge it at the time, but now I have time to think about it am wondering whether he was supposed to leave me with my certificate pending the new one being sent out. Any thoughts?

Seamus
I moved house at the back end of October and this happened to me. FEO came out to the new house and didn't like how I'd fixed my cabinet in the new house (guns were stored with a neighbour) and so took my certificate off me until I sorted it out. I refitted it and gave him a call, he came out a couple of days later with my new certificate. He did say I could still go shooting, just couldn't buy cartridges. I notified them that I was moving house about 4 weeks before I actually moved so they had every thing ready for the week I moved in. This is Northants force. oscarsdad
When I moved house my FEO told me to write to them an advise them I had moved but that I was keeping my cert for ammunition purposes - when he inspected the new cabinet location he brought me my new cert and took the old one away. jimmyb79
Seems that it was the right way to go, albeit that 6-8 weeks is a bit of a pain in the proverbial when its only a matter of changing an address and pressing print! Cheers all JB

JR1960
That's bad, I take it you still deal with wymondham. Have you rung them, I've always found they try and sort things out there and then?

stevo_m
I moved a couple of months ago, within Norfolk. I called them the day after I moved, they adjusted the computer while I was on the phone to them. I answered a few questions about the location of the safe, 2 days later my new cert came through the post. Excellent service from the Norfolk lot! Never had that normally just a glance at the cert, I have bought some carts from places that don't have tills! You give him a wedge of notes and then go fetch them from the stock room! Beretta28g
Right Now been waiting 5 weeks for a FAC Variation, and on the phone i have been told it will probibily be another couple of weeks beacuse renewalls have to come first. So it looks like a 7 week variation.
ordnance
Do you not just post your FAC in and get your address changed on it. The FEO then checks your new address. The PSNI send you out a letter that they have received your FAC you can use the letter to get ammo. bighit1985
Im in North Kent and had my vist and inspection of my cabinet 4 weeks ago and was told that im look at not getting the license through till at least the new year, trying to get out and try some wildfowling with the Kent Wildfowlers, and they can't take me out till the license comes through, but was told drop them an email and see if it speeds it up but low and behold the license still going to take till the New Year, but they have taken the £50 for it already. I wonder firstly what my council tax/income taxes are going on and what do I pay £50 for?? to wait 3 months before I can even get my own gun and hopefully get some shooting in before the seasons over..
