i dont think i have seen this on here as a topic only single posts.

i only want to hear from people that have experience with these guns and not people who know people with relatives who have this gun.

Do the new hatsan escort semis have any serious common problems with them? as i dont want to go out and buy a new one for it to go wrong.

or does anyone have any reccomendations for semi's in the £300-£500 range?

Sorry if its already been posted.

lol, sooo many posts already. i bought a 2nd hand, 2nd gen one from a pw member. absolutely fine. will jam with 65mm carts when you have 2 in magazine. if only one in magazine, not a problem. some 21g loads will also jam, eley slow burners for example. 28g fiocchi 7.5 clay loads cycle fine. chokes fit in fine, dont stick out into barrel.

if you want a cheapy that you wont mind knocking, or just have a low budget like me, good choice.

im not a fan of eley now anyway. they didnt pattern well out of my o/u, big holes in the pattern. now i have lost faith in them. lyalvale pigeon express 67mm work fine, as do gamebore 70mm, which i am using at the moment. The eley pigeon carts i had left over will cycle, but they are a bit short to sycle 2 from the mag. if you put one in the mag, then a longer cart, with another eley in the chamber, it'll be fine. Its kjust that with the 'middle' cart being 65mm the 3rd tires to poke out aswell, and jams it up...

Good guns mate. I've had mine nearly a year now and it cycles cartridges flawlessly even though it the older type with the button on the side. Mine cycles everything from 24g-52g magnums, i've never tried any 65mm shells in mine but i know for a fact that the 67mm cart's cycles absolutely fine through mine. I only paid £200 for mine so i do not care what so ever it i scratch or dink the gun as it's my rough shooting gun and hopefully will be for many years to come, until i can afford a SX3 or a M2, but i dont think i'd still sell it though

A mate of mine which bought a Hatsan with 3.5" chambers (the first type out) and it was an absolutely fantastic gun. The gun would cycle from 21g-63g cartridges with ease never mind the cartridge size the gun would cycle the cartridges and spit them out. As of this friend, i bought a Hatsan and have never regretted the purchase

Ive had a new escort about a year fired about 1000 cartridges only had 3 jam and that was with 21gram 2 1/2 cartridges that i was given when i bought it. Keep to 2 3/4 cartridges at least 28 gram and give a good clean every time you use it. Excellent video on how to strip & clean on this forum by semiautolee.

Got 3 Hatsans, 2 semis and an O/U, semis are an old (side button) and a new Quick Load version, neither will cycle Hull Comp-X as the cases are very short and both come out of the mag together. They will however cycle everything else I've thrown in them.

The original side button version is now over 4yrs old, cost me £265 and has had over 6500 cartridges through it, only problem I had was when I jammed a bit of cleaning patch in the trigger mech, not knowing how to strip it I contacted Edgar Bros who collected it, sorted it and had it back in under a week free of charge. :)

If you want something to sell on in 2-3 years or more and get back almost same as what you paid for it then opt for a Beretta etc.

If you want something which does function correctly, but might have to be more careful with cartridge choice and you wont mind it getting scuffed, scratched etc then get a Hatsan.

Stick to 70mm (2 3/4") cartridges with minimum of 28gm and you'll be fine.Oh and keep the gas vents clean too.

Ive got the 2nd Gen in synthetic. Used just for Clays, Prob over 1000 through it with no issues.

Im putting through Eley First (67mm) most of the time now as I just bought a slab of them... Did put 65mm through at the start with no issues.

I give mine a quick clean after every hundred or so, only takes 10 mins. Also make sure that you check the chokes are nice and tight once youve cleaned it. Some people on here who couldnt be bothered ended up blowing their chokes out. If you want a rough and rugged gun for proper use, get one.... If you want a nice pretty one your tyo scared to get dirty or wet and want a good resale on, then something more expensive.

I've never bought one because I have one mate who's 3.5 Hatsan won't cycle below 32g (I've used the gun but it's not mine) and another friend of a friend who had one that kept blowing O rings when he used heavy cartridges in it.

Ask Dekers what he thinks of them.... :o

If buying one, get a 3" chamber not the 3 1/2" as the spring in the 3 1/2 is stronger, and will cause problems with 67mm cartridges. 'O' rings can be bought quite cheaply from most DIY shops.

Exactly the statement the OP asked not to have, some people can't help themselves but have a dig!

I've got the latest version, no problems with it. Chunky, solid and reliable. Can't beat it for value for money. If you sell it on in a couple of years you'll also lose less than many more expensive models % wise of purchase price.

No probs with mine either one of the few semis made in LH. Easy and quick to strip and clean and it cycles 21grm 65mm carts as long as it's cleaned and the o rings ok. My mates just bought a new one. They come with stainless extended chokes now. £415 at local shop or £369 a few miles away.
