Baldrick
Lifesystems 50% DEET is the way to go, available at good outdoor sports shops such as Field & Trek. Keep it away from plastic though, as it's corrosive stuff. Yes, it's safe to use on skin......
Frank
Cheers so far , any more sugestions?
Dunkield
Avon 'Skin so Soft' Frank if you can get it, you may have to buy it online if the lady doesn't come to your village ("ding dong Avon calling" if anyone is old enough to remember those ads...) I used in the middle East and never had any bother, and the Scots swear by it - and beleive me those boys know about midges! Failing that, try Jungle Formula. Lord Geordie
Avon sell something called Skin So Soft Beleive it or not it is BETTER by far than ANY other anti bug stuff you will come by and it wasn't even it's purpose. I use it when going fishing - camping etc and prevents me being eaten alive LG

Cranfield
Another vote for Avon Skin So Soft, although its not sold as a bug repellant, I have worn it in many different countries when fishing and it is faultless.
Baldrick
Interesting to hear that you all wear Avon make up instead of bug repellent. Worth a try though, instead of immersing myself in Agent Orange and other pleasant chemicals in the hope of keeping the midges at bay. Frank
Thanks all. Avon it is. I have been meaning to get to this problem for a while now. As every year its the same and i allways say i will do something about it. Cheers.

M ROBSON
Frank, If they are really bad I've been reliably informed that a Thermacell will beat any spray. http://www.mosquitorepellent.com/ Cheers, Mark.
flytie
I tie flies for some guy's who fish in Canada (British Columbia) and Alaska and they tell me all the guides, in both countries, swear by and not at the avon stuff. I still use "Jungle Formula" myself as I bought a load and am still using it, but when I run out then I will try the Avon skin product. Topgunners
And if all these recommendations fail try , after bite stick pencil. It don't half sooooooothe the bites instantly. Stops u scratching. http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/holiday_and_su...ment-AFB14.html Best thing since sliced bread. Dave K

30-6
Another one is something with "crocodile" in the name, (can't find it at the moment). I use it with pretty good effect (or I will when I find it) I had mine from Field and Forces.

Graham M
Soft & Fresh was previously known as Woodland Fresh and has always been one of Avon's most popular fragranced bath and body ranges. Soft & Fresh is exactly the same great formula you know and love but with a new name and sleek new packaging. Soft & Fresh contains a key ingredient called Citronella. It's a zesty fragrance which acts as an effective insect repellent. Geeze, I should have been in advertising…… “Keep death off the road” posters or somethin’ G.M. :yp:
