Ricko
Just heard on the news, murder convictions secured for the two suspects. I have not followed the trial/case closely but was shocked with the undercover(?) recordings that were obtained and used as part of the evidence. onefulham
Justice at last, strange though that yesterday's Durham murders are knocked right off the news, we seem to only be able to deal with one issue at a time in this country. Is it though? I cant help think that the blunders made by police with the evidence and the pressures to secure a conviction that they/one of them may not be quilty
unapalomablanca
I find it hard to believe that after 18 years they manage to find microscopic evidence, when it could easily be argued that the police lumped all the evidence exhibits in the same bag. This is the basis of their conviction, all the other stuff was ruled insufficient for years. I dont like the accused one bit but i think that this was a left wing show trial/witchunt and all the concept of fair trial went out of the window. I think you will see an appeal and aquittal, if anyone will be 'allowed' to take the case on.
Spiderdude
Although there is no doubt they are racist ********, I have a nagging feeling that this isn't the end of it. Despite the judge saying to forget all previous publicity, how could the jury possibly do that. There is surely going to be appeals on the grounds of not having a fair trial & chain of evidence. Personally, on what little I've seen I'm sure they did or were involved in the original crime.
Mungler
They're low lifes and they probably did it (and if they didn't do it then they know who did) But yes, it's got appeal stamped all over it. pigeonblasterian
I hope they get put away for as long as possible. They were arrogant when they were tried the first time.It has been a long time for the family to get some justice for their son. onefulham
I agree that this is not the end, Gonna run for years, can see them winning an appeal,

Regardless of their attitude they deserve a fair trial, the pressure to convict someone was stacked on a tiny amount of evidence. In any other murder case with the same evidence i dont think there would have been a conviction. Gordon R
They got a fair trial and justice. It's just that some will not accept their guilt. Lord only knows why.
sitsinhedges
This isn't justice, stephen lawrence has been used as some kind of anti racism totem for the last two decades and I doubt the powers that be care who did it as long as someone got convicted. Can anyone point me to a white persons black murderers being pursued with the same vigour or being repeatedly being put on trial until the 'correct' verdict was reached? I don't know whether they did it or not but the methods used to secure a conviction stink, along with the fact that they appear to have spent the last 18yrs being harrassed by the authorities despite being found not guilty originally. ordnance
Good to see them going to jail if they are guilty. But their are unsolved murders all the time why was so much time and effort put into this investigation. Should all murders not be treated equally and the same effort put into catching the guilty. The same thing is happening here with some historic enquiries. Some get more time and effort than others.
death from below
it seems that eventually they were going to get convicted - I don't doubt they did it or had some heavy involvement in the original murder but I am suprised evidence has been found after all these years strong enough to convict and evidence that was deemed inadmissable by the nature of how it was obtained suddenly becomes allowed in court. like already mentioned, i await the retrial/mistrial/acquital etc.
Gordon R
What is the problem with two killers being convicted. I rely on the judge and jury, but the world and his wife seem to rely on "a feeling". They are not at the trial, hear no evidence, but form an opinion based on what? Priceless. imissalot
Guilty pity the other scrowts don't get charged even the cops need to found guilty
Gordon R
I have no preference. I have no time for racist killers or racists for that matter. No doubt they will appeal. What will posters say if their appeal fails. Unlucky?
ordnance
They got a fair trial and justice. It's just that some will not accept their guilt. Lord only knows why. There have been to many people jailed for murder. Who have later being found to be innocent to presume all people who are jailed for murder are guilty. Vince Green
The main and poviotal point about this case which doesn't seem to have come out it this case just finished is the suggestion that CID at the time of the murder (allegedly) took bungs to kill it off from the father of one of the suspects. If that is true then justice has been done. Lets see what happens next, there might be more still to come out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5214644.stm Edited January 3, 2012 by Vince Green
jacksdad
Theres a couple of programmes on tonight, think ITV is 10.35 (not in the listings ) I reckon they will be aquitted again, will claim millions in compensation, sell their stories to the sleazepapers....they murdered him, or were involved and know who did: either way they should get life for all the grief they have brought on to so many people
Mungler
One or both defendants are currently inside serving time on unrelated matters. It's not like plod grabbed to random vicars off the street and made a case to fit. If the defendants weren't quite so clearly lawless scum I and the rest of the country might go some way as to giving a monkeys about their treatment at the hands of the press and the law. There are much more worthy examples of actual and potential miscarriages of justice; indeed whenever I hear those words I think of Sally Clark, rest her soul. Kes
Let us all hope the mother who suggested her son was at home and could not have been at the scene, is burnt at the stake for lying. Sorry that should be "charged with Perjury and Perverting the course of Justice". What a sad catalogue this has been for the family and particularly the parents of the lad who was killed. I have no warmth in my heart for any killers. Edited January 3, 2012 by Kes
