crob12
I clean my auto every time i use it, as I do with all my guns
Farmer-of-the-Futre
We clean the shotguns after every use. This may be a bit OTT but in the end the gun will last longer and barrels wont get pitted
BerettaSV10
I clean them after every use, even if its only a pull through with a bore snake then clean it soon as possable afterwoods.
retromlc
I do mine about every 500 carts or when i'm bored
TbirdX
Mine gets done every 50-100 carts, but only because I shoot twice a month, which leaves me plenty of time between for cleaning.
bedwards1966
I'd suggest cleaning it every time it's shot, much better than getting pitted barrels
phaedra1106
Twice through with the pull through using 09 on the first section and Hoppes oil on the last section and a quick once over with a lightly oiled rag after every outing. Full strip and clean 2 or 3 times a year, 6500+ carts through it in over 4 years and not a problem Edited January 7, 2012 by phaedra1106
lewj
I clean mine every time i have once cleaned it after firing 6 carts :yp: Edited January 7, 2012 by lewj
Wildfowler12
My guns get cleaned every single time they've been out, even if I havn't fired a shot! I don't take any chances, especially if I've been out on the marsh.
rapid basher
probably a stupid question but what would the pitting of the barrel cause? accruracy etc? Edited January 7, 2012 by rapid basher
brin
no just wear and i clean mine evry time i take it out the only problem i ha ve had is the spring on the single selctor jammed so i took the button off drilled it out to 3.3 mm and put a stainless 3.3 spring in its place it fits better and it will never happen again always clean your gun why do you think they drill it in in the forces
COACH
Minor pitting is no problem at all but they can get worse/deeper if not seen to and kept clean and oiled. This means the barrel walls get thin and cannot take the pressure. But I think the escort has a chromed barrel which shouldn't rust if cleaned properly and regularly. A lot of the older Browning/Miroku's don't have chromed barrels but if you keep a little oil on them each time you use them they will outlast the owner easily. Sandbank
evening all just wondering how often i shud be cleaning my new hatsan escort semi auto as iv herd that there for prone jamming if not cleaned 1000"s 500"cartriges etc :look: The advice you have received is very sound but is mostly related to barrel pitting. With good quality cartridges (non-corrosive primers etc.) modern barrels can take a fair bit of neglect and had your question referred to an O/U I might have a agreed a quick pull through the barrels would do. Semi-autos however are much 'busier' guns with complex internal actions. Residues cleaned within a few hours are removed easily but left for a few weeks, even after 50 shells can take some shifting. I would recommend remove barrel and clean gas mechanism every time the gun is used, entire action and trigger mechanism monthly or after 500 shells which ever comes first. The Hatsan is a gas-regulated semi so make particularly sure the piston moves freely on the shaft and the gas ports are clear.

Winterwolf
Youtube it - There is bound to be a complete strip, clean and refit video on there Every hundred I clean mine ... takes about 15 mins .... make sure the gas piston is nice and clean and the gas ports are free. As above, the barrel is the easy part of a semi, especially a gas operated semi. Lots of other parts need regular attention! Clean EVERY time they are used is a good idea! ciaran
I would clean mine at least once a week during the shooting season, it just all depends, because if you have been shooting on the friday, and your going for a shoot on the Saturday I would just give it a quick rub with an oily rag. Catweazle
I clean the barrel after each use, general opinion is to give the Berettas a proper clean every 2500 rounds, I haven't got anyhwere near that yet on account of all the pigeons are hiding. officerdibble777
another point to remember ,is not to over oil an auto.I clean mine after every use, the exeption being the trigger group. And I don't put solvent or oil anywhere near the gas port or piston.I clean the magazine and fore end screw with a dry cloth,if there is any residue I brass brush it clean. If you oil theese parts and leave too much oil there, any burnt residue is likely to build up and you will have jams.I clean the action and finish it with a little hoppes dry lube on the metal to metal moving parts john
