a while back i posted a thread about a cheap 410 i brought to do a ratting job which i was going to cut barrel down to 24.5inch,

the job is now done and i have now done pattern test to see how it went,

the test's were done on 2 sheets of A4 paper stuck together in the middle of each is a small cross were i placed the bead when aiming the test's were done at 10, 15, 20 meters and using 19g 6s 3inch magnums as that is all i can get hold of at the moment will try 7s when i can find some,

took one apart after to see how much shot is in them 155 pellets each and on the test's i have put down the amount of hits

test 1. 129 out of 155 hit

test 2. 79 out of 155 hit

test 3. 52 out of 155 hit

seem's like 10 to 15 meters is about right and 20 meters has too many holes

as its for close up ratting it seems like it will be fine it has counted for 5 squirrels so far

I did this recently too, the 2.5" carts performed much better. The magnums had holes in the pattern which I would consider large (I am no expert however).

See my thread below.

try your local clayground mate i got some gamebore .410 21/2" no7's from mine ages ago, i used them through my baikal hushpower on roosting pigeons to good effect, as long as i had a clear shot they killed well, rubbish on rabbits though unless sub 20yrds more like 10-15yrds.
