Very average guitarist and a massive hypocrite.

Playing on the roof of Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, knowing full well that QE2 and her family are fervent hunters/shooters is like Morrisey playing a gig at Ronald McDonald's birthday bash. :P

Very well put and funny! Never thought of that one.

Gotta love him!!!!

What a good post! I have looked through it and could not resist putting my comment on advising Brian that he ought to take his head out of his a**e and stop acting in such a hypocritical manner! I will no doubt get a lot of stick for it, but what the heck, they have their opinions and I have mine!

DEAR SOAPBOX FRIENDS

I have been overwhelmed tonight by amazing supportive responses to what I contributed to the Channel 4's FOXES LIVE and MORE 4 programmes this evening.

Thanks so much. The strength of feeling out there seems to be very strong.

I feel this programme has achieved a huge breakthrough for understanding of foxes out there in the streets. And although the bad bits are so shocking to watch - for me it is very painful - it has been absolutely necessary for them to include this material, since, at last, the grisly truth about cruelty to Foxes is being seen by the public. I feel the tide is turning at last. This fight for decent treatment of animals is a lot like Votes for Women, or the Abolition of Slavery … there is no question that we are right. So in the end we must win. Animals must be emancipated and a new contract written ... new laws passed for the protection of ALL animals against cruelty and wanton destruction.

We will get there. And all who help us will be seen by future historians as the enlightened.

Cheers and thanks so much for the support. I will be trying to respond personally to some of these great messages.

Bri

THE AWFUL PUBLIC EXECUTION OF A BEAUTIFUL FOX

Last night the whole nation saw, on a programme called Foxes Live, the shocking sight of the execution of a beautiful adult, perfectly healthy fox.

The creature was trapped in a cage, and presumably left in there most of the night, in a state of panic and distress. And then, while the Channel 4 cameras rolled, a professional gunman 'dispatched' it with a gun.

The sequence was appallingly upsetting to anyone who cares about animals, and one cannot complain about the decision of the programme to show it, because the truth is now finally out for all to see. These intelligent, innocent and precious animals are being murdered at will - and it's not even against the law. Surely the time must now arrive when the law must be changed to protect these fellow mammals from this senseless cruelty and persecution.

And what crime was this animal accused of? According to the man who summoned the executioner, foxes had been 'frightening the birds in his aviary'. It was not established, of course, that this particular fox had ever even been near his birds, and even if it had, by what process was it decided that this is a capital offence? What are we thinking of, here? Without any kind of arbitration or trial, people are able to kill a wild mammal just because they have decided its beaviour is annoying them.

This is a crime against our fellow creatures - it's legalised murder, and must must be recognised as such.

It's incredible that this man was able to decide that the lives of a bunch of birds (who should not be kept in cages anyway) were more important than a highly sentient and cognisant animal - with a nervous system almost identical to a human, or a dog, or a cat.

People … are you going to stand by any longer and let this happen? Please make this the day when you say "Enough cruelty to animals".

Please join us on Save-Me Facebook - join up and help us fight for the decent treatment of animals. And ask your friends to join. And please write to your MP telling him what you think about the way the present law fails to protect our wild animals, and to the newspapers. Spread the horror story - let us see Britain's animal lovers unite, rise up, and rid this country of this unacceptable cruelty.

Over-rated - very, very average guitarist. Not fit to lace Jimmy Page's boots.

I despise stars who suddenly become experts on things they know little about. Think Bob Geldorf, Bono etc.

A couple of years ago, some parents found a fox attacking their baby. He popped up out of the woodwork and said a fox would never do that. At best, he was calling them liars, with nothing other than his tiny brain to support his stupid and erroneous view.

The man has lost the plot - if indeed he ever had it.

I see that any "negative" comments trying to put over the other side of things have been deleted from that page now! It just goes to show that some people are so single minded!

Yes Frenchieboy they have removed your comments, mine are still there, and I have just replied to some of their biased statements.

They honestly believe foxes do not kill lambs, they also think farmers should use fox proof fencing ?.

Probably a matter of time before they remove my comments based on facts not on sentiment. We see foxes in their natural environment, not through a kitchen window. God help us if those people had to run our farms, at least it would cure obesity.

His web site is awful isn't it? I thought 'who's that woman he's with?' and it's Steve Tyler.

In my experience there is a direct (inverse) relationship between people's excessive regard for animals in comparison with their regard for human brings.

'professional gunman' - what an a-hole.

Indeed, I agree totally, it is one of the most significant failings of a large portion of our society. My experiences also suggest it affects "developed" society far more than under developed ones - an inverse sense (loss) of real values. Much to my regret and disbelief my own wife can continue eating her dinner in front of the telly with images of children dying of starvation or disease in a third world country but she throws a hissy fit if there is a story shown of a mistreated or injured animal. Beggars belief...

Anyway he's on Question Time next week, I hope someone calls him out
