lexikia
Is there any Left handed shooters who have a R/H Semi Auto? Can't find a reasonably priced L/H one so was wandering what problems if any i would have with a R/H one.
stevo_m
The main issue will be the cartridges edjecting past your eyes and nose each time. Major problem if you ask me. Steve

Bleeh
Funnily enough I've shot a Left handed auto right handed. I didn't find any really issues, You get used to it quickly and the cartridges didn't really get that close. I'm guessing the real issue is when the gun has a catastrophic failure (Barrel blockage or something), as if it was serious enough everything would fly into your face, but the chances of that happening are pretty slim (let's hope). pontbeck
I `m left handed and have just bought a right hand auto. Don`t` notice the cartridges but I wear glasses in case of any powder blowing back. No real problems and I liked the Beretta best, only made right hand. soulboy1957
After three trips to A&E to have powder residue washed out of my eye, I took the plunge and bought a secondhand Benelli M2 left handed, best move,it fits me cast wise, hits a good percentage of what I aim at and no trips to A&E.. BlaserF3
Remington used to make a left handed one, they should be a reasonable price now.
Arklyte
I cant say that I understand how some manufacturers can charge extra for a left handed version whilst others do not charge anything at all.

Rushjob
I'm left handed - I use a Gamba S/A right handed eject and have no issues whatsoever with ejected cartridges. Same with my Ruger 10-22 ( and my G36 and P990 before I had to give those back.....) Then again, I always wear eye protection when shooting. walshie
I use a L/H Remington 1100. Old but works great. Price was similar to R/H versions.

Catweazle
I have shot (L/H) thousands of rounds through various R/H semis with no problems. I do wear glasses though ( after being hit under the eye with a bit of metal jacket at a practical pistol comp) which may have stopped some powder over the years. I currently use a R/H Beretta A400 and with 2.5" 34g Supreme Game cartridges I occasionally see a flame in the barrel as the spent cartridge is ejected. I put this down to slow burning powder, short case and fast opening action. It doesn't happen with other cartridges, but might concern you if you have no glasses on. KFC
I had to learn to shoot left handed when I lost full use of my right eye.(not shooting related) I have used a right handed Stoeger M2000 from my left shoulder for quite a while now without a problem. This has a Benelli licensed Inertia action in it rather than gas operated so there is minimal blowback. My right eye has recovered enough that I've had to learn right handed all over again. The beauty now is that I can shoot from either shoulder. I still have to use a rifle left handed though. I don't know but I imagine that there is more of a risk from a gas operated semi auto than with an inertia operated one. It may be wise to wear safety glasses in any case because, take it from me, you rarely get a second chance.
