Just a fantastic post. :good:

A thought about wad material.

How about the fiber board that you put under laminate flooring?

Or the board that's used for Notice Boards, That you push drawing pins in?

Both can be stiffened by soaking in candle wax.

Your very own 'Kleena' wads.

I got various springs at the weekend to try. The best compromise between trigger pull and detonating the primer was 2 springs giving non linear compression. The step on the firing pin ensures both are kept concentric whilst the smaller spring sits nicely up against the shoulder

Here are some pictures of the punch being made. This is the handle...

This is turning the sharp end

Here it is finished

I put the punch to the test... it worked perfectly!

I cut a disc of hardboard out with a hole cutter drill and sanded it smooth on the linnisher, cut some cereal box card to the right size and rolled up a shot cup, sandwiching the tabs between the hardboard and the card disc... I then cut 4 slits down them so they open up properly

Its not pretty but its a good fit

I've started making the connectors for the cleaning rod too

You need to write a book about this. It would make a fantastic read.

Thats a great idea I will buy a signed copy Wildfowler or better still I will buy 3 copies but can you put some drawings & measurements in there .

If you can sell as many copies as your post has had reads then you may have a nice little earner :hmm:

Good luck ATVB Pole Star

Been watching this thread for a while now, think we've all dreamed of doing something like this, just watching it progress has been amazing! To actually be involved in it must be a once in a lifetime opportunity!

And the workmanship put some professionals to shame in my opinion, absolutely top job!

This is with 6oz of shot at 70 yards. The mrs counted the hits and sprayed them with paint so we didn't double count on the second shot...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVkRIPQhX3E&feature=player_detailpage

6oz of steel shot was 566 pieces. out of that 263 were on the board so 46%, i think the pattern blew...

the sulphur in the black powder started diss-colouring the brass after just one shot...
