ayano3
Ok guys (and girls maybe). My hide poles are getting beyond repair now, they have lasted well but had to many repairs to them to be any good. I have seen many types on the market but I am asking you what you think are the best. My present ones are lightweight and have the twist lock system for extending them...which I like. They have the top like a clothes post...but only one has the plate for driving into hard ground. I have seen some with plates on each pole which I think look pretty good as the poles could be better in windy conditions if used correctly. Am I right ?? I would appreciate it if you could let me know what you think are the best on the market using your own experiences. Many Thanks Graham
Lord Geordie
I am thinking of getting some 2mm thick tube cutting at 30 degree angles and drive them into the ground and put the poles.in there.

They are a bit dearer than some but most of my mates have been through 2 or more sets since I bought mine, Good luck

steve_b_wales
I now use 'ready made' hide poles, but what I did a few years ago, was to cut some 3"x2" timber into wedges, and then drilled holes into them so that clothes line poles (Wilkinson etc) fitted into them. I found this good when the ground was hard, as I used to stamp the wedges into the ground first. I still have them as a back up.

T-Bolt94
Hide poles for me, pack of 10 plastic coated bamboo canes from B&Q with 3 hooks screwed into each one. 10£ tops covers your poles and I stopped off at poundland and got a rubber mallet and a gardening dibber and so far I am yet to find a fault!! Cheep and effective
fenboy
A1d ecoys have a special offer on some very decent hide poles. £25 for four, solid spikes with footplates and also come in a bag. Cos I brought a set of these and to be honest they are not the greatest the solid base seems to be cast and tends to bend when pushing into hard ground and i think its only a matter of time until they break , the tube is also held onto the casting by a tiny pin which again is not very solid and does not give the impression it will stand the test of time. A mate has the uk shoot warehouse ones and they are much better made and next time I need a set thats what I will go for.
JBS
Hi I use shootwarehouse poles - they have lasted years used 4 + times a week. They are a bit dearer than some but most of my mates have been through 2 or more sets since I bought mine, Good luck Couldn't agree more, I have four poles from them and they are way better than any of the others, really strong solid construction with solid spikes and kick plates. They also sell a super strong add on for the spikes but I have no idea why, I can't see these ever bending without them
humperdingle
Deben hide poles - Strong, good pointed end, all have solid foot plates, and are extendable up to about 5'. I think they were about £50 for 4 - And they've performed great, taking all the faff out of the other DIY efforts i'd made previously. The net is ratchet-tied on to the poles, so it all rolls up and goes in a bag.

ScubaSparky
AA Decoys have a set of 4 for £25 also aa decoys for me I brought some of AA Decoy's excellent 4x Hide Poles c/w Holdall / Bag for £26 from Quy Country Fair (also brought one of their 5m Stealth Nets for £21) Interestingly a sticker on one of the poles leads them to being supplied/manufactured from "Elite Hunters" - They have them on their website for £32.99 so cheaper to get them from "AA Decoys" I wonder if "AA Decoys" Turbo Flappers are also supplied by "Elite Hunters" ? Cheers Simon

djanyd1
Look up "dinsmore syndicate power drive bankstick" on ebay these will last a lifetime! They will be my next purchase... I also use power drive banksticks they are cheap strong and reliable I painted them green and used rubber rod rests at the top to hook my net on. Don't use plastic rod rests as they break the minute you put them in your 4 x4 or car
KDR
Been looking at these power drive banksticks myself...I think 4 of these maybe added to the set up over the weekend.
DBD81
A1d ecoys have a special offer on some very decent hide poles. £25 for four, solid spikes with footplates and also come in a bag. Cos These sound like the ones i have. I would not advise anyone to buy them if they would like them to last.. Mine lasted a season before i had trouble.. The plastic tightning grips have worn and when you tighten it threads. I've also bent two poles and i dont know how.. I dont think they are value for money, even at £25.. I have used A1Decoys a number of times for various bits and pieces and always been pleased which is why I posted as I did. Cos

I have used A1Decoys a number of times for various bits and pieces and always been pleased which is why I posted as I did. Cos No Problems, just a heads up.. Mine came in a light brown colour carrying bag with a black strap, the poles are green in colour with a silver foot plate for driving the pole home.... I've seen similar around the net, but I'm not sure on quality of other poles.... Its certainly put me off buying another set lol
