Robl
I’m not entirely sure the maths is correct either. By my reckoning it’s just over 5 million quid. Assuming every single day for 25 years. (Fully realising someone will check that and I may have made a mistake)
neil3728
i've heard of this before a few years ago, no idea if its true or not but a very good story.
walshie
I read about this a few years ago, when he first went "missing". Although at the time the figure was estimated to be about £1 million. Either way, fair play to him I say.
sandspider
Not true, local legend. (I've never been charged to park at Bristol Zoo). Good one though!

Hamster
You could not turn up somewhere everyday for 25 years for a start and someone would suspect something wasn't right after a few weeks at most.
Thunderbird
Not true, local legend. (I've never been charged to park at Bristol Zoo). Good one though! It might or might not be a local legend but parking at the Zoo isn't free and hasn't been for ages. Parking The North car park on Clifton Down is open every day the Zoo is open. The West car park on College Road is open during peak periods and an overflow car park operates on the Downs during the high season. Day visitors: £3 per car Members: £1 per car Corporate, hospitality and business visitors: £3 per car

jef
And once you'd made your first million, or second for that matter you'd still turn out every day to collect more tickets. I think not. JF

Spaniel
They were charging £3 to park on top the downs in Aug..... Anyway if true fare play to the guy, i use to park in the car park there as it was cheap and close to the zoo, better then walking back up that hill after a day walking around the zoo
Thunderbird
In the early 90s I used to live within a stone's throw of the zoo (I didn't by the way) and the animal noises at night were really weird. That was when they had more exotic stuff than they have now though. Anyone remember Wendy the elephant, or the white tigers? I'm too young to remmeer Alfred the Gorilla though... bobt
Selby used to have a tollbridge, on market days the queue would back up half a mile or more, one day a local put a satchel over his shoulder and walked up the queue taking the coppers it cost, when they got to the bridge and were asked to pay,.................. ack-ack
Anyone remember Wendy the elephant, or the white tigers? I'm too young to remmeer Alfred the Gorilla though... Yeah I do as it happens, from what I remember Wendy was a bit of a cock tease. I never warmed to her. Alfred certainly had the gift of the gab.. He still owes my uncle a score.
