mr williamson
Hi guys iv gotta put this up here lol. was out today on the decoys shooting crows, got myself a slab of RWS Rottweil special 36g 6s (actualy english size 5 1/2) and boy what a cartridge they looked like the were getting hit by an express train going flat out!! Long range birds 40 yards + had the same effect what a clout they were getting. Recoil aint an issue either least not in my sporter. I will be buying a 1000 when these run out. They aint the cheapest cartridges at 67 for 250 but in my oppinion there up there with gamebores blackgold!!
Zapp
I used to use Rottweil HVIIs in English 5 and they were just as you describe. Seriously good cartridges, I wish I could still get them round here.
mr williamson
They are truly brilliant i couldnt beleive how hard they hit. Realy realy like them. If you want some try world sporting they stock all the rottweil range there on the net and deliver to your door. I get mine from a local shop but the website of world sporting looks good. carl
magman
Gamebore 32g clear pigeon hit as hard as any
Whitebridges
Shot Rottweil cartridges before and really liked them. Seemed to have disappeared of the shelves locally which is a great shame.
Cosd
What quarry you shooting mr Williamson ?
Catweazle
They sound like a useful cartridge for those of use who are, shall we say, "less gifted" with a shotgun. Actually, having written that, I'm thinking of some more PC phrases for "useless". How about "Differently Talented" ? Or " Alternatively Accurate" ? mr williamson
Honestly all jokes aside i think there one of the best cartridges i have shot. Iv shot loads of top of the range cartridges black golds, vip, supreme game, but the rottweils stand out to me for ther down range killing power! I have previously shot the same load in no2 shot and they were fantastic on fox. There cartridge prices are not the cheapest but i can see myself sticking with them. I actualy went to the gun shop for clear pigeon as mention in above post, and i noticed the rottweils i asked what they were like and he said they were a blood good shell, i second that!! Floating Chamber
You could emulate this shell in a home load.

Cranfield
Gamebore 32g clear pigeon hit as hard as any The 30gm version is also just as deadly, if you know how to use it properly.
fieldwanderer
I had a slab of 30g rottweils a few years back, same size shot and they were truly evil but I stopped using them because they were green and I could never find the empties from my semi! The home loaded 5s I've been making are similar though, without the vicious recoil. perhaps I should consider making heavier loads
EdSolomons
36 g 5.5s will hit pigeons/crows hard, any brand any spec! But if you feel they help then get stuck in!
utectok
Mmm fine if it suits you and you can afford it personally I'd never shoot so much lead at crows 28 gm will do in 6 just fine out to 40 yrds
dougall
Well Mr Williamson I think you should write a book on cartridge selection...you've tried them all this year!! 36g though is quite a load for a days decoying.
Guest cookoff013
i`ve used these in 4s and 2s on rabbits.
THE GRIFF
I've just got a slab of 35g no 6(English 5.5) victory in plastic wad, these are also a hard hitting cartridge. A bit overkill for decoying but will be good for higher flighting pigeons and roost shooting.
miroku moocher
i'v been using kent velocity hv pigeon'29grm 6's . and i'v been foldin up some nice high birds. cheap aswell £42 a slab..
the crowman
I use 28g 7 1/2 choke full full just as good and cheap as chips :) Cheers Mark
mr williamson
Well Mr Williamson I think you should write a book on cartridge selection...you've tried them all this year!! 36g though is quite a load for a days decoying. i will admit i have tried alot of cartridges this year. But the way i look at, shooting is all about experience and finding what works for you. I agree it quite a heavy cartridge but i intend to use em on high driven pheasant this season. P.s no such thing as over kill specialy on crows , dead is dead!
EdSolomons
"dead is dead" bang on. That's why I'd be trying to save on paying for an extra 8g of lead! :-)
mr williamson
I like the cartridge lol bit like folk using black gold wen the could be using a cheaper load. For me it worth having the extra punch for clean kills at longer ranges. I know most cartridges will do that but these realy will do that every time providing the shots on target. Mr Potter
Zapp, see this link http://www.*******************/Rottweil/ for Rottweil carts in the UK. Can't work out from that were they are located (I thought it was Orston SG?). To be honest I'm surprised that no-one has been on claiming there's not a quarry species within 100 yards that wont be killed cleanly and with no perceived recoil (and leaving spotlessly clean barrels) using the humble 24g, shot size 9 by Cheddite. potter-potter
