Living a stones throw from the wash I often get Pinks feeding in fields around my house , saw my first three skeins of the seasons today , perhaps 300-400 birds in total , went over my permission heading well inland.

There are quite a few getting about. I've shot a couple this week.

Plenty around here as I look out the office window must be about 500 roosting on a sand bar in the firth, got my quota two weeks ago 2 pinks and two greys, had a grey and it was tough, rest in the freezer, may have a go again this weekend as long as we have some wind or its not worth the early morning rise.

Yup...definately heading inland!! We spotted a Skein of around 80 last night. Which is quite rare around these parts as we normally just have the Greys and Canadas.

Finaly managed to get my first pink of the season , though more be luck than anything. I flighted the sand dunes for mallard with a hope that a skien of pinks might come out to sea from the flood meadows. In fact the reverse happened . A skien came from behind heading the wrong way at dusk ( inland ) very low with the wing behind them , catching me with only a 3 inch no three steel duck shell in the chamber. I just had time for a quick shot at extreame range ( but i did have a back up BB in the magazine ) and took one out. I never shot at a second bird , tracking my goose down incase it recovered , but the 36 gr mammoths did a good job and though it was a runner my dog quickly caught it. Later examination showed its wing broken is 3 places and a couple of pellets in the body.

A jammy goose , that I never should have had.

I'm in dyserth. There around the dee, think there on the mud flats at night as I see them leaving there early morning. Don't know where there heading to feed though. Don't get too excited its mainly Canada's and greys but in good numbers. At a guess I'd say see around 3 skeens of pinks each morning of about 15 strong.

Pm me if your local & you would like more detailed info.
