Bloke
Not bacon, but you haven't lived until you have had a salt beef on rye from a New York deli on the Lower East Side . Its about 4" thick Absoutely! Had one called a 'Brooklyn Spiced' -Layers of pastrami, lettuce, salami, cheddar cheese, more salt beef, then onion, tomato, and blue cheese, topped off with chili sauce! Sounds awful, but tasted superb! -Back on the Bacon Butty subject - Fresh local bread, thick sliced, salted butter, home cured or smoked back bacon (thick sliced), fried onions (Proper well fried, not these anaemic lumps you get now!) Mushrooms, and 2 fried eggs, with runny yolks. Sauce only if using cheap nasty supermarket bacon.
working dog
Two thick slices of white bloomer A spreading of cooked chopped plum tomatoes A good dusting of white pepper Plenty of smoked dry cured bacon (local butcher) A spreading (but not too much) HP sauce Add a fried egg (soft yolk) if the mood takes you
henry d
Best bacon is the skin off two duck breasts dry fried on the inside first then the outside with a pan on top to stop them from curling, once crispy slap them in two slices of wholemeal. Paul T
Fry bacon and when it starts colouring up add some thinly sliced pigeon breast. Give it about 20 secs each side and serve up with a blob of HP brown in thick cut buttered white bread. Best served on a cold morning at the side of a pigeon shooting field with a mug of tea
Uncle Albert
Crispy streaky back bacon couple of nice eggs in a white bun, don't need any sauce ruining it. Sometimes a big slice of blackpudding fried till crispy outside on top of the eggs & bacon, mmmmm just what my wife is cooking for me now Figgy +1 Nummmmm, Nummmmm, Nummmmm. Only problem is HID ain't cooking. The best she can do is cha grilled beef burgers, rock hard at that. Could do a very good line in mini frisbees? digger
Unsmoked middle fried until border line crispy. Add a tea spoon of goose fat to the frying pan then place a slice of bread in and fry til golden. Place on kitchen roll in oven. Dice chestnut mushrooms and one shallot with a pinch of black pepper. Flash fry, between two toasted doorsteps layer the bacon and mushroom mixture, the fried bread another layer of bacon and the top slice.
