contrysports
Is it just me or does others find some of the shots on this video unsporting. In my opinion this is setting a very bad example to everyone who shoots however some of the shots are alright even though i'm mainly against the shooting of hares. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8uLSdSlVQ0 Edited March 24, 2013 by contrysports

Dunkield
So to be sportsman do you have to not shoot things? There is nothing wrong with shooting driven boar or deer, provided you are proficient, if you aren't just don't do it. I thought the worst thing about the vid was the last shot, I just couldn't see the point in videoing it and putting on the web, but each to their own? NIGHT SEARCHER
Have a look at 2.22 very bad. Not very good for a shooting show. Nothing sporting about shooting something that`s under your feet 10 15 yds.
Bleeh
I don't really like driven hare days. But Everyone is happy to fill every hare with lead, but when the keeper asks who is going to take one home there is a lot of mummering and turned heads.I'm not saying that they shouldn't be shot, but as (mostly) they are not being shot as pests, I believe they should be showed the same respect people show other game, such as Deer and pheasants, and this is why I believe the unwritten rules of 'Sporting chance' should apply for hares for the same reasons It applies to a pheasant flying at 10ft. aga man
just a driven hare day really. has gone on for decades. nice if they are cleanly killed but as we all know doesn't always happen. could of been edited a bit better. i agree with wabbitbosher about the stupid unsafe way of carrying a semi auto. proper numpty

The unsporting shots is what annoys me.
contrysports
On one of my relatives farms in Doncaster was full of hares only a few years ago however now to the increase in poaching/coursing them they have all disapeared. New sporting laws should be applied to hares before its too late!

Not2Night
Peter Carr on the shooting show was way out order in the way he and others were shooting hares and in there gun safety , to shoot one at point blank range and then say what cracking shot says it all, he mainly shoots rifles ,i shoot with people that shoot rifles a lot and they seem to see very thing they shoot at as just a bulls eye and not as a sporting shot, come on Peter lets not give our sport a bad name. al4x
The last shot he made was poor and there were some long range shots that weren't on but ultimately it is a form of pest control. It is only done when they need thinning out and as such needs to be humane. The best way to be humane is to stand still and let them come to you and shoot reasonably close up. Thats unpalatable to some but it isn't true sporting shooting, though it can be at times it is its still best to kill them within your capabilities and more importantly the cartridges. We have a couple of days at it most years and shoot a lot more than that and its the kind of day you almost don't enjoy, the people side of it is more enjoyable than the actual task in hand but I certainly had a few this year that were very memorable. JDog
Is this the 'exaggerating how many hares I have shot thread'? I know that the 1000 hares was a throw away number but don't give your friends on the locked pigeon shooting thread any chance to bite back at you. fallowbuck
Some of the shots were unsporting but to say not to shoot hares is rather short sighted?Where there are big numbers ,then shoot them if required.I like a nice hare personally, lovely in a pressure cooker stew, tenderizes them a treat.Or "Jug" em in cider or wine! Bootiful! The Continentals DO EAT what they shoot, unlike many in Britain.
