Churchill
Hi Guys & Gals, I've just spent the day shooting at Hodnet, nearly 5 hours walking around on snow and thawing mud. I had a old basic pair of rubber "Hunter" wellies on with a couple of pairs of thick socks, and my feet were freezing towards the end. I've also had the same issue when sat in the hide pigeon shooting. So what are your recommendations on a "insulated" (money no object) waterproof boot or wellington for shooting ? Regards, Churchill. PhilR
My neoprene lined Le Chams are warmer to wear than my leather lined ones. I've got a thin pair of silk socks I wear under my thick game shooting long socks which also help keep my feet warm. HTH

Big Mat
Any neoprene line wellie will help. I wear hunter ones. Heat holder socks really help though, i wear them when i've got my rubber thigh waders on and have been stood up to the top of them in water and my feet have been loverly and warm! dazsl
I find that neoprene wellies make my feet sweat and then my feet get cold but I had a pair with fleece lining and neoprene and never had a problem lacrosse wellies can't beat them

MBW
I can't wear wellys in the cold, when I walk my feet sweat in them and then standing about they soon freeze and then can't get a heat again, what I wear in winter is a pair of black islander boots ( google them ) with thin dress socks - the kind you would wear with a suit and smart shoes with a pair of thick hiking socks over the top that wee combo has served me well tramping the hills in winter even to wading through snow up to my knackers all day
fenboy
Time for fenboys tip of the day. As has been mentioned already , when your feet sweat they are more likely to become cold . Solution is just the same as for your hairy arm pits , spray the bottom of your feet with anti-perspirant , less sweat = warmer feet , try it I kid you not !!
