goodo123
Shot a couple of boxes of these on Wednesday, although they went bang and broke some clays I couldn't really get on with them. Compared to Kent velocity, white gold, EVO and others these eley first just didn't seem to work as good.... Might sound daft but can the fps change in the same carts as I'd be shooting x stand giving x amount of lead then I'd have to alter lead 1/2 way through? OvEr_KiLL
some eley carts are good, olympics etc but the first are rubbish! cheapest eley carts they do yes the fps changes but the thing is weather you actually notice it or not, some people do some people dont if you want good cheap cartridges then use the hull superfast plas or fibres, very nice carts and fast! Gordon R
Shot at Rishton today, with Eley First 8s and Kent Velocity 7s. Couldn't really tell the difference. Both very good.
OvEr_KiLL
just remember guys the eley firsts are 65mm so not semi auto friendly!
BlaserF3
just remember guys the eley firsts are 65mm so not semi auto friendly! My Beretta cycles Eley First and any other 65mm cartridge apart from 21 gms, my 391 used to cycle 21gms with no problem
washerboy
tried 75 in my sxs and they were ok, not as good as xcomps..more shredded paper
Therealchucknorris
Had 42/50 with them in my previous clay session and then had 42/50 with some Saga carts at the same ground today. All done with a Lanber Gold Deluxe so I wouldn't say IMO that they're bad. I get them for £160 per 1,000 (fibre wad 28gm) and can't see that I'd have improved my score by switching to a pack that cost £7-8 for 25. As long as you're tracking the targets and know when to pull the trigger then you're not going to go too far wrong.
goodo123
Think I'll stick to evo's then, also got some Olympics to try....
webber
Try Fiocchi Top 1s. They knock the Eley First into a cocked hat at a similar price. webber
HDAV
I like Olympics good in a semi..... The top1 I haven't shot for a while were good if a bit punchy. Just got some saga to try Edited April 21, 2013 by HDAV
BlaserF3
Nowt wrong with Fiocchi Top One, I've just finished a batch of 5000. The only reason I've bought Eley Firsts was they have a bit less recoil and I only ever shoot 24gm, normally with a plaswad.
Dekers
just remember guys the eley firsts are 65mm so not semi auto friendly! Perhaps not in a Hatsan but my Beretta 303 and 391 have never complained!
Dekers
Eley First are a "Budget" Workhorse cart. I don't know, but from what I see around it would not surprise me if Eley make more of these than any other cart (just a guess, someone may actually know some figures). It stands to reason that they are not their best and there will always be odd batch issues, but the VAST majority of people simply aren't good enough to notice or let it worry them! They do fine for me!
Stuartph
I use these and they work fine I'm my remy 1100
TbirdX
just remember guys the eley firsts are 65mm so not semi auto friendly! Not quite, if you look closely you will see it says 65mm on the box but the cases are actually 67mm and cycle fine in most semis. Certainly ok in all the Maxuses in our group. goodo123
Will have to try top one next time if I can get some. Seems like a few people having issues so probably best to stay away.

If it is in range and you put enough pellets in the right place at the right time then the clay will break or the quarry will fall out the sky…it is as simple as that. That is why guns are proofed to such a high speck to enable the pressures of the cheapest round to the most expensive… one thing is guaranteed.. YOU CAN MISS WITH ALL OFF THEM… TEH Edited April 23, 2013 by The Essex Hunter

That has to be the daftest post i have read for a while. My uncles browning semi doesnt like 65/67mm cases fine with 70mm so he uses olympics......as there is no fibre olympic olympic load if you have a fussy semi and need fibre in a budget clay shell then there are others that will probably suit better.......... I have shot my way through many slabs of firsts fibre/plas 21g 28g 7.5/8/9 and never had an issue......(well not one where the cartridge was to blame...) Imperfection
I've used many different brands of cartridge and the only difference i find is in my pockets cos Firsts are cheap.
Bloke
Not had a issue using firsts - better than compX..... +1 just remember guys the eley firsts are 65mm, so not semi auto friendly! As others have said - Not so. My Benelli cycles them fine in 28gm and 24gm, but I admit, when I try to run 21g in it, it occasionally misses, about 1 in 25, but whats the point in running 21g in an auto (unless you grab the wrong cartridge case on the way out of the door ).
