plank06
Iv got a Franchi Raptor mate, fantastic build quality. Has cycled everything flawlessly, duper easy to strip and clean. They go for around £500 on here. The company are owned by Beretta so you can be assured of quality!

jackinbox99
Ive a Beretta AL391 ive had for years. You can just about get one in your price range, and it will hold its value. Cracking guns. At one point I used to be putting about 250 cartridges every Sunday through mine and it would happily cycle 21g upwards.
steveyg
Hi feedback from a newbie.. recently purchased a Beretta A303 and have been very pleased so far. For the money it's a quality piece of used kit previously I have shot with Browning,325 & 525 and a Beretta 682 Gold E O/U. The change to a semi has not caused any issues and has the obvious benefit of that 3rd shot... which with pigeon shooting comes in handy As the experienced shooters have said on numerous posts, gun fit is everything cheers

Remington , ok great handling guns but lots of reliability issues and jamming with poorly maintained guns. Escort, plenty of users have had lots of issues with reliability , barrels blowing up and chokes shooting out among other things DO NOT IGNORE NEGATIVE REPORTS, but weigh up the pros and cons , lots like them but just as many hate them , you only have to look in the sales on here and on average there will be 2 a week come up , if they are so great why ? Beretta extrema 1 had lots of jamming problems which is why it was very quickly replaced with the extrema 2 . I use a Beretta ulrika 391 and its a very good gun which will fall into your price range s/h and would be hard to beat.

Everything needs maintenance, basic servicing and o ring replacement cut off latch circlip checks as necessary they are reliable. Remington are no more problematic than any other semi auto if neglected . Escorts blowing up barrels! A dramatic terminology and all i ever saw was a escort that had a Beretta Mobil choke fitted that bulged the barrel and edgars replaced it despite a non original choke being involved. Hatsans use Mobil choke threads in the 12ga models but the factory Beretta tubes do seen sloppy to me when you install them, never a problem with carlsens or briley and even the terror chokes that are notorious for finding any barrel flaws with their tight constrictions. terrors have given issues in other Mobil choked guns, in accentual fact escorts are normally good on specs in the choke threads. MKi and 2 extremas are like as like with regards reliability, your MK1 must have had a fault i have had both mk 1 and now a mk2 and i cant fault the reliability of either my MK1 had a point of impact issue that was traced to the choke tubes which were replaced by GMK under warranty no further issues . If anything the MK2 extrema was a bit of a disappointment i got it for the kick off but in truth i personally preferred the MK1. The 391 its your call i will never own one ever!. solz
If you think benelli kick then you need man up lol. I've got a m2 and can't not fault it one bit, picked uit up second hand, only fired 50 shots from new though, and got it for £
B B
Benelis are unpleasant with regard recoil compared to other semi autos the SBE is the main gun in question the comfortech mk 2 sbe and vinchis are helped by the stock designs, but most any gas semi auto will have less felt recoil. I have a 3.5 inch 425 that kicks less than a SBE its the price you pay for a light slick handling super magnum, unless you get a gas auto. FarmerSim
Don't overlook the Mossberg 930 - you can have a brand new one within your budget, and they are damn good value, well made, simple, easy to clean and maintain. Perhaps not the prettiest thing in a hide, but if you to deal with pigeons/ crows etc. then what has pretty got to do with it? My 930 has never let me down, and I would have another without a second thought ( not that I will need one.... ).
Paul T
I've got an an AL391 and love it. BUT... If I was in the market for another, the first I'd look at would be the Beretta A300 at a smidge over £800 new
BIFFYBOY
hi I ended up getting the beretta A300 outlander 30in barrel what a gun this is, went pigeon shooting other day with my m8 12 shots 10 crows and then 14 pigeon to follow, not only was I shooting really really well I was knocking the pigeon down at well over 45,50 yards which for me was GREAT the gun fits me perfectly its also not as heavy as I thought an auto would be it come with a half choke,im used to using skeet lol when im decoying probably why I was knocking them down at that distance, ive been using game bore clear pigeon 32g 6 cycle beautifully then I tried 32g 6 Fiocchi pigeon cartridges these cycle the same cant wait till Monday see how it performs again I just cant get enough of shooting this gun although finding the empty cartridges at the end of the day is a pain lol so it gets a 10/10 from me if anyone is thinking of getting one
fruity
I agree BIffyboy I picked mine up Wednesday a 28" synthetic and went out on the pigeon yesterday and they are lovely gun to use , shame they only supply 1 choke though I says your budget was £ 600 so did you buy second hand or go over lol

pontbeck
I've an ulrika 2, never had an auto before ,my previous gun was a Perrazzi, bought from new but needed a lighter gun for game shooting , so I swoped the Perrazzi for the auto and a 28 bore game gun. I ' m pleased with them both and the auto is superb on wildfowl , pigeons and clays. I shoot off my left shoulder but never notice the ejected cartridges . I couldn't recommend the gun more. I've tried bennelli but the forend feels uncomfortable and I can't get a a comfortable feel. Bill
