JDog
You might be disappointed as pigeons may need a few more days to find the cut rape in any numbers.

fenboy
You might be disappointed as pigeons may need a few more days to find the cut rape in any numbers. You would be surprised just how quick they get on it , I shot a 170 a few years back the day after they combined it , the pigeon were landing behind the combine . I have also shot 100 bag on harvest peas while the combine was working the field !!
kyska
I would be on it the day after it was harvested . Harnser Me too, always worked for me. I tend to get as many guns (safely) over the cut crops, keep the birds moving.
motty
I would be on it the day after it was harvested . Harnser It really depends on a lot of factors. I've shot good bags a day or two after the rape has been combined. In 2011, when i shot 216 on rape stubble, it was 2 weeks before the birds got on the field in good numbers. snowmonster
I'd be the same as Harnser, if you left it a day or two round here you're more than likely find someone will have beaten you to it as there's that many chancers about. mossy835
see he is cutting it low, our driver cuts the rape high.
snowmonster
Where is "round here"? Doncaster area I don't need to get into another on line slanging match but to clarify the statement I received a phone call from the owner of one of my permissions a place I've shot for the last 15 years or so. It went like this farmer where are you parked me outside farmer I can't see your vehicle. me you won't its outside my place not yours, well who's shooting my rape then. I'll cut to chase as I'm sure you've got the idea now when we as in myself and the landowner approached and asked who'd given him permission we got a lovely long tale how he'd been told it would be ok as it was only pigeons and the owner wouldn't mind and he'd tried to ring him anyway he had the correct name and phone number but had failed to ask and thought it was ok to just pitch up, needless to say he won't be returning and he's very lucky the plod wasn't involved and tickets gone south. TIGHTCHOKE
I'm NOT after an argument either, you haven't given your location so I just wanted to know where you were posting about! Many of us have heard of this problem before, I've been lucky so far, have only had the hare coursers around on my permissions.
snowmonster
Sorry didn't realise it wasn't on my member profile. We in this area seem to be plagued with this sort of behaviour and the really annoying factor is the scrote involved used to live just down the road and knew full well I'd had the shooting on their for years. As for the dog men well I don't even want to go there, every other long dog round here has a head like a pitbull and I don't think they're after hares . Or, round here, the ********* farmer would have ploughed it up - no consideration that dead pigeons don't breed and don't come back later to eat his crops.... You might be disappointed as pigeons may need a few more days to find the cut rape in any numbers. If you can keep the plough off the field.... snowmonster
Kitchrat makes some very good points best speak to the landowner and find his intentions before making plans. Would hate to leave it a day or two to pitch up and find its been ploughed .

maxie
These farmers are so inconsiderate, ploughing up their stubbles without asking us .They should be banned from owning land.
