muncher
well I own a browning 425 three and half inch chamber and ive gone back to a auto because of the kick love it, was fine until this year when it beat me up on the woodies . I think I have changed the way I shoot god knows ive gone boss eyed. But one warning on the 425 its says chrome lined barrels but the chamber is NOT and it rusts like billyo so be aware . jules
shakin stevens
Really sat on the fence with this one, got a Browning 10b gold lite cheap this year and I like it very much, I also have a Berretta Extrema 2, thinking of letting the extrema go and getting another 425 3.5 inch magnum for general fowling, I did know about the insides of the barrel rusting my mate told me his did so you have to be careful. kent
I have seen break action guns fail to close etc due to marsh crud. In fact it happened to me with the double 10 the other week in this case a jammed shut (brute force saved the day followed by a good service back home). The modern Gas auto can handle quite a lot of crud and still function, the whole jamming thing is down to persons who cannot or will not service them and think cleaning is just getting the powder residue out the barrel imo) there was a film on u-tube of a guy stuffing his baikel auto with mud from a bucket and then just dipping it in water to clear and firing it , try that with a break action
fireboy
i have lincon 3.5 inch chamber very good gun been using for last 2 seasons gets caked in mud never fails to fire un like my sx3 used to when it got caked in sht but everybody choice is diffrent thats why there is so many guns for sale
nic
+1 for the waterfowl browning Only thing is mine is the camo version and after 2 seasons the finish is wearing.... doesnt jam in the mud, but the fine particles act as an abrasive when you are holding it out there. only rusting i have had was on trigger guard after i forgot to oil it! Never fired gun on a flight so never cleaned inside, but thinking about it later both shells must have had seawater on them because when I opened up the gun a week or two later the chambers were a mess. I am big on preventative maintenance though

xav
An O/U will be more tolerant of the sand and mud. I have a Browning waterfowl and it's perfect for the type of fowling I do most
kent
I wonder, how many own and use both auto and break action guns on the marsh
tigger
I wonder, how many own and use both auto and break action guns on the marsh I have both and up to this season used both on the marsh but fed up with wandering around in the dark trying to find my fired cases, so taken the decision to try not to use it this season, and whilst it is having the desired effect regarding picking cases up it is not as comfortable to shoot I must admit but going to stick with it and see how I get on still early in the season things may change later on time will tell I suppose..... grahamch
browning cynergy max 4 camo, 3.5 chamber with synthetic stock. Have never seen one for sale in the UK, where did you get yours from? May be a more realistic gun for me than an sxs

Pole Star
Nothing wrong with an OU for fowling & as with any other gun you have to keep them clean & serviced . Even the pogo sticks will go pop if not properly looked after & some years back I called into nice little gun shop near the Solway & while I was browsing I noticed a pogo stick in the rack , usual thing plastic camo stocked job . But this one was different because the barrel was slightly banana shaped with the top rib lifted & a knackered action & a split in the stock ! . I said to the man at the shop counter " what the hell happened to that ? " , the man replied I think it must have had water in it when he fired it . Water ? well I think the moment after he pulled the trigger he must have had lots more water in his underpants too ! . An OU will be fine just keep it cleaned & well oiled . My dog collects the Empties, its a fault though so I wont encourage it again. Cant stop him running in to the empty and he even gets exited by the loading of an auto (proving perhaps that dogs process sounds differently to us?). As he has taken to chewing the odd case they are not even good for re-loading now! With the break action gun he is just fine having worked out nothing gets spat out the far side Nothing wrong with an OU for fowling & as with any other gun you have to keep them clean & serviced .
