I have got nothing against the old girl she dose a good job but I do think that it says a lot about this country that in 2013 we still have royals and have not moved on from needing kings and queens to rule over us enough said.

Who said we _need_ the royals? And it's a long time since they "ruled over us" in any sort of meaningful way.

But I agree it does say a lot about us that we still have them (in a good way IMHO).

And who would you have as head of this country? Tony Blair or how about our mate Dave.

I gave up caring a few years ago when she read out a cringing politically correct message clearly written by the Labour Party who were in power at the time. She is just a powerless mouthpiece otherwise she would have done something to stop the hand over of power to Brussels as per her coronation oath.

The Queen has held little power since her ancestors signed it away and she will sign what is put in front of her as she has no choice.

But she is head of the Armed forces, and as much as they are used by the politicians their allegiance is to the Queen, and as such there is no politician that can use them to force change in this country.

Imagine if we had got rid of the Queen 20 years ago, what end would Mr blair have used HIS armed forces for, troops on the street to keep president blair in power,i shudder at the mere thought.

The politicians will do what they please regardless of the Royal Family. The troops should have been sent in to remove Blair and co as they signed our country over but they weren't.

Politicians will do what they want, but the armed forces will never turn on their own people, and if it was that bad and it was parliament against the Queen, the politicians know they are up the creek without a paddle.

As for blair and co,blame the sheeple that voted them in time and again,we are after all a Democracy.

My problem is not so much with having a King/Queen but you then get all of the hangers on prince this and princes that as if that was not enough we then get in to the lords and ladies that the breeds the other lord and ladies that are appointed by the government.

we are then expected to look up to them and call them sir or lady when all that most of them did was to do the job that they was well paid to do in the first place as fare as I am concerned I am English I was born here as was my parents and there parents I look up to people who can do things better than I can but I have nether need or use for a figurehead to look up to.

So what do you propose as an alternative?

Look around the world, you have a couple of options good old dictatorship, always a crowd pleaser,or a presidency, this could be a corrupt one or a not so corrupt one where money literally buys you power(usa yea).all of these look on in envy at the system(bad or not) that we have, the usa desperately tries to create its own "royalty" in the form of the Kennedys or the bush families, they envy the way we do pomp and pageantry and try to emulate it at every opportunity but never with the same panache as we do it.

The last time this country was a republic it was recognised that it was pretty dire and we decided to go back to what we have now.

And lastly if you don't want to call anyone sir/madam/ladyship/squire/majesty etc you don't have to,you live in a democracy

Will and Harry have my respect but an old lady with no grip on the real world who has never worked :(

Seriously what does she do ?

If I died tomorrow would she care? No so do I care about her ? No

Sorry lads but she's not important to me

Would she house me if I lost my job ? Nope

Harry has my biggest respect for what he does tho

To Add . When will rules I might listen to the speech then as it could be age related😎

And this is just my feelings I know not how others feel

They don't rule, they reign. The divine right of kings ended in the seventeenth century. The Monarch is the Head of State not the head of government. Pay attention at the back of the class.
