FatherandSon
I had mine a week and took out back for a refund! I think you can flick the switch near the magazine to stop it reloading. Is it ejecting the spent cartridge? Edit: also what length cartridge are you using? burky
not sure about the size of cartridge it will eject the first then all hell breaks loose it,s as though both cartridges want to load at the same time causing it to jam
FatherandSon
I was advised to use 70mm cartridges but they were jamming so I switched to 67mm which were fine at fitst but then it started spitting flames out the ejector port so I took it back. Have a look and see what length your carts are.

Have a look and see what length your carts are. Flames out of the ejector-port are perfectly normal when using S/A's, it's all down to what powder is in the shells that you are using. If it bothers you just change to a type that uses a 'fast' powder. In the 'old days' when I used to use a lot of Winchester catridges(double-based ball powder) I could of lit my roll-ups off the flames Regards remmyman

Me too, solved the cartridge length issue, then the barrel decided to let go!

fenboy
the one,s iv,e been using are 65 mm express pigeon specials 30gr size 6 As much as I slag Hatsans off the problem is the size of cartridge you are using , surprised no one else has mentioned this , before you write it off try some that are 70mm in length . 65mm are too short for most semi autos to work reliably , as they are short it will allow two out of the magazine when trying to reload I am pretty sure it will be much better with 70mm so try that before taking the gun back Edited January 16, 2014 by fenboy
filzee
I have had a slab of pigeon express carts and they jammed in both mine and my mates hatsan. Went on to the longer carts i usually use and they have been fine. Had my escort now about 7 years and not even thought of getting rid of it. Its helped me kill many a pigeon, rabbit and fox

DannyNCC
Mine doesn't like 67mm carts 70mm plus Works every time I made the mistake of buying kent velocity 67mm I would say it cycles about 80%
TIGHTCHOKE
Love mine, it works very well and with the short barrel it's very handy in the hide!
henry d
65mm are too short for most semi autos to work reliably , as they are short it will allow two out of the magazine when trying to reload I have had a 3" rem 11-87 and a 3 1/2" Xtrema both cycled 65, through to magnums with very few problems (about 2-3 in 10 000 or more)
sishyplops
most semi autos like to be run in on 50g carts as long as you have the chamber length for them as most will be magnums of 3", shove 50 of those bad boys through first then only use 70mm shells, make sure when you buy carts they are 70mm as many pigeon ones are 65 or 67mm

bostonmick
I do not like semi auto's but I bought a new x400 for my grandson he has used all sizes of cartridge with no problems at all.with the amount of threads you read about the hatsan and its jamming problems I cant understand why people are still buying them a good semi in the second hand market is only slightly more than the price of a new one of these. mossberg-operator
Mine doesn't like light (less than 30g) cartridges. Works fine with heavier.

Completely understand what your saying but I like the 3 year warranty you get and the fact it's new
