steve_b_wales
If they are shotguns, you can lodge them with a mate, who will need to add them to his certificate. £7 per gun/week sounds a lot to me.
Medic1281
I was quoted by my local RFD £3 per gun per week. Luckily west Mercia issued me with a temp certificate when I didn't get my renewal in promptly, so haven't had to pay.
FatherandSon
I paid £5ea per week when mine were in storage during a house move. Like said, if theyre shotguns just sign them over to a friend.

HDAV
do they have to go into storage ? No Some people choose to do this for peace of mind. Not a legal requirement!!!
Medic1281
No need to go into storage while on hols. As long as the house is secure and they are locked away then you have taken every precaution to keep them safe.

phaedra1106
For 7 firearms over 16 days one of my RFDs wanted £3 per gun per day, the other charged me a reasonable bottle of single malt so quite a good saving even with throwing him in an extra one at Xmas! Tell you something look after your RFD he'll look after you. A friend had a 22 hornet in storage while he waited for Hampshire to give him a slot took 6 years because he'd been a good customer in that time the charged him nothing!!!! Mentalmac
I have left guns with RFD before, coincidentally just after splashing a lot of cash on other stuff there and didn't get asked to pay anything. It wasn't intentional having to buy the stuff, I just did the typical walking into my RFD's and seeing things I wanted and so I bought them and then asked about gun storage and it happened to not need to be paid at all. Give and take I guess. If I walked in and just said "can you store my guns for me" I'd expect him to ask for a few quids to make it worthwhile. bostonmick
I would expect most rfd would not charge for this if you are a regular customer.mine told me if I ever needed to store it would be free. Agreed. Just goes to show, doesn't it. You might pay a little bit extra for cartridges, etc (compared to a well-known mail order company), but the goodwill savings can more than make up for it. Maybe some people will think about that when they are next desperately trying to save £2 or £3 on their next 1000 clay carts. But I doubt it

But I doubt it thing is I buy cartridges from two places and both are cheaper than the online boys even without the delivery.and that is both cheap practice carts and the higher end competition ones.a little loyalty brings dividends in my book.
